  • @fretfrek it has nothing to do with religion trust me...just bribes and corruption!

  • its all about pipe line

  • Half the country is named either after him or his father, pretty soon they will name the country Aliyevistan. The constitution is not worth the paper it is written on as long as this lot remain in power. Im not surprised though. They are only in power because the people let them remain in power.

  • brutal dictatorship yes, but as for Islamo fascist state, that is a comment you should make after you visit the country. They must not educate retards in your country. I am sorry to hear that. I hope you get some help soon.

  • Right!

  • salam qardasem

Bayraminiz mubarak olsun, bu Aliof sharaf sizder

  • Chox sag olun! Sizin de bayraminiz mubarek olsun!

  • lol...democracy at its finest

  • no the finest democracy was in March 2008, when armenian police killed own armenian citizens in the center of country, because they wanted to get rid of Karabaghi clan!

  • mmmm....not exactly. but, as sad as that event was, it actually shows that, in armenia, people stand up when they are unhappy. weather they are stupid reasons or not. in azerbaijan, people did NOTHING. i mean come on...does no one in azerbaijan care about their country??

  • No, it shows just one thing. Armenian dictatur won't stop at any case! even it will cost the lives of their own people! Actually in the case in 1993 and 1995 Azerbaijani government has showed that one can leave his position, but he won't kill own citizens in the demostrations. p.s. as a person, who was at the demonstration of our opposition, I can say that Azerbaijan is more civile state that Armenia (I saw on TV ur demonstrations). democracy can devolope only in civile country!

  • lool...you jut had a referendum 3 days ago taking away your 8 year term limit, don't tell me this is civil. the opposition in azerbaijan boycotted teh last election. aliyev won with 80% of the vote, and no one even lifted a finger in protest. no one pretends that teh government in armenia is perfect, but let me tell you, many things changed since march 2008. the government no longer has the free hand they thought they had. the deaths were unfortunate, but were not sanctionned.

  • Well France has in its constitution no limits for the periods of presidency. U mean, it is not civil?:D Unfortunate? plz, no ridiculious comments. when police beginns attack with guns, it is obvious what is going on. Yeah, our opposion is also more civil than armenian opposition. u can be sure

  • france has a constitution, which is based on 250 years of trial and error in which they have created a system of checks and balances, and the splitting of power between the president and pm. azerbaijan does not have this democratic legacy (nore does armenia, or any other post-soviet state)..this is why the 8 term limit is important to minimise dictatorship or oligarchy.and btw, there were also mass demonstrations with police shooting in france..called 'mai 68' i'm sure you've heard of it.

  • Wow:) u must be a brilliant lawyer:D USA has this limit, 'cause they don't have the kind of constitutonal heritage like in France (they have it more than France). Checks and balances doesn't have any connection to the limits for presidency (too indirect way).as for me there would be no difference, if kocharyan puts sarkisyan on his position or aliyev his classmate! But there is one difference.

Aliyev is damn good in economical matters.I agree there r problems. But not in the case of referendum.

  • the US has different reasons for its 8 year limit, which was introduced after FDR's presidency. good in economics? isn't azerbaijan one of the countries with the largest gap between rich and poor in the ex-ussr?

  • No, this is false information:)it isn't. one must come to our country and to compare with other states. I know about reasons of 22. amendment in USA a little bit, too. I wanted just to point out that the limit has nothing to do with checks and balances or with heritage

  • well, yes and no. i mean, certainly there is no constitutional link between the two, but nevertheless, if the president of the united states has a referendum to abolish the 8 year limit, it would be different than if the president of azerbaijan, or venezuela do it, because, if you are the son of the previous president/general secretary, and you rule like a dictator, then one can only wonder why you are taking away the 8 term limit right?

  • If u r informed, then u must have read about the critics to the limit of prezidency in USA (the principle: I'll do everything what I want within 8 years, 'cause I'm going to leave my position. in example of Bush) As to son of prezident again, for USA it won't be a great suprise, as they have had the same. I would say regardin to referendum, that reforms in Azerbaijan need to be continued. Of course, we need also changes. But we cannot wait the solution of all our problems from prezident

  • certainly. i personally don't think that the american system is perfect. i mean, once again it suffers from too much power to the executive and less to the legislative, which makes for slightly imperfect balance. as for bush being the son of another bush,of course there are political elites in the United States, so, sure bush senior has an impact on his son's election, but its not like he can directly legate his position to him. ok..but WHAT reforms need to be continued??

  • and what to dictatorship, I don't know what u mean. May be if u give some examples, what he did (regarding to press or devoloping an independent entreunership), I could understand u. As for me, I can say that the situation in Azerbaijan is much more better than 10 year ago definitely. And I am sure after some 10 years, we will have success in all fields

  • ya, but people can say the same about russia, i mean sure, life in moscow has drastically improved..but remains that in eastern russia live is still a challenge, and the political elite, through the control of media, and natural resources sales to the west, russian leadership can keep its position. i mean, 2 months before the 1999 election NO ONE in russia knew putin, but on the election, everyone thought he was a hero? how?...if you want PM me, i will have more than 500 characters to write.

  • Karabakh is cultural center of Azerbaijan which is under occupation by Armenia sponsered by Russia. Not to mention the genocide Armenia and Russia committed against Azerbaijanis in the 20th century.

  • lool///

  • Kharabakh is Armenia. It will not be touched by filthy Seljuk tribes such as Azerbajan

  • bitch armenians commited genocide on azeris and you stole our fertile land.

  • you obviously have never been to karabakh....'fertile land'...loooll where??? its only mountains

  • No help from Bush/Cheny regime to Azerbajan will be strong enough to ever win back our historic lands. You will get your ass kicked over and over again. Armenians have never committed any kind of genocide. Your brothers Turks have but are not man enough to admit that, but we will take care of that also. Armenia has never had oil like you guys we have survived like no other race without oil. Once your oil runs out you will be Seljuks again. Think long term and spread the word.

  • Azerbaijan should shun the incendiary U.S., British, and Israeli rhetoric - and seek out legitimate ties with Russia and Europe.
