Actually quite a few metal guys add Emg's to their PRS's, it's a personal preference, and for the record, dragons or any other PRS pickup is NICE, but not the best. Your comment is just as silly as someone bitching about someone pulling the 496R and 500T out of an Explorer for Emg's O_o'

EMGs are great pickups, and they DO NOT sound exactly the same in every guitar. The better the guitar, the better they will sound. Very powerful, clean, quiet, transparent.....if you can play and know how to set up your tone w/ effects, amp, your hands, they are fantastic.

I got a Custom 24, perfect for metal. A lot of guys are throwing EMG's into theyre PRS guitars these days. (tech at the guitar store tried talking me into it)

I won't, Im fine with the HFS bridge pickup, and the Vintage Bass pickup, I also prefer passive electronics.

you gotta be careful with the SE models as they are genuine shit for tuning stability. Terero model may be fine, but id test it first.

I own a CE, they're bolt ons, yes they're still made in the US. But they're easily found under a grand. Trust me, I love the CE, but it's no Private Stock. The CE with EMGs in it is absolute brutality. Not knockin' that at all.

I have 3 guitars that are all mahogany body/mohogany set neck. They all have an EMG 81 in the bridge wired at 18v and they all sound night and day different. Anyone who says EMGs have a cookie cutter sound and makes no difference what you put them in, to me honestly then you don't have good enough gear, technque or experience dialing them in. You can not dial your amp in for passive pick-ups and then switch to EMG's and not change your settings.

Keep practising the songs, there are soms flaws in the as i lay dying riffs, some notes are not meant to be in there and some palm mutes too many etc etc

the 81 and 85 do not coil tap. the 89 will, and has the push/pull feature.

I have a set of dragon2's in my 98 custom 22, but the other ones are meant for the studio and stage and these pickups do the trick.

I could have tried the sc250 pickups or the dragon1s, but I know i like the emg tone, so why try and find something to match it, other than just get the one i like, ya know?

I also have a 513 Brazilian rosewood. beautiful guitar. not very stage friendly though...

the 513 is a bit thicker, a little heavier, and honestly i'm afraid to throw it around. if you watch my band, we move around a lot. The pickups aren't as hot on the 513 as the rest, and i prefer a 24 scale neck.

Dsl50 is completely stock, love it...almost as much as my stolen single channel jcm800.

Haven't tried the 250, used a singlecut in the studio when the lawsuit was goin on, and loved it!

i run .56-.12 with a wound G. Thicker strings use produce a meatire tone, and I run those on all my guitars. The wound G is PERFECT for octaves, but you give up a bit of speed.

honestly, I play live around 4-5 volume level, half stack only. The thing is ridiculously loud and if you know anything about EL 34s (check out any tube website) they LOVE to be pushed. 6L6's (mesa) hate it, el34's love it (marshall, h&k, bogner, fender uses a british version but same deal). Ever notice why a mesa is balls loud at volume 1-2...thats why. you crank a marshall up it just keeps sounding better. If i had a 100 watt, you can't crank it as much, and can't achieve as good of a tone.
