OK. I have a pair of halo projectors for my cobalt and i want to put HID's in them...but im not sure what kind of bulb i need. Can someone tell me?!!!
@DaMeatisLuong You should have just retrofitted your stock housing. Those "halo projector" housings are meant for halogen only and will not perform that much better with HIDs. Now if I were you, I'd disassemble the "halo projectors" and swap out the projectors for a set of bi-xenon projectors. I have Morimoto Mini H1 in my Cobalt stock housing now. What I'd like to do is get a set of those Depo "Generation 4" projector headlights and try to retrofit a set of FX-Rs in them.
@DaMeatisLuong i dont think i wanna go through all that lol. I just wanna try and put HIDs in my halo projectors now to see what they would look like. Do u know the what kind of hid bulb i need?
lmao look at all these haters "HIDs are made for projectors not stock housings" if so then why the FUCK DO THEY MAKE BULBS FOR STOCK HOUSINGS??? just stfu and stop bitching fags
@211gates211 +1! Anyway, beam pattern is still cast by the reflectors and glass the same as if any other bulb were used, Have HID's on my stock FTO with projector style lenses and also on an earlier celica with no visible difference in beam pattern between the 2 cars. (I know because I marked it on the garage in pencil to help with readjustments!) Stop watching videos of HID setups If you hate them you Muppets lol!!! Done correctly HID's are superb and will pass any MOT or vehicle inspection...
@211gates211 lol ur quite stupid m8.. thats because there are some projectors that use same lamp as a refelctor headlamp... for example.. my clio has a projector but uses H1 lamp.. and im sure there are reflector headlights that use H1..
im not saying that hids are not meant for reflectors but dont talk about something that ur not too sure about or have no ideia about..
Another douche. HID lights are used only in projector style headlights. If used in a reflector style it blinds the hell out of other drivers. Instead of being applauded you are booed. I guess ignorance is bliss :D
Older model Prius, Escalade and many other cars used reflector based HID's. New 2011 Foresters and Prius both use reflector based as well. It's not because it's reflector based, it's because the headlamp was designed for Halogen, and not Xenon. But I will say that some standard reflector headlamps take to the retrofit very well, and others are horrible. Just depends if the person is responsible enough to remove them if they are horrible.
Another thing I noticed. At the 8-9 second mark, I see the left foot slamming down on the clutch. Then at the 10 second mark, I see, again, the LEFT foot slamming down on the gas.
I had a PnP Bi-Xenon kit in my Cobalt too. Tell you what, the glare pissed a lot of oncoming drivers off and the high beam kinda sucked. Finally retrofitted a set of Morimoto Mini H1s in them from The Retrofit Source and the results is amazing. I don't need gay-ass 8,000k bulbs for the blueness either. I run 4300k bulbs now and I still get that purple look due to the color flicker effect that these projectors naturally have. Remember.... Don't KIT!! RETROFIT!!
can someone please help me... I purchased the JLM HID CONVERSION KIT 9006 6000K for my 2007 Silverado Pick Up and now I am so pissed off I could puke...
'THEY DONT FIT".... the HID bulb casing is nowhere close to the factory housing on my truck... the bulb itself if the only part that fits... any sugestions?
Anybody who is serious about cars knows that you are a joke the second they see the pnp hid lights especially stupid blue ones in the 8-10k range. Too poor or unskilled to properly retrofit.
fucking people with HIDs in stock headlamps piss me off, i just turn my highbeams on when one is coming towards me, if the fucker is gonna blind me then ill blind hes ass also.
@cubano1389 what if theres an old man driving with his high beams on, hes clueless , and u try to be a badass and flip your high beams so u can blind the fuckers ass, and you actaully blind him...wouldnt that suck! hahahahahahahahahahahahah
@adamtolle Well thats why you can flash people to let them know they are using their high beams and blinding ppl, also HIDs in stock housings are far worst than stock high beams, most cities you dont need high beams so no one has them on even when driving on a dark road but the asshole with HIDs in stock lamps producing all that glare deserve all the high beam there is.
these are pointless. Without projectors or reflectors made for hids you get nowhere near the light out put you should with hids. The light scatters and you blind people. Also 8000k hids look ricey and don't put out much lumens compare to 4300k-5000k. Het oem bulbs such as phillips 85122+ and some projectors and be wow'd by the output.
ok either u dont have any idea about what your saying or your just an idiot, uh ya having projectors is obviously guna concentrate the beam a lot more than having reflectors but sum cars dont have that option dick. I have a 96 a monte carlo and i cant get any kind of headlamps besides OEM so too bad. And uh only when you get 12K do you loose a lot of lumens, I just got a pair of 10k 55w that put out almost 5000 lumens, thats more than a 4300K 35w setup so do some homework
@maxfromerie your obviously making that up. You can retro fit any headlight. I'm retro fitting my motorcycle so don't say it's not an option. How can you say bulbs don't loose lumens.. and where are you getting that measurement of lumens? Yeah okay, a higher temp will put more out if it's on a higher watt system. But if you put 4300k bulbs on a 55w system it will blow 10000k out of the water. Tell me... what bulbs are you using? (brand)
@maxfromerie now other bulbs do make some differences. Such as the new Osram cbi bulbs that are 5000k but still old 3200lm on 35w system. Do to a new design/mixture of salts. Don't so saying things to make it seem like you have an all mighty system. 10000k is a hazard anyways, because blue light it harder for human eyes to adjust to then 4300k (color temp of sunlight [approx].) Therefor you blind other people, and your eyes fatigue faster
@maxfromerie it's called retrofitting man. I have an r6 (motorcycle) with fx-r projectors. So there are always options. It may put out more, but not nearly as much as a 4300k system on a 55w system. the bright bulb out right now are the osrams cbi (5000k). Also when you have colors like 10k they are hard on your eye. 4300-5000k is a more natural light that the sun would putout. There for easier on yours, and other eyes, causing less fatigue. What brand bulbs are you using?
@maxfromerie Did my knowledge own you to hard.. maybe you did some homework and relized that you were the one that you are the on that "dont have any idea about what your saying or your just an idiot"

That was a pretty awesome video! but uhh would not recommend throwing away old bulbs haha. sometimes depending on the quality of hid one may go out. Just sayin.
what HID kit is legal in england? will i get pulled if i put 6k s in the headlight and 3000k in the fog i m not sure is it ok 4 me to have it as parking lamps as if i have it full done up blue all over it might blow up ?? ne advices i want my car to look good but not only this.....safety 4 others on the road counts too so plz some wb thanx.....AWSOME VIDEO
nice vid man, love the editing job. i'm not a big fan of cobalts, but the SS's are alright in my book. at least it's a chevy :-)
I'm gonna be getting 6000k for my lows and 3000k for my highs in my ss10 xtreme soon. i can't wait. my sylvania silverstars are just begging to be retired lol
anybody knows where could i get glare shields for my 2003 Nissan spec v? i have 8000k hid lights, i dont wanna blind anybody, i have not had anybody flashing me.... yet.....
I have a problem..someone help.. my HID lights up fine....but the switch wont turn them off...only on...the only way the lights turn off is if I cut the battery...everything else turns off fine with the switch as normal..but the HID's stay on until I cut the battery...why?
I hate people that upgrade their reflector headlights to HID. The only benefit is having the blue color to it. Every stock HID on the planet uses a projector lens so it doesn't blind the shit out of everyone. When you put them in a reflector housing (like that stupid Cobalt) it spreads the light all over the place which is pointless. If you want to use HID, then buy aftermarket headlights that have the proper projector.
don't ask why the cops keep pulling you over. Are you trying to signal an aircraft to land with all that glare? The difference between oem and your pnp hid kit is that when I pass the oem lights I don't think "douchebag"
This kind of lights are not only distracting but very dangerous to the vision of drivers that look into it. There are some research going about the effects on prolonged use. Use your high beams to warn the users about the danger for you and others,
@gabino72 Don't be a dumbass and look into it then ROFL. Who the hell is that stupid to look into the lights of a car while they should be focusing their eyes on the road.
nice vid.. i hate when people talk shit about HIDs. I used to not be able to tell if my stock lights were even on some nights. The lighting was poor.. I have 10k HIDs now and can see much better. Love them =]
Disclaimer: All Kits are ment for direct O.E.M. Replacement for damaged O.E.M. So your saying i should get red HIDS for my red car ?? Bro this is the dumbest post i read on hids. I go them cause i like the cool blue glow look, and frankly i don't think i wanna drive around with anyother colour.
Thats not what im saying. If thats what you like thats cool and all. All im saying is If i ever got a red car i would put White HIDs, b/c thats my likes.
ah my bad man, normally people get hids cause of the blue glow, other then that they stick with stock. I would like to get hids but with the projectors.
The color from the outside is pointless to me. Personally, when I'm driving down a dark curvy county road, I want something that lights the road. 6k's light the road very well, and I think it goes well with any color vehicle.
you should do a proper HID projector (fx35 or TL) retrofit and get DR2 hid bulbs, your current bulbs are not legal and can blind on coming traffic too much glare
as long as they dont blind him then who cares! lol jk. ive had hids since october and ive never gotten pulled over for them. ppl dont even flash there lights at me. i had on guy shield his eyes as he drove by but that dosnt count he looked like a pussy
I just installed Sylvania SilverStar ULTRA Bulbs for my headlights and foglights and its sick. With 4100K, you get a brrrright headlight, not one of the cheesy looking blue shits, unless thats what you're looking for...
If you are using these cheap HIDs then I would suggest that you buy the 6000K, do not go beyond or less than that. Belok 6000k becomes too super white and hits the eye. Beyond 8000k it become too blue which is illegal and cuases too much glare.
The ending is very true. Once you go with HID's, you will never go back to stock. I had 8000k single beam, but I got flashed all the time even with they were pointed low so I order 8000k bi xenon. That way if any one flashes me I can flash back. Can't wait until they get here.
That's stupid. They are flashing you because of the glare, so you order a whole new kit just to flash people back? How about getting some fucking HID projectors for your headlights, so people don't flash you in the first place...
Hi it depends what kind of HID you have. The cheap china ones are not legal. The original HID costs around $1000 to $1200. Thats the one what BMW, Mercedes, and Rolls Royce uses. The other ones what you are going to buy like $100 to $200 are not right and illegal.
Is it safe to buy these after market lights, meaning after installation something happens of coarse it is electrical anything can happen. If some part of the HID gets bad then do you have to buy the entire kit again.
Rsxrider44 just go to like yahoo or google and type in your year and car and search it. or go to auto zone and ask. i searched on yahoo. i just typed in 2001 audi a6 bulb size and i just clicked on sites til i found it.
dude, you're not supposed to install HID's in a reflector headlight housing. it's illegal and you will cause oncoming traffic BLINDNESS. find some headlights with projectors. looks better too.
what are the kits for? I thought u just buy the lights bulbs and install them like plug and play.. Im looking for some for my 03 tacoma but i dont want the real bright blue ones but i would like blue..Any ideas what kind and where i could find them?
Ive been getting info on the web cause i want to upgrade and so far i know you cant just buy the bulbs and plug it in, on the HID kits there comes a thing called ballast that is neccesary to lit the HID bulbs.
HID is differnt from your bulbs u buy at a store..brighter and last longer but dont be a ricer and just put HID bulbs in your car...get a projector retrofit...
there is some plug-n-play style ones i got them in my S-10 it just plugs into where the old bulb would plug in they are 6000k and are white i think you need at least 8000k to get blue try ebay or some performance stores around you
Wrong. I don't know where people always get this conflicting info, but NO hid kit is legal, unless it's oem. Look in the DOT regulations. It has nothing to do with color, but with the glare.
12k might be illegal but anything less shouldnt, the stock headlights arent white they are yellow and my 10k hid for the most part still project a white light 500 feet way way over 500 feet and way over the stock headlights beam. and i dont have projectors either
i have a 2003 cadillac escalade which has factory hid and it dose not have projector means and no it does cause a scattered beam and the only reasons it blinds drivers is because poeple look at the blue if they had white hid people would not look at the hid as much
Yea dont put them in reflector headlights one if u have stock reflector headlight you have a cheap car anyways. Im tired of seeing chevy trucks with big blue square lights because they love hid's. morons. I have projectors on my lexus with hids and they look good but this not so much
they not illegal stock head lights are yellow so you think these are blue there more clear then stock im also a police officer for my town and there no illegal. well at least not in my state.
these are illegal dumb shit. Contact the DOT and you'll find out. These lights blind people and cause dangerous driving situation. The beam is scattered and hits the oncoming drivers, blinding them. Being a cop doesn't seem to help what YOU know.
Wrong-o buddy. Aftermarket HID kits in reflector housings are illegal nationwide because they are not DOT approved. Your state just doesn't tell you to pull people over for it YET.
i have HID in my reflector housing, but i have a SAAB 9-3 and i have Ecoded lenses which direct the light in a flat beam like projectors. = ) people that dont shouldnt be putting HID in their headlights cuz A. It looks stupid and very un-OEM, and B. you blind the shit outta everyone.
HID's are not illegal in the US. If you have HID bulbs that are stock than that means your vehicle has projector headlights. If you have regular halogen stock housings with HID bulbs in them you can get a ticket. Just depends how much of an a*s the cop wants to be.
I hate when I take a dump and the water splashes my asshole!! FUCKING HATE IT!!

I'm gonna be getting 6000k for my lows and 3000k for my highs in my ss10 xtreme soon. i can't wait. my sylvania silverstars are just begging to be retired lol

Factory installed HIDs are cool, it's the douchebags that do the halogen to HID conversions that are uncool.

anybody knows where could i get glare shields for my 2003 Nissan spec v? i have 8000k hid lights, i dont wanna blind anybody, i have not had anybody flashing me.... yet.....
RodrigoMJ32 1 year ago
@RodrigoMJ32 I think you just have to addjust the head lights
Because the axis or hot spot of the HID's is higher the the regular light.

If you want to use HID, then buy aftermarket headlights that have the proper projector.
gdhowe 1 year ago
Not every HID on the planet uses a projector. D2S bulbs are for projectors, D2R bulbs are for reflectors

don't ask why the cops keep pulling you over. Are you trying to signal an aircraft to land with all that glare? The difference between oem and your pnp hid kit is that when I pass the oem lights I don't think "douchebag"
NeoDeterminist 1 year ago
This kind of lights are not only distracting but very dangerous to the vision of drivers that look into it. There are some research going about the effects on prolonged use. Use your high beams to warn the users about the danger for you and others,
gabino72 1 year ago
@gabino72 Don't be a dumbass and look into it then ROFL. Who the hell is that stupid to look into the lights of a car while they should be focusing their eyes on the road.

There isn't one, they are all from china and all suck. Morimoto is the only after market ballast that is any good, go with OEM ballasts and bulbs.

nice vid.. i hate when people talk shit about HIDs. I used to not be able to tell if my stock lights were even on some nights. The lighting was poor.. I have 10k HIDs now and can see much better. Love them =]

Your kit came with that disclaimer right??

Disclaimer: All Kits are ment for direct O.E.M. Replacement for damaged O.E.M. im never going to understand why people put blue HIDs on red cars.
4POINT3TropicalStorm 2 years ago
So your saying i should get red HIDS for my red car ?? Bro this is the dumbest post i read on hids. I go them cause i like the cool blue glow look, and frankly i don't think i wanna drive around with anyother colour.
vladster7272 1 year ago
Thats not what im saying. If thats what you like thats cool and all. All im saying is If i ever got a red car i would put White HIDs, b/c thats my likes.
4POINT3TropicalStorm 1 year ago
ah my bad man, normally people get hids cause of the blue glow, other then that they stick with stock. I would like to get hids but with the projectors.
vladster7272 1 year ago
The color from the outside is pointless to me. Personally, when I'm driving down a dark curvy county road, I want something that lights the road. 6k's light the road very well, and I think it goes well with any color vehicle.

you should do a proper HID projector (fx35 or TL) retrofit and get DR2 hid bulbs, your current bulbs are not legal and can blind on coming traffic too much glare

if they are aimed correctly they are fine shut up and take the boat out of your ass its common sense

what makes it illegal is the higher beam pattern. If you point it down then it wouldnt cause so much glare
fallout09890 2 years ago
I just installed Sylvania SilverStar ULTRA Bulbs for my headlights and foglights and its sick. With 4100K, you get a brrrright headlight, not one of the cheesy looking blue shits, unless thats what you're looking for...
cromatical 2 years ago
If you are using these cheap HIDs then I would suggest that you buy the 6000K, do not go beyond or less than that. Belok 6000k becomes too super white and hits the eye. Beyond 8000k it become too blue which is illegal and cuases too much glare.
fachy1981 2 years ago
The ending is very true. Once you go with HID's, you will never go back to stock. I had 8000k single beam, but I got flashed all the time even with they were pointed low so I order 8000k bi xenon. That way if any one flashes me I can flash back. Can't wait until they get here.
FridayNightLights321 2 years ago
That's stupid. They are flashing you because of the glare, so you order a whole new kit just to flash people back? How about getting some fucking HID projectors for your headlights, so people don't flash you in the first place...
ambientflier 2 years ago
I do have projectors and I still got flashed.
FridayNightLights321 2 years ago
Hi it depends what kind of HID you have. The cheap china ones are not legal. The original HID costs around $1000 to $1200. Thats the one what BMW, Mercedes, and Rolls Royce uses. The other ones what you are going to buy like $100 to $200 are not right and illegal.
fachy1981 2 years ago
Just want to know if you went with the bi-exnon? or the base 9007?

awesome lights bro i just got my 10000k for my cobalt i was wonderin where did you put your 2 ballast

i found some real quality kits that use HELLA ballasts at hidconversionkits,co,nr
fast delivery and easier than risking on one of those ebay listings. Prices for HIDs have been dropping a lot lately it seems

Is it safe to buy these after market lights, meaning after installation something happens of coarse it is electrical anything can happen. If some part of the HID gets bad then do you have to buy the entire kit again.

How do you wire HIDS into the fog lights?? I know it sounds stupid but idk
Rsxrider44 2 years ago
when you remove the Headlight... IT sits on top of the entrance to the fogs... i Myslef have 10000k HID in headlamp and fogs
dbz4life123 2 years ago
So you dont use a certain bulb for the fog lights? Its just the same bulb as the HID headlights??
Rsxrider44 2 years ago
When you buy an HID kit you have to choose the bulb type and Temp type ( color)...The cobalts headlight are 9007 and the fog is H11
dbz4life123 2 years ago
I have a dodge R/T truck so idk my number
Rsxrider44 2 years ago
Rsxrider44 just go to like yahoo or google and type in your year and car and search it. or go to auto zone and ask. i searched on yahoo. i just typed in 2001 audi a6 bulb size and i just clicked on sites til i found it.

djalex3571 2 years ago
dude, you're not supposed to install HID's in a reflector headlight housing. it's illegal and you will cause oncoming traffic BLINDNESS. find some headlights with projectors. looks better too.

what are the kits for? I thought u just buy the lights bulbs and install them like plug and play.. Im looking for some for my 03 tacoma but i dont want the real bright blue ones but i would like blue..Any ideas what kind and where i could find them?
Fox250R 2 years ago
Ive been getting info on the web cause i want to upgrade and so far i know you cant just buy the bulbs and plug it in, on the HID kits there comes a thing called ballast that is neccesary to lit the HID bulbs.
AvengingShadow 2 years ago
HID is differnt from your bulbs u buy at a store..brighter and last longer but dont be a ricer and just put HID bulbs in your car...get a projector retrofit...
VENTRUE05 2 years ago
there is some plug-n-play style ones i got them in my S-10 it just plugs into where the old bulb would plug in they are 6000k and are white i think you need at least 8000k to get blue try ebay or some performance stores around you
SilverGecko1 2 years ago
800k and under is leagal
jayro121 2 years ago
Wrong. I don't know where people always get this conflicting info, but NO hid kit is legal, unless it's oem. Look in the DOT regulations. It has nothing to do with color, but with the glare.
ambientflier 2 years ago

I have 2 questions is the hid kit easy to install and if so where can i get them at
airline2009 2 years ago
i think it's better you make it like a projector headlight , after you change it to HID..
it needs more shroud to reduce the glare at the side...and more focus in the front but lower angle....
dimes1827 2 years ago
12k might be illegal but anything less shouldnt, the stock headlights arent white they are yellow and my 10k hid for the most part still project a white light 500 feet way way over 500 feet and way over the stock headlights beam. and i dont have projectors either
rmeek 2 years ago
i have a 2003 cadillac escalade which has factory hid and it dose not have projector means and no it does cause a scattered beam and the only reasons it blinds drivers is because poeple look at the blue if they had white hid people would not look at the hid as much
txmball93 2 years ago
do you have a relay? i have the same car and wondering if i will need it
dbz4life123 2 years ago
If u cant get projectors don't install them
zuneluvr 2 years ago
Yea dont put them in reflector headlights one if u have stock reflector headlight you have a cheap car anyways. Im tired of seeing chevy trucks with big blue square lights because they love hid's. morons. I have projectors on my lexus with hids and they look good but this not so much
sc2jz300 2 years ago
judging from the pattern, i bet those are in the stock halogen reflectors which ARE illegal.

SomethingNewEveryDay 2 years ago
they not illegal stock head lights are yellow so you think these are blue there more clear then stock im also a police officer for my town and there no illegal. well at least not in my state.
ozzyr333 2 years ago
these are illegal dumb shit. Contact the DOT and you'll find out. These lights blind people and cause dangerous driving situation. The beam is scattered and hits the oncoming drivers, blinding them. Being a cop doesn't seem to help what YOU know.
zuneluvr 2 years ago
ok man illegal or not, best wished and blessings using that lights in rainy :o
McLaranium 2 years ago
Wrong-o buddy. Aftermarket HID kits in reflector housings are illegal nationwide because they are not DOT approved. Your state just doesn't tell you to pull people over for it YET.
ttownep 2 years ago
i have HID in my reflector housing, but i have a SAAB 9-3 and i have Ecoded lenses which direct the light in a flat beam like projectors. = ) people that dont shouldnt be putting HID in their headlights cuz A. It looks stupid and very un-OEM, and B. you blind the shit outta everyone.
solesified86 2 years ago
Good video though!
saddy78 2 years ago
HID's are not illegal in the US. If you have HID bulbs that are stock than that means your vehicle has projector headlights. If you have regular halogen stock housings with HID bulbs in them you can get a ticket. Just depends how much of an a*s the cop wants to be.
saddy78 2 years ago
