Hi! I love my clown pleco! yes I think that's too many fish for a 20 gallon. Clown loaches get really really big, and the angels need more room as they grow. That can all be solved by getting at least a 75 gallon tank, though. I say live plants are always a plus, but you have to keep pruning off the dead parts. One good thing is you don't have to vacuum the gravel with live plants; just do regular water changes. No, you don't need sand substrate.
im thinking about getting a clown pleco. i have a 20 gallon tank. do you like yours? i have a question. i am worried i have to many fish. i have 2 mickey mouse platys, a red tailed shark, 2 clown loaches, 4 half-black angels, and 4 neon tetras. do you think that is to many fish? they are all still quite young. also i am interested but not sure about live plants. i know they are much better, but do you have to have sad substrate? if you could help me that would be nice.
wow what kind of fish in that striped one on the bottom of the tank ?
