Thanks for posting this. Could you let me know what exposure you are getting at a given macro distance in dark ambient both for low and high, one and both?
@RayosMcQueen it can depend dramatically, with my macros in ambient lighting the exposure is very high +2or 3 so I usually use the low or medium light setting but I don't angle the lighting or choose a left/right side because the light can make the macro image appear larger or unnatural. I usually use full round light-stream whenever shooting in a decent ambient lighting situation. You'd have to experiment depending on your lighting but that's my general use of it in a macro shot situation.
@dallasdrummer this is dealing with the ring light. As far as the 350k under normal conditions I couldn't really elaborate because I have upgraded my camera.
I have that SONY HVL-RLA for my Sony F828 and it works great in macro mode. I´m a collector of roman coins and I often show pics of my coins in coin forums when I have questions or something is for discussion. With that ringlight you are able to make awesome pictures. They look realy professional and quite impressive. If someone says the sony HVL-RLA is to low powered, then other devices are anyway to weak. This device has an illumination factor of 150 LUX at 11.80". There is nothing compareable
ermmm first off thanks for this video very helpful, i was wondering how its actuly powered bc i wud like to use it for my sony but also for my film camera is ter a way its powered separate from the sony and cud just be held in front of my bronica? thanks
hi, the ring light i bought came with a hotshoe which was the same hotshoe i had bought before to fit other flashes, since sony and minolta have a proprietary hot shoe you'll need one like the Seagull SC-5 Hot Shoe Flash Adapter to PC, mine works with my film minolta and my digital sony slr cameras. :)
also, you can move the ring light around anywhere you want. it is powered by batteries, the hotshoe is only used to mount it on the camera, therefore you can move or mount it wherever
Thanks for adding to the collection of Sony Alpha related videos. I've considered buying the ringlight, but as you say, I'd rather have righflash for my portraiture!
Great video. Do do you think you could use it for a video light? If you could reply that would be great.

@44NightsOfFailure epic for video light but use on low lighting and left/right side angle lighting is the best for video.
