  • that fish looks half striped bass , half barracuda , one whole badass ... nice video , tight lines and watch out for those teeth !

  • excellent video - really captures the vibe

    thanks 4 posting

hope to match it with a video from the zim side - a lot of editing to get it to this std!

  • what the song at the first of the video when he says yeah texas

  • @7modishmali

That song is from a group called Wimmee. I am glad you liked it! thanks for the comment!

  • @trapperrudd I am hoping to try flyfishing for some tiger and was wondering if you could give me some advice. I am hoping to try at Kasane ( Botswana )and at Mongwe ( downstream from chirundu zimbabwe ) It looks like you guys had a blast

  • @Garfish27

Sorry for the huge delay, I just now discovered how to respond to comments that I didn't even know existed.

I guess I spend too much time fishing. My best advice is to contact the boys at Fly Castaways in JoBerg. These guys know the real scoop. I am familiar with Mongwe, and I do think you will hammer them down there. Good luck brother! Let me know how it goes. Trap

  • @trapperrudd Hi, which tackle did you use ? Rods, line weights? regards

  • @kemp12

I used Loomis CrossCurrents mostly. 9 weights are perfect, even a 10 weight could barely stop some of these fish. Sorry for the delay, I have been in Belize chasing Permit. So glad you enjoyed the video. Trap

  • @trapperrudd

Really appreciate you great attitude and thank you for viewing. Trap

  • I'm still after several replays laughing at the comment at the end of the video. I think I'm going to go to Africa and hire that guide !!! :)

  • Yep, sure did have a couple of close calls with those beasts. They are very deserving of respect.

  • did you guys ever get scared near the hippos

  • Damn, that this fish has teeth! It seems more of a crocodile's mouth, haha. It seems to be a good sport fish. Does anyone know whether there is this kind of fish for sale? I would love to have him in one of my ponds.

    Congratulations for the video!

  • @trapperrudd where can ifind the song

  • @alejandroesp

the first song is a band called Wimme, the song is called "texas". It came from an album called "Nordic Roots: A

Northside Collection. the second song is called "African Dream" by Wasis Diop with Lena Fiagbe. It in on an album from Putumayo records. One world many cultures. Hope you find it!!

  • Great video, very excitng, please tell where can I get that song playing the first part, really really cool soundtrack!

  • ive been wondering, are these fish edible?

  • @tiramisuAsylum

You know, I believe tiger fish are edible. I certainly saw many of them in the local nets. I have no idea if they taste good. I guess the local villagers find them tasty!

    Hope you enjoyed the video.

  • come on he wouldnt hurt a fly! he kept saying HI at 2:12 even!

  • I'm not sure how to share my fishing video with you but you can check out my "get snapping" video from our trip to Baja, Mexico.

  • Love it - love it all! The music, the filming, the adventure - it's great. Reminds me of when I lived in Kenya. There is something about Africa that gets you hooked (and no pun intended.)

  • @mightymuffinful

I am so pleased you enjoyed it. You are obviously one of the kind of people that get what fishing is truly about. THE JOURNEY!!!

  • Jeremy Wade made catching one of these look so hard, but these guys make it look easy. However, the one he finally pulled out of the Congo River was fucking huge in comparison. I wonder if these things will actually grow to 6 ft like River Monsters said?

  • @elk832

The tigers in the Zambezi may be a slightly different species. I am not sure if anyone really knows. The Goliath Tigers of Congo seem to be restricted to that drainage. I can tell you this however, we hooked a few from Cahorra Bassa lake (the Zambezi forms this lake) that we couldn't land on the fly. A 20 pound tiger from the lower Zambezi is a real prize. I didn't want to sensationalize the experience like the Network or Cable shows do. Hope you enjoyed the vid. Trap

  • @trapperrudd

heh, I didn't mean to criticize your fish at all - it was a great vid =]

I was just curious if the 6 ft ones were just a myth. And yea, I'd bet they're different species - you're fish look a lot prettier (less ugly???) ;)

  • @elk832

No worries bud, I didn't take it as a criticism. I appreciate your interest. Now you must go and get some!! You will love it! ps, I have seen some tigers that some villagers brought in on the back of a truck. They were every bit of 6 feet!! Maybe we should plan an expedition and wrangle some for ourselves!!

Keep your eye on the channel, I have some serious adventures coming up!!

    Take care, Trap

  • Go cutthroat anglers!

  • Trap,

Im excited to get my PhaZZer DVR500 wireless A/V recording sunglasses out to you for demo. Coming soon!

    Ryan PhaZZerCaz

  • Excellent! I love everything ... and that wonderful fish, and knew the tiger fish, but after seeing this video, I am eager to know this wonderful environment, and of course bring my team Fly. Again congratulations. Hernan L. Tula

  • Hernan, I am so pleased you enjoyed it. You need to go and experience too!! Thank you for the wonderful comments. Trap

  • Loved your vid! I go to the Zambezi every year, but you got the mood spot on! Matt

  • I mean seriously, I'm watchin all your vids and they rival ANY of the latest fly fishing/fishing DVDs I have gotten in the last 6 months.

  • Wow. Might need to start planning my trips for 2010. this place looks awesome.

  • Absolutely fantastic movie. Love it. Clearly a favorite. Wow these two little boys were lucky. They fight excellent tiger fish. What is the price for such an adventure in the Zambezi River?

  • Thank you for the wonderful feedback. I am so glad you like it. The little boys were in peril for sure with all the croc and hippo around. trips to the Zambezi usually cost around 3k or so. Most of the cost is in airfare getting there!! Thanks again. Trap
