  • and this shuttle will close the program in 2011...

    thanks for this video

  • ,

american space shuttle is so beautifully spaceplane better than ussr russia cheap buran shuttle,,,

ussr russia buran never go space

  • @bestamerica it do once, moron. Buran was capable to carry more cargo to space than shuttle.

  • Fantomas24ARM,

    '

ONCE is once still not enough,,,

still cheap low buran and unmanned with R/C,,,

american real space shuttle fly many times, real manned with ISS,,,

    buran is only one,,,

america have few space shuttles now

  • @bestamerica in 90s our economy collapsed very hard, there is no time and money for shuttles. But in end of 80s USSR built 2 space shuttles actually, Buran and Ptichka (98% complete)

  • Fantomas24ARM,

    '

that is tooo bad for ussr russia own problem,,,

    dont depend on america,,,

america can go outer space to ISS and no need it ussr russia

  • @bestamerica you are wrong, USA now cant go to ISS on its own ship (it simply dont have one :) ) , USA depends on us now.

  • Fantomas24ARM,

    '

    nah nah,,,

america can go ISS and space WITHOUT ussr russia,,,

ussr russia already copy steal from america space shuttle design to buran and ptichka,,,

ussr russia is a big CHEATER country

  • @bestamerica Development of Energia-Buran begined in 1976, 5 years before STS 1 flight. Difference between that two system is quite big.

  • Why do they have to flip???

  • The astronauts do it so the ISS crew can examine the tiles for possible damage. One of the precautions implemented after Columbia.

  • @myrandomspaces they don't have to. They just like to fuck around.

  • Question- How can the tires of the shuttle survive the vacuum of space? Or are the gear bays pressurized?

  • Why should they not survive? The tyres just have to stand 1 bar (14.5 psi) more pressure difference than on earth.

  • @blablubb12345

    Interesting. Thanks!

  • I am not sure, but i think the tires are inflated (in space), or they are just really strong tires

  • There filled with Nitrogen and placed under + or - PSI through out the flight, Nitrogen and oxygen mixed is deadly but not by itself.

  • @CANECITY01 Nitrogen and oxygen mixed together is deadly? Are you fucking serious? LOL! Do you know what the air you're breathing consists of? I'll tell you. It's mostly nitrogen and oxygen.

But perhaps it IS deadly, because you're pretty braindead.

  • How do they measure the altitude in orbit? I that the altitude is being measured according to the air pressure (in airplane)..but in space there is no air.

  • There's a number of ways to do it. One is using GPS.

  • like a satellite, it can communicate with satelites on earth, they just measure the time it takes for information to get to earth from the shuttle and they have the distance.

  • why so many 3 world country so jealous

  • i just wanna to sing...."my dream, is to flyyyy, over the rainbow.. so hiiiigh."

  • My dream is to get high ,, under the teh rainbow so high :D i have a 2009 remix of that song :D

space shuttle very intresting (for me)

  • hello i would like to buy this used space ship for my next vacation

  • 25,256 feet per second roughly or 4.78 miles /second or 17,220 miles / hour

  • Damn!!!!!!!!!!!

  • or 80 football fields per second

  • wudnt we all mate :)

  • no not all, some think we should stay on earth like dumb animals

  • well then those silly duck heads can stay.

that probe they sent too mars is kool, itll teach those martians that probing goes both ways ;)

  • smart and funny comment wstcyd your right good to hear someone is smarter than a dork on youtube.

  • :) just doing my part lol

  • cool

  • Space shuttle is traveling at about 7,700m/s.

  • is that meters or miles per second i know its miles right just checking ok

  • meters if it was miles it be to the moon in 1hrs

  • oh ya i didnt see the s for seconds butt i did work on a space flight to travel 30,000m/s in earth air. butt it was canceled do to cost and danger.

  • its cool how fast earths going below them

anyway the shuttle is travelling at the same speed as earths rotation so thats 465.11 m/s. VERY fast

  • They navigate to a spot on earth by lowering the altitude of the orbit until they enter the earths amtosphere (starts over the pacific ocean). After entry the Shuttle flies like a sail plane (without propulsion) to just land like a plane at Cape Canaveral or Edwards Air Force Base in California. Depends on weather and mission.

  • and flies like a brick with wings.

download Orbiter simulator to find out how hard.

i stalled twice, and mised the runway 4 times.

but without any joystick, i could now nail the centerline of the runway.

  • No the Space Shuttle can't travel to the moon. It's designed only to stay in low earth orbit with an altitude of 115 to 400 statute miles. The only spacecraft which was designed to land on the Moon was Apollo Lunar Module back in the 1960's. Since 1972 nobody landed on the Moon again.

  • unless there is another SRBoosters and bigger External Fuel Tanks, it may get into lunar orbit, but not land.

  • can the shuttle travel to the moon?

  • how do they navigate to a spot on earth to land

  • wow, they r going so fast.

  • nigeria to italy in a few minutes lol, awesome

  • It takes about 75 mins for the shuttle to line up and dock with the ISS you know...

  • amazing how fast they orbit

  • why did that plane do a slow flip? i don't get it.

  • And to take pictures of the thermal protection system, that way they can visually check that there are no dents or missing tiles. That would avoid another Columbia disaster.

  • That's a very surreal sight.

  • nice
