Boresighting your firearm will not hurt. However, by making sure your scope has been properly mounted and aligned with your barrel is the most important. AccuScope will take over from there.
thats pretty cool really, I mean especially for hunters that only use their guns once or twice a year. I shoot alot & have to sight quite a bit. I enjoy it & i reload my own shells so its cheap. But for people that have to buy their own ammo & only shoot a few times a year this is pretty awsome. Anyone know any stores that carry these or do u have to order them off the net?
okay, i know sorta how a scope works but i dont get why you have to sight in a scope... i know if you dont then it'll probably be off but what makes it off?
Yes, AccuScope works with all firearms - Rifles, Shotguns, Muzzleloaders, Pistols and Air Rifles. AccuScope works with the scope you have, not the firearm.
If you are going for the long shots I would use a 1/8 minute of angle chart. But you have to be using a scope that is set up for 1/8 MOA. Most scopes are 1/4 click MOA, which is faster to site in. But if it is extreme results, go with 1/8 MOA.
@cubs1908wsc - You need to look at the dials under your windage and elevation caps to determine the MOA of your scope. This will tell you what AccuScope chart to order.
I couldn't say which one is actually better, they are only different in the terms of what one click equals. The 1/4 MOA is the most popular and the 1/8 MOA can be fine tuned for precise accuracy. What is the most important is actually the quality of the scope being purchased. Many cheaper scopes can not hold the cross hair adjustment determined by the click to the actual MOA that is stated on the scope.
MOA is "Minute of Angle". It is the calibration/measurement system that scopes use for the adjustment. The difference between the MOA's is actually the inch adjustment for each click. 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. The most popular MOA is the 1/4
In theory yes, if everything is correctly mounted. However, your elevation or Drop would need to be adjusted. I would definately verify the 30 or 40 yd shots.
This little chart is amazing. I bought the 1/4" - 1/2" MOA chart and it is dead on with my Gamo Whisper. The 1/4" works with my scope and the 1/2" works with my red dot sight. For those who don't know, what it does is tell you how many clicks to adjust your scope in the windage and elevation values. It does'nt matter what kind of ammo, scope or rifle you have, because if you know how far off from center you were this will tell you the amount of clicks to adjust your scope. 10/10
I doubt if you would be able to use this on a target set at 100 yards if sighting in the rifle for the first time. You would need to use this at a close range (25-30 yards) to get close to bulls eye then move back to 100 yards and repeat the 4 shots. so really its 8 shots to sight in a new rifle. Which is still better than a whole packet.
The AccuScope charts are shipped worldwide. Just make sure you select "Priority Shipping" and put your full name and address in the "Comments Section"
I was not aware there was a boresighter out there that was able to match the ammo you are shooting to the environmental conditions or the characteristics of your rifle.
i said accurate not any of the things you mentioned.
ive got an accuscope in my drag bag but i use a leupold ZERO POINT bore sighter that has a visible projection when you look through the scope which accounts for different ammo, scopes that use 1/4 or 1/8 moa and bullet types/calibres.
accuscope has one advantage however....works for all firearms.
i would zero the air rifle at around 25 yards does the accuscope go down that far or would you need to set it at a higher distance? What the minimum distance you can zero at in relation to the accuscope
nice. i must say i waste a fair amount of time getting my rifle perfectly sighted, so this would be nice when im feeling lazy and am in the need to shoot something. does anyone know if these are available in the UK?
I shoot a 30-06 is it true that if you set it dead on at 50 yards it will be accurate at 200 yards. I have evern heard that if a 30 cal. is set dead on at 25 yards it will be on at 200 yards. I was just wondering. I gotta get me one of those accuscopes.
Sort of but don't think you can zero at close range and get tiny groups at 200yds etc. If your shooting at long range then you should zero at 100yds minimum. You can always zero a couple of inches high, at least then you know that it is only the elevation that changes at different distances (in a world free from wind of course).
ok say i sight my gun in at 100yrds, and i see a deer 300yrds out(via range finder) could i use this nifty chart to adjust my sights and make a kill? and if this cant do that wut can? plz and ty
shoot your rifle more and learn what kind of bullet drop there is at that distance and aim high. I would avoid playing with your scope dials if at all possible. Once you move them, there is no gurantee that when you reverse your changes that the scope is going to go back to the original settings. Shoot and shoot some more is the best way to build the confidence to knock that deer down when the time comes.
eh i was just woundering, my .270 at 2 inches high at 100yrd i have to aim have to aim half a target high at 300 yards. so just a hair above deers back, i can and have dropped deer lol. just woundering if wut i mentioned befor was practiced by other hunters... now was that the 130gr or 150gr...gdamit, i forget. thnx for the reply...cheers
I also shoot a 270 with 150 grain corelockts. I have zeroed it at 200 yds. It hits dead center at 50 ydrs, 2" high at 100 yds. I have not shot past 200 yds but what you have said about aimming just above the deers' back sounds about right. Seems that 150 grain bullet drops around 8" @ 300 yds and then really drops considerably more as the distance increases. Happy shooting and be safe in the deer woods.
I love shooting. Spent the whole afternoon shooting a .177 cal pellet rifle fine tuning the scope it came with and enjoyed it immensely. Can't shoot a deer rifle in town, but the pellet gun helps to take the edge off and keeps my shooting skills honed. Hoppes 9bore cleaner is a smell that reminds me of good times.
depends on weather it's a 1/8 inch moa, a 1/4 inch moa or a 1/2 inch moa, just like he said in the video. look on you elevation and windage dials under the caps and it should say 1 of the 3
Yes it is the same thing, as long as ur scope is a 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 inch MOA.
U can also just calculate the number of clicks urself if u had any math classes. I calculate them myself but it does take some time. A simple chart like this would be really great.
It will be accurate on your left/right (windage)but you have to compensate for different distances due to bullet drop. You will need to consult ballistics charts for the type of ammo you are using to determine the different distance impact. Shotgun slugs differ from muzzleloader from high powered rifles, etc.
