Jerry is an idiot. He doesn't understand that if a job is not properly adapted to it's market value (which government jobs cannot be) then it has a tendency to either cost too much money or simply not be as productive as it could be. Let's say the gov employs someone to build a road, how does the gov know where the road is to be built in the most effective possible way? What quality is preferrable? It doesn't know because there is fundamentally no direct demand as you cannot decide not to pay.

What Jerry doesn't get about taxation is that bureaucrats and politicians make more than the average private sector worker, so for the same amount of money the private sector creates more jobs. Politicians and bureaucrats make rules and regs. that also prohibit a lot of activity, like the DEA. If we didn't have a DEA we would have Millions of legal drug industry jobs, but instead we pay to put these ppl in cages. Hey, but we employ 4,000 DEA Agents! Just an example of how taxation stunts groth.
