Poor queen...of course, there never was a chance for her. Unfortunately, an ant queen is not designed to fight or move very much...its main purpose is to lay eggs. And also, only one species of ant, I forget what its called, will welcome other members of its species into its nest. Any other species will kill the former members. Of course, being an animal lover and enourmous fanatic of insects, it saddens my heart to see a queen being attacked like that.

They will lay their eggs when they are in a place with the right conditions. They need a moist place to live that can be closed off, so be sure to take care of them well.

Even though the queens get along great in the beginning, and sometimes even when they have some workers, the strongest Queen will eventually kill the others to reign supreme (although there are cases where queens from different species live together).

If you harras them too much they will get depressed so be careful :)

most queens live to 15-20 years in the wild. and probabally 10 years in captivity depending on how you treat them. and you find a queen ant during the nuptial flights during late june early july. princess'ss are bigger. DONT TAKE DRONES! they dont lay eggs and die after 3-5 days after mating. lastly, make sure she doesnt have wings. if she has wings she hasnt mated yet.

You don't want a queen for your farm, as very quickly you will run out of room. A queen produces hundreds of eggs daily, and the group dynamic would require the ants to forage voraciously to feed and protect the queen and her numerous offspring. Simply, your farm will die much faster, or burst at the seams.
