Accualy, it cost 3k because of the projecter. Without it it costs around 70.00 US$. But, you can just use a lcd moniter instead. If you don't know the original creator, his name is Johnny Lee.

Smartboards are also hard to use because every time you step up to use it, you cannot see because of shadows!

they made this new smartboard that when u step up 2 use it theres no shadow..

yeah...but it costs alot more money to mount the projector in the ceiling at an angle where it does not cause a shadow. A few classrooms in my school have the SB, and the shadows make it extremely hard to use.

Yeah...i say the way to go is with something called a "Promethean Board" they mount it for you and of course it costs a couple grand but 3 or 4 classes have it and im lucky that my math teacher has one so i use it almost every day

so do they really have like speacial clicker controllers, and speacial markers and erasers for the smart boards.

cause at my school we r getting the smart boards for math and health, and the teachers say that there are those speacial items.

&& we are getting the smart boards in like two weeks

Actually we have a new and better one called the active boards. You cant draw with ur finger on that one.

yes you can, you simply take the pencil tool out of the pocket and use your finger to draw, the smart board uses pressure to work so if you take the special pencil out of its holder the smart board recognizes that you are using it and when you apply pressure to the board with your finger it writes

my dad's a teacher and he got one for his class. the whole school got em but he doesn't know how to use it. he doesn't even use computers so i'll have to learn this and teach him how to use it if the school doesn't. lol. should be fun.

i never even heard of smartboards or interactive whiteboards. in college they just used computers and projectors with powerpoint and i graduate high school in 2002. my, my how the times have changed. technology's just getting better, isn't it?

My school has nearly none. -_- And I live in fucking NYC. The only class that has one is Chemistry but the teacher is an old-fashioned teacher who just prefers to write on the chalkboard. My Math teacher even hated writing on a simple white marker board and changed the room to one with a chalkboard. All the teachers got scared when they switched the chalkboards in some rooms to marker boards too. -_- And my school always thinks it's so good and stuff. -_-

That's because the NYCDE is CHEAP they can even freekin update some of the iMacs still using Panther. Get LEOPARD already!! (According to my cousin) I moved to Long Island 2 years ago and my school district has them all over the schools, including a 2nd grade science class!

My whole school is get one in each classroom, and my school is Monroe Woodbury High School which is if anybody knows about it, ITS A FUCKIN HUGE SCHOOL! haha but yea I like these smartboards. The calibration is pretty easy too.

Actually you can use a SMART Board to model metacognative thinking to primary grade students. It greatly enhances their ability to transfer the knowledge into their schema. I can attest that my teaching has improved greatly with the use of one in my classroom.
