Broken bottle doesn't do any more or less damage than normal bottle. Total myth.

The bottle is better than the frying pan, if you crit a wall with the bottle you get a broken bottle which does slightly more damage than the standard bottle.

Thought that was common knowledge. Frying pan is worse than the bottle.
