  • Ray's backing vocals are, well, a bit weak.

  • Yo, IronMan sexxxy dumbasss...I could Hear u!!!! Xoxo T is very Strange...even 4 Aliens!!!

  • I had this album in "Quad" also a whle back..( It was supposed to sound-like surround-sound does now but..it never caught on..) Interesting what happens when you turn down or turn off a channel..with the early Beatles stones stuff you can "erase" the vocals by doing this also..MONO baby! Beats the hell outta the early "stereo-processed" albums.

  • FUK THIS SHEET

  • LOL!!!, stupid karaoke guy, get a life,,,FAKE!!!

  • I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd really love to know who the go-go girls were, and what they did w/ their lives?

If they were, say, 18-20 in '68, they'd be 60-62 now, almost ready for Social Security (if they lived in the socialist USA instead of England, that is)...

    The mind boggles.

  • Once again, slightlymentholated, you've done us all a great service -- 2 of them, in fact.

1st = letting us hear what's inside the magic-making, technically -- very cool!

The other is giving some really dumb people the chance to proudly parade their ignorance & stupidity for our amusement.

Now, if only there were some way to keep them from voting...

(And no, sadly, the dumb ones don't all opt out. Far too many of them do vote, w/ painfully obvious results -- that we all end up paying for.)

  • No this is totally ray. You can tell, listen to when he does the chorus. It is

  • all the debate here is fair enough as it's hard to tell but it is genuine. really interesting work! thx

  • It sounds more like Jim laying down his own harmony.

  • FAKE !

  • You're an idiot.

  • @slightlymentholated He really is ! :D

  • Not a harmonic, a harmony. Ray sang a major third above Jim for pretty much the entire song, seemingly. This track is also missing some of the instruments. Still has the guitar though.

  • This is a breakdown of the 5.1 mix, using selective tracks. It's Ray's harmony backing vocal indeed. There are also 2 Morrison lead vocals on this track, but on this "mix" you can only hear one at the very end. Cool. Thanks for posting.

  • Hmmmm....I'm listening to it again, and now I do hear Ray's bluesy voice in there. I'm assuming that when he sang back-up, he purposely made his voice higher. It must have sounded better that way when it was mixed with Jim's voice. When he sang lead, he used his naturally lower voice. Fascinating, thanks for uploading this.

  • This is really interesting- though it doesn't sound like Ray at all. I've heard him sing on other Doors songs (in fact, I saw a clip of him singing lead vocals on this very song in Amsterdam after Morrison passed out on stage) and his voice is usually much lower. He sounds so different here- so much higher (no pun intended).

  • i like it with the drums better. great song either way though.

  • Dang haha, Ray is normally WAY better than this, seems off tune, oh, and if you look, Jim's mic is plugged into Robbie's Guitar lol, and Ray's playing a Wurlitzer, which wasnt used in this song, and those arent plugged into anything. Yeha it looks funny too with jim's mouth and Ray's voice

  • @RayManzarekGod Ray isn't out off tune...damn...he sings the second voice! learn music theory.

  • @RayManzarekGod Ray isn't out off tune....he sings the second voice! learn music theory.

  • il chante sur ce ton pour créer une harmonique avec la voie de Morrison !

he sings on that tone to create a harmonic with Morrison.

  • some people who know nothing about the doors with their self rigteous little rants....on here, youtube in general now I think about it

  • dont understand how did u do that

  • I simply muted the front channels on the quadraphonic mix.

  • @slightlymentholated Dude, you pwn everyone with awesome comebacks!

  • lol, seeing jim morrsion with rays voice made me laugh but still cool version but jim was alot better

  • This is pretty funny

  • who sings the song?? ray manzarek?

  • yup, its his backup vocal track

  • Ray? Oh my god! Terrible! Jim is the best vocal!!!!

  • i think jim would love this mix!!

  • That isn't Jim or Ray....it sounds more like Ian Ashbury of the Cult

  • Well, would you care to explain how Ian Astbury (spell his name right, at least) ended up on my 1974 copy of The Doors "Greatest Hits" quadraphonic reel-to-reel? Because that's the source of this audio.

  • Definitely Ray. Have you ever heard Ray sing? This is him 100%

  • shut up, the doors are singing and they are excellent!

  • It makes you appreciate what Jim brought, even more.

Too bad he was killed or kidnapped.

    RIP Jimbo

  • And 'U' are stupid as hell because that's not me, that's Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek. So you may want to get in touch with him and let him know how you feel.

  • That almost sounds like the singer for Wham, George Michael

  • I always thought everyone could hear his backup... goes to show people jump on anything that isn't 'right'.

Great to hear the other mixes! :D

  • I like montage of this video and Jim's beard.

  • Lmao! the comments here are so funny! such morons

  • Yet ANOTHER idiot who can't read a description. That's the Doors' keyboard player singing, not me, fucktard.

  • Idiot... read the description. I swear, all morons must congregate on YouTube.

  • man i feel bad for you!!

but its okay, many people dont even bother reading the description....

its cool to hear RAY MANZAREK singing :p

  • hear hear :P

  • i think you are destroying the song! OMG!!!!!! shut up you sing horriblee

  • read the description. that's the keyboard player, and it's on the original song, you just can't hear it usually.

  • Who the FUCK is singing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • ray manzarek, the keyboardist

  • Jajaja It's Ray Manzarek at the corus!!! fantastic!!!

On the new remaster of this song, can hear the Manzarek voice too...

  • As another Doors Fanatic and in particular a Ray Manzarek Fanatic, I'm sure this IS Ray. No doubt.

  • It is Ray. I have the 1974 Quad album. I am a DJ. slightlymentholated is correct.

  • Yet another idiot. Listen to the original recording, you will hear this. If you can get your hands on the Quad LP from 1974 and a quad lp player, you can hear it yourself in the rear two channels... IDIOT.

  • Please listen correctly people It's Ray!!!

  • As the creator of this mix, I happen to KNOW that it is Ray. He is singing a backup vocal, not a lead vocal, and is singing much higher than his usual range.

  • So, are you saying it's been Ray's background vocals on top of Jim's on the record we've loved all these years?

  • Well, background vocals don't really sit "on top" in a mix, but... yes, Ray's backup vocals heard here are also on the original mix. You can hear the other half of the mix in the other video I've posted.

  • excellent, thanks for sharing this!

  • Listen to the quadraphonic LP, rear 2 channels, you idiot.
