Hip Hop and it's "sampled" remixes to the original song -were inspired by james Browns' funky re-arrangements to all his original funky jams. It made it hard to choose which jam u liked better -so you would end up loving them both.
@theomeow ....but why does the song cut off right around 4:00 ????? this song should go on forever.....:O) this is the only upload of this song i can find here on YT....aside from the short clip from soul train...
James had an album out - Live At The Sex Machine - somebody please can you post this, I been searching literally for over 20 years!!!!!!! His bass player has always been funky, but on this album - Babeeeeeeee - you talkin bout STANK!!!!!
Now.... this was the jam, I loved the way Mr. J would make his sounds mix with the time era he'd make his music with... This was right on time for the Seventies... the dance era, and the movie industries of the Seventies... I was in Middle School... and jammin' back than.... cool... thanks for posting this... Mr. J/doing his thang.... this song is longer though, I have the original on Album.... 'smile'
I thought I hallucinated this version when I first heard this on Soul Train; especially when I couldn't find it nowhere. Props again, you just don't know lol.
Go SWAC!!!!! Chi town born JSU Tiger here. This song goes along w/ butterfly fros, stacks, and silk shirts. GOD bless people that put this funky stuff on youtube to enjoy and remember
I remember this song when I was in college at Grambling. I've been looking for it for years, Thanks. Sometimes I love to do my thang, I don't need no, no street lady, nobody else a
i am not mad at your statement--at all. Godfather's "swagger" is amazing in this song. James is so bad in this song, besides jumping back and kissing himself, he almost cussed in the middle of it! you can't get any more cool than this.

This is one the coolest jams bby brother James, and I know that this statement will get some folks in an uproar, but it's my opinion.
Listen to the joint a few times and you'll see.
Peace to all, and R.I.P. James brown.
