At least you ladies can cover it somewhat with makeup. Im lucky to be one of the 10% of middle age guys to get this and im very vain,so its almost like a death sentence. plus im still single,so no luck no ever finding someone who can deal with this shit. I may as well be dead
@mlee2001 use dermablend, its for both gender use, is amazing coverup and doesnt even look like youre wearing makeup. its made especially for skin issues.
im 16 years old and i have meslama i was on the pill for health reasons..worst decision of my life, i cant fix it i feel like setting my face on fire :(
@nelly2395 Hi, I know exactly wat u mean, I have found a treatment that working 4 me, please try it, I swear its worked wonders & from the melasma blog spot I got it off its working 4 ever1 thats doing it. Its 3000mg-5000mg Vitamin C(asorbic acid), 2 tsp cod liver oil & 4000-600mg of pure msm (Methylsulfonylmethane) which you can buy as a powder from health shops & chemists (you have to star of with a small does of 500g or so & increas slowly to full amount) Google it :)
Obagi Nuderm cured mine, but I eventually quit using it because it has Hydroquinone in it and that ingredient has been banned in other countries. Safety or vanity..... it sucks. :( Once I quit using it, the Melasma has slowly come back- it's something you have to keep up with forever. My doctor prescribed it for me, and it is a system that is very expensive.
i have a large patch on one side of my face, going around my eye and down past my mouth. It sucks. Makes me look so old (when im only 19) and like I have a dirty face. And i hate how it creates the illusions of deep lines in my face because of the placement.
Of course this is such a minor problem compared to other stuff in the world, but i cant get over it. v_v
I love Brook for being an amazing woman for revealing such a difficult problem that some women have to face. I'm so depress over my face with melasma.
I have spots on my face that get darker with the sun but it is some other thing from hormones or from using tetracyclin, an antibiotic to treat my acne, that makes you sun sensitive. I had to use AT LEAST spf 50. I stopped using it but I still have sun spots, like freckles but bigger, on my face. Retin A is supposed to lighten them but it worked only a little.
I used Aveeno active naturals face wash w/soy and that did help lighten the spots some.
@tormenta91303 you knw it not easy to cure malesma money cant cure it once you got it it will stay with you the rest of your life only some cream can cure for short period of time and it come back if you stop using it . i been have malesma over four years i know how it feel some time i dont want to look straight to the strangers eyes because it too embarrassed
This is what I have on my face and I have never been pregnant so I dont think this only effects women with chidren..Im darker than both of them so imagine how bad mine looks..sometimes it goes away and my face is clear of it and then it comes back and I DESPISE THE SUN BECAUSE OF IT..
@ESBEAUTII Melasma can be hereditary, or from birth control pills, thyroid disorders and excessive sun exposure. Also, it's more predominant in women of ethnic origin who tan easily. Unfortunately the sun is your enemy so you probably do see it fade but after sun exposure the cells that make melanin activate and cause the color. Lots of sunscreen along with chemical peels and laser treatments may help. Good luck! (I'm a nurse)
@ESBEAUTII <<< HEY MY MOM HAD THIS PROBLEM TO, SHE SAID SHE HAD IT BEFORE SHE GOT PREGO, AND AFTER SHE DID SHE SAID IT GOT SO WORSE. BUT WE WENT 2 THE DERM, THEY WILL GIVE U THIS BLEACHIN CREAM THAT WORKS SO GREAT!! BUT U DO HAVE TO WEAR SPF, TRY THE EUCERIN ITS THIS WHITE/ PINK BOTTlE. IT REAllY WORKS. BUT YEA TRY GOIN TO THE DERM. UNlESS U WANA TRY A OVER THE COUNTER LIGHTING CREAM SEE HOW THAT WORKS. BUT F0LL0W ITS DIRECTIONS OR U CAN REALLY MESS UP UR FACE. =]
@ESBEAUTII I know how you feel. Im a man of 43 just diagnosed with this and its hard to believe the sun is my enemy. When they say stay out of the sun it seems impossible because its the sun ya know? I do sales as a job and this makes me so unconfident its incredible. Im usuing 4% hydroquinone just started treatment last week and 110 sunscreen but its still sucks. Keep your head up,and we'll get through this.-:)
I wonder if we'll see another video of her after she has the laser treatment and her melasma comes back even worse than it is now? That's what happened to me. Fraxel laser treatments might make it better, but they can also make it worse!
mlee2001 - also use SPF every day; I have had luck with Retin A Micro and 25% Mandelic acid peels from Makeup Artists Choice

neromeads 2 years ago 10
@neromeads Try Bare Minerals, just be sure to moisturize and use a primer prior to applying it.
biggrl99 2 years ago
Thank you so much! Any suggestion (brand) primer wise?
neromeads 2 years ago
@biggrl99: Do you recommend a primer? I've never used one. Thanks.

@yltboyz Maybelline makes a nice one, so does sephora.
