Awesome! I've been trying to watch others use the 909 and they can't pull it off like you. As a matter of fact, I get bored of the others before their done. I enjoy your talent Simon!
simo hola, ESTA canccion me fascina, en dónde son los cantantes la puedo "Bajar o mandame El seguimiento de una moneda de diez centavos mexico Cuánto cuesta, gracias ok, saludos
i own a 909,but dont seem 2 hav any of d patches i hear u play,im just using d minimal preset patterns,r u using some type of sound card and how can u sample stuff wit d machine, help
Thanks for the comment man. Hmmm...not sure how to help you there! All the sounds apart from the bassline are coming from the 909 in this track. Hvae you tried making your own patches? Have a read of the manual and you should pick it up pretty quickly.. :)
ye its complicated enough 2 get the hang of it all,i jus dont seem 2 hav the time for it,sure if ya know ne1 lookin for a 909 let me no,bout 700 euro its like new,
I assume I'm not mistaken if I say that what gets on everybody's nerves is that when we see you producing this track live, it seems easy... Good track, man...
@ChMax8038 It might seem easy ... What your seeing now but , if you only knew what it took for him to get to this point and make all the sounds and make everything mesh well , you would understand !
the problem with these modules( ihave quite a few) is that theyre old. now they might sound nice to hear especially when your creating them yourself, but they take you nowhere.
if ur interested in expanding just buy a virus b its quite good for techno. and inexpensive!
and for those who are thinking vintage....im sorry to disappoint but the only accepted vintage is a moog sound.
not even a nord synth would be appreciated in todays scene its all bout high synths not deep bass sounds
It's NEVER about the equipment, it's about the person using it.
There's a little validity that there are some rich analogue-y bass tones that you're not going to get out of his gear (versus the Virus or Nord) - but it can be done.
yeah i agree with you that some people are more talented and flexible on certain boards, and one usually perfects these old machine because he cannot afford the super high priced synths that come out each year and maybe because he'll think he wont ever make enough money back with music. If you 'invest', try harder and send out as many demos as possible it wont be that hard to get a cd or 2 and maybe some live shows . i live in europe i dunno where u r but here its quite that simple really..
Hey man, thanks a lot for the comment. If you check out my later videos, you'll see that I actually have a Virus Classic (re-cased Virus B basically!). It's an amazing synth - I use it for almost all of my sounds these days. With regards to releasing tracks, I have been doing so for a wee while now - check Simon Stokes on Beatport. I've also got some vinyls upcoming this year, and I'm starting to do a bit of touring, including Europe. Thanks a lot for your interest and comment! :)
its ok, if you like synthesis .what i do miss about hardware (i used to have an mc505) is the realtime knob twiddling .but that unit sound banks became old fast ie.pcm samples.
but seeing as the 909 is a sampler the possibilities are limitless
MC-909 synth engine is exactly same as the Fantom XV 5050 which is 4 stereo tones per patch based on presdampled instruments or just the waveforms itself.
pcm is pulse code modulation used for.ex on the legendary Yamaha DX-7 and plenty of 80's keyboards.
Without the sampler part it has almost endless patch-making capabilities, even without the COMBINE function...
Haha thanks a lot for the comment, I'm glad you liked the track! This is from about 18 months ago...no I'm not famous but I'm working on it. Search for Simon Stokes on Beatport if you are interested! Thanks again.. :)

Hi, thanks for the comment - not sure what you mean here - muted the bass? The bass runs throughout the whole tune - maybe if you are listening on small speakers it is too deep for you to hear?
Ah right - OK thanks man, I will consider that as I am making up my live mix just now. I just liked the kinda build-up aspect of the growling bass and then throwing the kicks back in, but I'll experiment! Cheers for watching. :)

In 10 years of production I've learned this:
It's NEVER about the equipment, it's about the person using it.
There's a little validity that there are some rich analogue-y bass tones that you're not going to get out of his gear (versus the Virus or Nord) - but it can be done.
Talent ALWAYS trumps equipment.

Sometimes you built up the listeners by increasing some FX to the baseline while lowering the kick.
Afterwards you turened off the FX and let the kick come back.
I would have had enjoyed some parts of this mix more, if you had left the FX turned on.
anyway: I realy like the mix. well done!
