I remember all these "Don't talk to strangers" PSA's from the 1980's because they scared the living shit out of me. Of course my mom also hammered this crap into our heads so when she took us out we wouldn't talk to anyone and she would get pissed and yell at us only to turn around and tell us we'll get kidnapped by strangers.
As a kid, I had no idea what kidnapping was all about. Why people did it and what to do if it happened to me. This commercial left way too much information out and nobody would answer any of my questions either. 25 years later, I'm wondering if these commercials were actually effective.
How'd they do that with the bikes? Are there playground rings in the background? They don't have those now adays; I remember playing on those as a kid. They took those away because people are careless and STUPID when they played on them back then. Damn them! LOL!
Oh my gosh, I remember our school would always have assemblies for this dog! I hated him so much because the assemblies were boring and I always just found him obnoxious. I know I'll probably get flamed, but I just can't believe I found one of these! Oh, and of course, I'm going to make my own kids watch these one day, just because I had to. xD
I miss him a lot when I was a kid commercials like this used 2 come on between cartoons I would see them 2 or three times an hour and the message really stuck.
Mcgruff is right you might think it is your dad when you don't know that you are really being kidnapped so avoid being kidnap and teach crooks that there are rules to follow and it is God's task to make sure they do.
@TightSportsNetwork These were scary! I'm in Seattle. Did you ever see a commercial that said "Don't put your life on the electricity/line" in the early 80s?
do you by any chance have the one of the guy running from what he thinks is people coming to get him but it turns out to be only his friends...they told he should have waited for them at the mall???? That was a good one too.
And little do they know when they sit in Santa's lap, the Easter Bunny's lap, shake hands with Tigger, Mickey, famous people, they are 'talking to strangers!' LOL
