  • Great! Sweelinck played this less than a mile from my home in 'the old curch', where he played 44 years and where he is also buried. In that time the church was also just a public place for people to meet eachother. Imagine walking in and here him playing this music on the organ. :D

  • Joel's variety in nuance and phrasing is wonderful; granted, this set of variations was not originally written for the piano; nevertheless, Joel's performance is noteworthy due to his subtle phrasing.

  • @dennisferrara1 Sweelincks pieces cannot be written for piano, because this instrument was invented 150 years later... But someone mustn´t be a pedantic, because one can do much more on a piano than on a harpsichord, especially these nuances. Joel Hasting´s version is #1 of all versions here at YouTube !!!
