  • Nice video you have, great info here, keep up the good work!

  • You should cut out the music. It interferes with the report.

  • Dells android interface looks fugly.

  • so is this a phone or a tablet? im not looking to get locked into a contract i would just like something that is better than the ipod touch 4g and as far as i can see this is if i want a smartphone ill get a htc hd2 or something but i odnt want a smart phone. I think this tablet is the best simply because its not too big or too small to me the ipad is just a huge ipod touch. but this device is just perfect. would it be better to get this or the 4g ipod

  • At this point Dell would be best off making netbooks that can be made into quality Hackintoshes.

Nobody wants Windows anymore. If you know what's up you are either you are a Linux devotee or a Mac devotee.

Linux makes you do it yourself. Mac does it for you.

I bought a Dell mini 10v and made a Hackintosh out of it. It's good, and I praise Dell for their efforts. But still, the track pad sucks. It's like a poorly-implemented spin-off of Apple's track pads.

But Apple refuses to make a netbook....

  • @QuantumAnomaly Do you know that mac-os X.xx is a branded linux ?

  • Who the hell cares about how big it is, how it looks next to your face and shit !!! This is an excellent device and I can't wait to get mine !

  • this song is great! :D

  • Dont Mame!!!!! yo quiero one!!! y si salen a la ´venta en ese price!! muy good, ya traiganlo a mexico's, jajajajaja, no ya en serio, si esta bueno, saludos

  • Where can i get this?? How much is it?? I hope its under $200!!

  • Comment removed

  • make your own video instead of taking other peoples photos and video, i know you do your own voice overs and stuff, but u probably watched the video 1st and you kinda used parts of what they said

  • It looks like a competitor to the Archos media players. It could also be a datapad / PDA with mobile phone connectivity. You make 5 inches sound like it is a big deal. That ain't nothin'. Now if this thing were totally modular then we'd have something useful. Switch out the default components for better ones (new webcam, new wi-fi, new cell module, better battery, new shells, active skins, better displays, HD 720 video, HD 1080 video, Quad HD, etc).

  • is it a smartphone or not?????

  • do u have to get a data plan for this even with the wifi app to make calls

  • I don't get why people say these types of devices are hard to figure out. It's a media player with a larger better screen. If ONLY some1 would make a 4.8 to 5 inch (even better) device with BOTH the high capacity of the Archos 5 IT (up2 500GBs), have 3G (even 4 CDMA ie Verizon), a kickstand+a portrait qwerty w good phone quality it would I think defeat all competitors. Its not anymore awkward than the EVO yet no one complains about its size for some reason.. just the HD2 and the Dell Mini 5.

  • Does it text and ring people like a phone ? cheers

  • do you do any hands on reviews? errr no you joker

  • How come no one knows how much RAM this phone has? I think that's as important as knowing the processor. Does anyone know?

  • ipod touch tablet mix...boy you need to grow up...

    its a ANDROID TABLET/PHONE

get ur fact right baby boy

  • The device will be $300 roughly, and be a device-2 marked piece. Meaning, people will carry it aside a [dedicated] cellphone. For me, I will carry just this, and use a BT wire on my collar. Simple.

  • can you text ?

  • too big for a phone...too small as a tablet...a psp??

  • I want one!!! Gimme, gimme, gimme now!

  • Why are people acting like 5 inches of phone is alot to hold when your home phones are bigger? grow some balls you cant be that weak that you cant hold a 5 inch phone

  • @hot1fromnc i agree with u....

  • fuck!!!! the music sucks ass!!!!! Its fucking irritating!!

  • HAHAHA APPLE LOOSERS! They are going to loose their market with their iSHIT...

    WINDOWS 7 IS IN !!!

    go hp!

  • way 2 repeat ur self a bunch of times

  • DAmn every year... MOre sofisticated things come out... Like da world tryna make it easy 2 use.. IMagine in da future... in like 100 yrs... Dey gonna b Cars flying.. NO cellphones no more but... a Thing on urrisk tht u can just Call ppl & stuff... SCreens... I even Saw on discovery chanel ... Cars in the future.... WOw!!!

  • @lildidi94 the first iPod was so cool back then, now we have the ipod touch and the ipad. maybe five years from now we will laugh at the ipad and have wayy better technology

  • IT'S ENORMOUS

  • im just thinking this Dell with big blackberry menu/program icons. Blackberry bold has these lovely luminous , cool looking icons..and imagine them in better, bigger resolution on a screen like this, or on a HTC HD2's? wouldnt it look awesome? Android just ahas this annoying logo and icons. looks cheap.

  • i love the shell, but the menu, icons just dont have that attraction like iphone. Whats wrong with these firms ? how hard is it to get your creative team and make them come up with great looking menu icons, program icons. Apple did that beautifully, the iphones program menu, (apps in big squares) just looks beautiful. Only the blackberry bold has next best program icons after iphone.

  • 5" Device - 5" Touchscreen - 5 Megapixel camera - Wi5i - 5imcard slot - But why did they call it mini 5? I wonder.....

  • 5" Device - 5" Touchscreen - 5 Megapixel camera - Wi5i - 5imcard slot - But why did they call it mini 5?

  • This phone i doubt will find its way to AT&T. Simple fact the IPHONE.... It will come to from what i heard Tmobile.. Will see..

  • @jugerknott09 he will most likey find a way to At&t but will probably will be on T mobile first

  • I love touch screens and browsing but a device like this should imo ideally be a good PDA and if possible a decent gaming device, I wonder which company will come out with something similar but that has both touch screen and an actual D-pad(up,down,left,right) button on one side for action games, fire butons simulated on touch screen are ok, but virtual direction buttons are just horrible

  • This is comming out with AT&T because they use gsm and sprint and verizon do not. Because of this AT&T said they are going to raise their 3G speed to 20 MEGS PER SECOND. sprint can only run about 1MBPS. This is not possible for Sprint or Verizon due to the limitations of their signals. AT&T says within 2 years all of their 3g will be 20 megs per second. they are currently running at about 700KB per second. 20 megs is faster than most all home internet connections.

  • @TexasToast09 Who cares? Speed doesn't matter if AT&T can't deliver coverage and reliability. Sprint has 4G.

  • C'mon Sprints wimax has such a small footprint in the American mobile market it's rather insignificant right now. I doubt 4g/wimax will be widespread till 2012.

  • I agree that any form of 4G will not be "widespread" until a few years have passed. You can't deny the fact that WIMAX is already present in many big markets- and very reliable compared to AT&T's 3G network IMO.

But you have to consider how long WIMAX has been to market. It's pretty impressive considering the rest of the 4G competition out there. At a time when others are still touting 3G, I am fairly impressed with Sprint/Clearwire's effort.

  • @primefirst Uhum, you do know that for mobile phones Wimax isn't back compatible to 3G and GPRS.

The industry is going to LTE here in europe.. no Wimax at all....

  • Yeah but remember here in the states Sprint still feels the need to update to a frequency no one else in the world is using so their phones will become that much more insignificant. Makes perfect sense right?

  • sprint has 4g but only in 3 cities and their just testing it.....sooo.....yah

  • is it a phone?

  • yes look up dell android for AT&T in youtube. aslo I talk to at&t and they confirmed that they are getting it.

  • Honestly I'd rather it have Windows Mobile but thats just me. I'm not too excited about Android. But as for this fone, y is it's primary use simply in landscape?

  • @rayjones09 android is miles ahead of even windows phone 7 series.

  • @formulanerd Ummm...I'd beg to differ. Windows mobile is well established whereas android is just a fad. I doubt that if this were maybe august or so of last year u most likely wouldn't say that. Nobody talked about android until the droid came out. So once the fad runs out, something potentially bigger and better will come out (perhaps windows mobile 7). But don't get me wrong tho, android isn't that bad. I'd just like it alot more if the popularity was gradual instead of out of nowhere.

  • @formulanerd : Agreed. I'd go for windows for desk/laptop, but android for my handheld.

  • @formulanerd Since not much has been said of 7 series, you can't really back up this claim. You may have used the Android OS, but I can guarantee you that you have never come close to anything running 7 series.

  • Please, explain to me exactly how the thing is "too big" to put up against your mouth and ears. Suppose you have a computer with built in mic. Is that also too big to talk into?

  • @Zeratassadar it might look awkward but not "too big".

  • if it is ~$350, I'm TOTALLY BUYING ONE!

  • im wandering about the ports, does it have a usb o hdmi? cause i think i saw something like ipod conector on the midle of one of the sides, could it be a stand set conector?

  • We don't know the full ports just yet unfortunately. It does have either mini or micro USB, but I don't think it has HDMI. Not 100% sure though.

  • im just thinking that maybe is a docking conector, and the docking will have all the ports, well maybe, but another thing is that in europe all the new phones have to come with a mini usb charger, because some new law, so whats gonna happen with dellmini 5,? cuase is also a phone

  • It has HDMI Out

  • @duncan33303 dell said in this vid that the dell mini 5 would have hdmi

    i thought /watch?v=vf5EsGs-y4g&

  • @duncan33303 oh no i was wrong.. the dock that comes with it has a hdmi port

  • @duncan33303 No, it DOES have HDMI. One of the videos I saw, they mention it will have a dock with HDMI.

  • @menxsk8 has USB and a HDMI poart

  • @menxsk8 it does have an hdmi output. look at some of the newer videos of the device.

  • @menxsk8 yes, it does have a HDMI output with dock.

  • @menxsk8 you can purchase a dock that would have a HDMI... trust me its worth your money :)

  • @spurtipreetham Have you been using this phone ? how is it ?

  • @smartdon007 Yeah.. I have had the chance to use the phone for 1 month.. It's nice.. But it is locked to ATT... It is BEST for watching movies.. I would say you can wait for the update to Android version happen as The android 1.6 does not support multi touch.. I guess I answered your question.. Thanks

  • @spurtipreetham Yeah....I know about the upcoming android version...People say this version is slow !! Movie, eh ?? Actually I am not a big movies fan....So I don't think I will be using my phone for that......But hell yeah, I need that internet !! Howz browsing on this phone ?

  • this may be a stupid question . . but if you use it to make a phone call . . do you have to have a contract (with a carrier) for that . . or can you make your phone call thru wifi?

  • Ordinarily you will need to have a carrier (almost certainly it will be AT&T in the US) but you also will be able to download a VoIP app and use it over Wi-Fi too.

  • FOR @duncan33303 : DO YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT SKYPE ON ANDROID OS ?

  • @AnnaMishel carrier.....

  • @AnnaMishel I'm sure there will be a skype app that you can use to dial phone numbers. I use this right now to augment my cell service. I don't have a traditional land line...don't need it with the current technologies.

  • @AnnaMishel Browsing is a good experience, I have had no problems with he device what so ever except that the multi touch and flash are still no go, I heard the Android upgrade is around the corner and One it is done, the pinch to zoom and the Flash are supported. Also the 5" inch makes it real awesome for mobile web browsing.. I have tried the upgrade of Android on it and Its awesome.. The GPS works awesome.. Youtube viewing if at all you do.. It's the best in the market.. Thanks.

  • @AnnaMishel You can use one of the voip apps like skype. But you can also have a carrier like ATT or T-mobile. I persoanlly will never use ATT again in my life and am waiting for the opus one which is the new version of the dell streak 5 that should be out in May of 2011. It will be dual core along with other benefits. Let's just hope it's going to be paired with T-mobile because if you crack the phone and use T-mobile in it anyways, you can make great calls but the wi-fi will be lacking.

  • Too big for your ear? Says you.. I disagree. It's the largest size a phone could be, which is exactly the size I want it.

  • Then there is the app issue, I saw another comment about how developers will be pissed from making software for all these Androids. NOT TRUE, developers are actually excited in making their software accessible to all. Remember that BlackBerry's and iPhone's are relatively new gadgets. Before that we had Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Alcatel, Palm, et al- they all required suitable software and developers never disappointed!

  • So do expect it to be tough for the Mini 5 as it is expeced to be a competitor to the iPad.

The price is another factor, Apple have been able to keep prices down for most of their products- well, depending on how much you want from your iPhone/Mac, and soon iPad. Yeah, so if Dell make it cheaper, it will fare better- this $1000 is way too much, for sure they know that.

  • Personally, I love what Dell has done- this is a beautiful piece of instrument... I like the fact that it's smaller than the iTampon... excuse me, meant iPad. And it seems to do quite a number of stuff the iPad can't. But GigaOM andPocketNow have said that during the announcement by Jobs, he spoke of the tablet supporting multi-touch, multitasking, an add-on cam for video calls and Skyping/webcam capabilities, etc. All in the futu

    re of course!

  • Please tell me which song from Onision is that?

  • man you sound terrible...video is great but your voice sucks.

  • Your voice was unnatural and the music was terrible. I would have rather read this as text.

  • because he's a 13 y.o apple fanboy noob that will buy anything shiny. Have fun getting shimmed out of 1st gen tech. No flash, cant run multiple apps, wtf apple. Anyone who buys it is a dumbass apple fanboy.

  • Is dell crazy with the rumored price of 1k i would rather by 2 ipads. oh wait i am buying an ipad.

  • @Lawtsy15 why would you waste your money on that?

  • i will be getting the new ipad over this any day hour minute of the week

  • then u will waste your money dude

  • I don't really find the size bizarre at all. It's only odd if you think of it as purely a cell phone. Think of it as a far more portable iPad, and it makes total sense. Smart phones are used less than half the time for making phone calls. You can text, email, tweet etc to communicate. For that matter, so many people have bluetooth earsets or wired sets to listen to music and talk on the phone anyway. device that actually does more than any of those devices and still fits in your pocket.

  • techcrunch says this thing will be over $1000 retail price tht is crazy if it is cheaper i will get one. really want one!

  • i will defiantly buy this before a Ipad. but i will not use it for a phone i will still use my Iphone 3gs! Im pretty excited about this device!!

  • what about chipset speed, RAM and ROM?

  • Nothing is official yet, but someone did a tear down a few days ago and found a Snapdragon processor, but I haven't heard anything else about RAM or ROM yet. Of course it's still a prototype as well, so things could change between now and when it's released.

  • TUHDAY

Voted 3 because your voice is annoying, I'd rather just read about it.

  • stupid take on it, more like an iphone, than a tablet and ipod touch...

  • dell has its own version of android? there are too many versions and updates for those phones. developers will be pissed trying to get their software working on so many different types of phones.

  • I hear you. I can't even try to keep track...especially as most won't ever update.

  • @FAKEBC Google mentioned that it designed Andriod so applications an be fitted for any device size.

  • "Device size"?

I was talking more about the app requirements and the OS features. If they are limiting the software OS and the apps to work on their least powerful phones everyone with the high end models will suffer and vise-versa.

  • haha thats craZy....id laugh if i saw someone using that as a phone without a headset.

  • Haha yeah, I'm not really sure what they were thinking.

  • nice video! i saw this on a news site, pretty cool!

  • Thanks! Yeah I think it's cool as well, if I can could use it like a big iPod touch I would really like to get one myself.

  • totally yeah! it would be amazing! but saw on this new as well that apple is releasing one until end of january! and as we know apple make the best stuff!

  • Well Apple is making a tablet, but I think it's going to be way bigger haha.
