overstayer banned for 5 years and can NEVER become citizens? Do you have any idea how much hardship that would put on multinational couples? If that would become law then I (USA citizen) would never have the opportunity to live in my home country with my husband (canadian) because he came to stay with me for a year in the states (and did not work). We had little to no money and could not afford the USA immigration process so we left for Canada. Someday I'd like the option to go home though.
