@waterastrogirl Right click on my computer in the start menu and select properties. At the top it should say what OS you have and what service pack is installed.
There has to be another way to do this... I mean, basically what you're telling me is that you can only record sound from your computer with 1 brand of speakers? lol Everyone says "duuh, just enable stereo mix" well those of us who don't have "realtekkkk" need some help. I have seen 500 "duh, just enable stereo mix" videos... it's like I'm in the twilight zone.
really not a problem. You can record audio by doing a "trick". I use fraps, and windows media player to do it. It's lame, but it actually works better then recording from stereo mix. And I get a HQ audio recording I can take into sony vegas and either use the audio there or export it to an audio program.
it's funny every vid i watch on stereo mix says thats all there is to it :D
I have definitely enabled my stereo mix, the problem is it doesnt work or if it does, when i broadcast using it there is a terrible buzzing.. (almost feedback-like) sound.
Any suggestions?
I use an external USB m-audio soundcard which has inputs for my guitar and a microphone.. could this possibly be the reason?
I've known how to do this since i got Vista on the new comp but when I used it to sound clip record on windows messenger it doesn't work at all. Yet it is the valid sound output device that i'm selecting as the recording device, any ideas mate? Cheers.
Hmm... never thought of doing something like that before. I don't really have any ideas. I suppose you could check and see you haven't turned Stereo Mix off though?
Nah it's definitely on, I think it's probably just a Vista and Windows Messenger problem though because I had the same drivers with XP and it worked solid. Cheers anyway.
hi thank you for your enserws i was trying much many time to looking for sterio mix in my lap but nohing i think its prob in my sound card not support stereo mix thax for help
Hmm.... if you've tried showing Disabled Devices, and it isn't appearing, there's a chance that your laptop's sound card doesn't support Stereo Mix. I wouldn't worry about it - it won't make your computing experience any better. If you want to find it, feel free to respond to this comment and I'll see what I can do.
darn I have no stereo mix option either....$^&$*#

So i have been and re-tried every method i had already tried.. i finally got the stereo mix working *wahoo*
I was thinking "what do i do differently to what most vids say?"
and then i thought about my previous comment to this one on your video.
Could it be my external soundcard, essentially feeding sound in and out of my computer without the stereo-mix actually recieving any audio?.
The answer was, of course yes! thank you for this vid which made me comment and think my own comment over ^^

just tested and it works on windows 7 too :D

Not without buying a new Sound Card and installing it, no. I guess you'll have to do without Stereo Mix, I guess.

i click show disabled devices and disconected and all that, but nothing comes up...
iCrunkkkk 2 years ago
Anything such as 'Stereo In' appear either? It's not always called Stereo Mix.
If nothing appears, your PC might not have a sound card that supports the feature - some PCs don't have it.

Thanks a bunch! Been wondering why I couldn't find Stereo mix whilst I was sure I had it..

could u help me? i have stereo mix, cuz ive used it before. but now it´s gone!! it´s like ive deleted it or something...

Have you right clicked the Sound window and selected 'Show Disabled Devices'? If you have, try updating your drivers and stuff.
I'm not sure where you need to go to update your sound card though.

I don't have Stereo Mix!
JackHasCookies 2 years ago
Some sound cards are just that way. If you've followed all of the steps I showed in the video, you'll know for certain.
Stereo Mix isn't really a must have thing anyway - you can easily just forget about it. There's no real need for it.
