I don't know why people are being so critical. That was a pretty good speech and wasn't all about him. And he didn't cry and thank god which is what most do. At least he had something substantial to say.

Because he's so smug in considering himself and his community to be better than everybody else.

Problem with that is - they're not - they're just ordinary people with shitloads of cash.

And the things they choose to do with that cash are usually nothing worth congratulating themselves for.

Ever heard of a movie star who gave all his money away to charity? Or even half? Didn't think so.

@AlexRider001 True. Maybe it was a little self-congratulatory. But I think those are unfair excpectations, to expect ppl with money to give away half or all of their earnings. And there are in fact a lot of celebrities who give away considerable amounts of money to charity or participate in grassroots organizations.

I watched most of an episode where Kyle's dad joins a group of elitist ppl who drive hybrids, drink wine, sniff their own farts, and congratulate each other, basically for being awesome. I rarely watch South Park, but I thought this episode was so funny, so I watched the commentary for it by the creators of the show (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) on youtube, and they referenced George Clooney's speech, which I hadn't seen before.
