  • I am happy that my parent raise me good, less materials and paper imaginative and the tech I own is not latest model and some crap, it's just leftover goods to play with.

  • to say it is completely the parent's fault is an ignorant statement. The only reason someone would make this claim is because they are ill informed on just how impressionable the human mind, both child and adult, really is. If a child is raised by dogs from birth, he will crawl on all fours, bark, and will not have the ability to learn language. He will even have i heightened sense of smell and hearing.

  • @Ignitey24 ever notice how everyone knows who obama is but never heard of joe biden or John Boehner. most kids in my school cant even name a single vice president or house speaker. let alone are congressman. now thats scary

  • so, what i got out of thoc doc. are 2 things:

    1) thank God, we lived in comunism. we didn't have stuff. and even now we are so happy to find one of 3 brands of candys we had then. we are happy with little things.

    2) where did parents forgot to be parent? limit tv, talk about what's goin' on, whats right and wrong.

    I don't blame advertisers. I blame parents.

  • This is dat gangsta nigga shit. Gansta nigga shit is a good product.

  • Humm

  • the problem is at this stage is that parents were born into this mass marketing themselves; they don't think anything of putting their toddler in front of the t.v. for hours; it has to be regulated at least some; yes, parents should step up, but even if you completely control the home environment, they still have to go out in the world, to school, to friends houses, etc. the only food they get at school is junk; if you send them with a healthy lunch, they will just want what everyone else has

  • Parents are just as much to blame as the advertising companies are. They let the television play babysitter. They spoil their children. They never put their foot down, because they don't want to deal with their childrens' nagging. It's true that advertising has taken their job to inappropriate measures, but parents need to start raising their children and actually be parents.

  • most of the obesity dose not come from the "food" but what is in the food such as nutrition and how much of the food the person takes in. There is also alot of gmo and artificial additives that do nothing but clog the body system. Very little of these adaptives were not around 70 years ago when people could eat a lot and not gain weight

  • This is why capitalism ultimately fails. Everyone's out for themselves. People don't realize that it's absolutely impossible to better society when everyone only cares about themselves. However, media is only partially to blame, the government really is set up in a way that practically invites corporations to screw people over, not to mention the government actually funds said companies. What? Great Britain have laws against marketing against kids? Here in sweden channels like TV3 are broadcasting in England becuse they have no law against marketing towards kids.

  • Correct: Type 2 diabetes is shooting up in adolescents. Incorrect: Media and advertising is to blame. Unfortunately, rising heart disease, diabetes and obesity is because doctors and nutritionists are pushing carbohydrates. How many cereal boxes say "heart healthy" on them because they contain "whole grains"? Do any not? That is a lie. Even whole grains are contributing. Read Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taubes to learn the truth.

  • @PainefulMass Do you know what carbohydrates are or do for the body............... they give u energy

  • @Robbybob1 I suppose that makes them healthy? I refuse to have this debate again until you've put in some research. Come back when you've read the book. I could eat refined white sugar for every meal and that would give me energy. Is that a reason to do it? Your body gets energy from all sorts of other sources as well. In fact, researchers have shown that even if you are an athlete you can still live on a 0 carb diet and not lose endurance.

  • @PainefulMass Thats alot of fatty acids and sugars which is really hard to get in this world

  • A $15 million industry working day and night to undermine parents' authority. Parents don't have a chance. That's scary.

  • Well I have just watched the whole thing and the biggest thing that comes to mind is how much more I appreciate my parents. If it hadn't been for them saying "No" so much, I might be a lot different today. The traits I like most about myself are my creativity and lack of need for material things. And probably the biggest reason I have them is because my parents raised me the way they did.

  • @foxesV i will ditto that and say the same to my parents they help make me a better person

  • I was surprised to find that the US has no laws to protect children from advertisement.

And even if they had: I am in Germany, we have cheap, silly child adds on the TV, too.

They maybe dont go as far - but they are there.

I give you this: Parents, who have also been raised by the TV do not know any better.

If you live in a city you maybe cant send your kids outside.

There really are very few "good" toys on the market to buy for children.

and too many uneducated people have children.

  • I'm writing a paper on the subject of advertising aimed at children for a college course I'm taking and this helped me IMMENSELY. It was very eye-opening and made me rethink advertising influences on myself, even as a young adult. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Don't even think about blaming childhood and adolescent obesity on the advertising and marketing campaigns of McDonalds, Burger King, etc...Im disgusted at how quickly we, as Americans, are ready to place the blame and cuasation for any sort of problem on anything or anyone but ourselves. No one forces someone to eat fast food or lead sedentary lifestyles. Thats a choice the individual makes. Its readily apparent that people need to take responsibility for themselves and their kids. Stop blaming

  • @ChaseAmazing You are right blaming other people is not the way to solve these problems but you cant deny that there is mayor influence from media and corporations, You can say that most adults are allready brainwashed from childhood and they dont see what kind of effect it has on them and there children.

So i think corporations and the government do have a responsibility but they see this as on oppurtinity ( if there really was "justice" in my and your country those people should go to jail.

  • @mindinflow Corporations have no interest in "taking responsibility".The government that the people elect should prioritize the people not corporations, but it just doesn't. Money can buy you anything love respect, influence, votes, lobbyists, marketing professionals, senators etc. Hence the answer to the question what do you want to be when you grow up- Rich. That's the message children get. Work->spend->take credit->spend->work overtime not to loose the job that pays the credits->spend more.

  • @seezarorest "Money that you have makes you free, money that you don't have makes you a slave" The children are forced into become consumers that will fit this profile. The Closed circle of consumerism is a money making perpetuum mobile. Look on You tube for ->Early years education: Sweden versus the UK. Its an interesting documentary on children education, and development.

  • @mindinflow Well then the parents as adults should wake up and realize whats going on around all of us with corporate corruption, media etc.. The few who have realized whats going on and are trying to pass on the message are labelled as 'Conspiracy Theorists' so no excuse about 'already brainwashed'! All the info. is out there! Do your research!

  • @khanada1969 I agree totally

  • @ChaseAmazing You sound like you're drinking the kool-aid.

  • @ChaseAmazing Cognitive brain memory is active when a child watches a McDonald commercial. If you've grown up in such a distorter value system, you'll turn out as distorted as that. Fat and stupid- just like a commercial. I blame the education, not the capitalist ads or markets. But somehow, ads and markets have stepped in and took over the education. Hope you understand this crisis.

  • @ChaseAmazing If we really wanted to blame someone we just have to look into the mirror.

We are our worst enemys, Its not about blaming its about the information and the view this message brings.

There really is no blaming involved, we always had the choise and we still do.

Maybe when people see this video there choice will get more insight and will let them make the right decision for them selves.

  • @ChaseAmazing What choice? Professional marketers (psychiatrists and sociologists) think of ways to attach a child emotionally to a product. Most parents don't have time, and think raising a child can be done using shortcuts. Because the parents don't have time to actually learn how a child should develop they reach out to the things that the marketers recommend. Marketers represent a corporation which goal is to make profit they don't car is it good or bad for children as long as it makes money

  • .......are you serious?

Hi my name is capitalism and I don't believe we've met. Guess what? Corporations have every right to market towards children and why wouldn't they? It really is up to the parents to monitor their children. And this argument that the marketing industry is taking away childrens imagination? Sounds like typical liberal bs. My fondest memories as a kind involved watching power rangers in the morning then MAKING UP my own story and playing it outside with my FRIENDS.

  • @ChaseAmazing And how old are you? Are you a five year old today? No? Then your situation is different.

  • Incredible video - parents, watch out. I have grandkids (4 years old) & am thoroughly disgusted & see how difficult it is f/t parents to deal w/t "I want to eat where they give out the toys" YUK! Join thevenusproject to participate in a new direction for future generations.

    Love - Mamma D

  • i didn't know it was this disgusting. Wow! Thank you for uploading this and spreading the word. I knew tv wasn't good, but I never knew the depths to which it goes. Absolutely outrageous!

  • Thanks for uploading this compelling video.

  • Its no longer a choice for the parents. It's everywhere, and they can't avoid it. Unless they isolate themselves in a remote area of nature, they will grow up poisoned by advertisement.

  • Corporations are the problem, not the lack of regulations. Governmental control of the media would only turn us into China.

  • hahaha you have to be wealthy to be healthy... poisoned food is everywhere! its cheaper and more readily available.... i hope word gets out on this and social constructs that form negative stereotypes for certain groups of people as well... but of course nobody gives a shit....our overlords have already won....OBEY!

  • turn off your televisions right now! dont question me, just do it!

  • I like the program~ it highlights the problems we have in this materialist world

yet, I think it will be more educational or informative if it talks more about the solutions rather than just focusing on the problem. like what parents can do to protect their kids and what government should do~

  • @mamachu home schooling? no television? healthy eating (starting from an earlier age as possible, and teaching them about the poisons in fast food etc)? playing outside? teach about nature (how to grow your own food/what animals eat etc)? i could go on really..
