Hi Soundguy. :) I have a Nikon D50 but I'm cautious about bringing it while on the AT. It's heavy, yet I love the pictures I capture with it. What do you enjoy using for photographs of nature?
I used a lighter more compact HP cam. I will say that there were times that I wish I had had a larger one as yours tho. The biggest weight problem I experienced was the batteries necessary to snap shots for a week.
I took me 4 weeks to get to Dick's Creek. I started at the Amicalola Falls Visitor Center. I was really taking my time at about 5-7 miles a day. Also I stayed at Neel's Gap for a week painting a cabin for the owner of Mountain Crossings. Most people I had run into made that stretch in about 2 weeks.
I'm glad you enjoyed this slide show. I have actually redone the show with some added effects to make some of the photos more interesting to look at. Again, Thank You for your comment

Normally i hate slideshows. But you did a great job of showing the beauty that is out there. When I hike, it's hard to notice those things.
