I owned 3 different models. The 95 XJS Rag Top was best. 6cyl/4 ltr. As one person here hints. Jags are novelty cars. Rich mans toy. Best as a weekend cruiser. They don't fare well with everyday driving. They wear quick if you use it as your main driver and parts/labor are very high. They last when pampered. Yes, they are cool, but coolness comes with a price tag. Be prepared for maintenance.

Jaguars from this era are notoriously awful. I believe Ford owned Jaguar at the time and their vehicles from the mid 90s were just as bad. Growing up we had an '89 XJS and I don't recall it having (m)any problems for 15 or so years, though it was only driven one or two times a week after the first 5 or 6 years and I remember its computer connected to the stereo saying it got 3.3 miles to the gallon. It replaced an '87 or '88 XJ12 Sovereign which was an absolute lemon.

@astrak1001 mazda is owned by ford and have ford engines in them the jaguar up intill i think it was 08 where owned by ford also. and i agree fords are junk very bad reliability. the mazda 6 3.0 has the same motor as the type-x jag and ford tauras i think it was the duratech engine. the engines where good but the trannys sucked they got to hot and burned up quickly. all ford had to do was put a tranny cooler on it and they wouldn't have had a problem.

i had a 1998 dodge caravan le, bought for ~17 k in 99, after like 170k miles on it, the tranny and engine started giving me problems. It was probably worth around 1600$, i got rid of it for 3500. How is that bad? Cash for clunkers was awesome. They need to do it again.
literally I bought a 1999 Ram 2500 Cummins truck with 80xxx miles at a mazda dealer back when this program was going. I saw the guy about to trade it in for some bad number. I paid the guy 5 grand, and now we both have cars we love!

A lot of dealers were giving them cast out of their own pocket if they thought they could resell them. I can tell you this much, cash for clunker or no it would get parted out before getting crushed, there is more then $2500 worth of parts in that car to a wrecker. That was one of the stupidest things ever done by a government, most of the people buying cars through that C.F.C program were planning on buying another car within six months anyhow.
I have an '87 XJ12 Vanden Plas, in perfect condition. Its my first car...Imagine that, I'm 17 driving the the most awesome car ever, and you know why? Because I could afford it because of the money I saved on insurance! Its insurance is less then a Mazda 3! I pay $2500 for my Jaguar, it would be $5000 for a used 2004 base model Mazda 3!
This car may have had mechanical problems causing the trade. The 4.0 engine is problematic and the transmissions are weak and expensive to repair. If it was not running well it's not likely that they could have sold it for much.

If she runs for 2012, that's exactly what she'll be doing. If the guy who has just won the Republican nom for president asks you to be his running mate and you're a state figure nobody has ever heard of, you say yes and work out the rest later. That's what she did. That is what launched her into the national spotlight. Now we've got to help her the rest of the way, if she chooses to run and she stays conservative. What you need to think about also is, after Bush's ratings crashed near his 1st inauguration, he still came out with a win in 2004........but luckily, Obama doesn't have a daddy there to pull the strings to make that happen.

Given the current state of the economy, maybe the previous owner's changing job/had to relocate. Selling a car on ebay takes time and energy these people might not have had,. Plus you have to fix cars up pretty good to make people even want to buy them instead of another car. The new owner--the government--is solely responsible for what happens to this property. Why didn't Obama put it up on ebay and return the money back to the taxpayers? That's what Sarah Palin would have done.
