  • Another example of vintage CBC, eh!

  • What's with the background voices heard near the end of the music? Did they leave the house mics on in the studio while they played the credits?

  • I watched season one on DVD release. I was lucky to have caught seasons 4 and part of 5 on reruns. Question: what happened to Tina (Rosemary Radcliffe) in season 5? The finale episode in s4 was hilarious and touching when Larry and Tina expressed their love for one another. Then she was gone in season 5 ... what happened? No mention?

  • The scenery in the theme sequence... I am reminded of the part of Court Street in Brooklyn near where my maternal grandma lived. Lots of shops/restaurants, and much of the operation out on the sidewalk in front of the store.

  • I'm only 21, but I watched all the reruns of this show with my dad and grandpa! I'm from Toronto and I actually know Ardon Bess who plays Nestor in this show! He's a friend of my dad's :)

  • What ever happened to John Dee and Bob Vinci, di they pass away, are in some Canadian TV nursing home? the IMDB gives no reference as such.

  • a worthy search! fellow Kings, besearcheth forth!

  • @LeylandNational01 Yeah, and why were they and Ardon Bess written out of the show after the 2nd season? Thye were great characters and were good examples of Toronto's multiculturalism.

  • @swingersfan I think they were tring to retool the show somehow, plus when Cathy divoced King perhaps they felt the show was running out of steam.

  • @LeylandNational01 Hey did you notice how in the very first episode they say King's Variety Store was located on Pembroke St.? That street is nowhere near the Market! It's near Yonge-Dundas Square.

  • @LeylandNational01 Perhaps you're fucking blind. It says very clearly on IMDb that Dee died in 1994.

  • I was only in Toronto once, but I liked it. I'd like to go again, when the weather gets warmer.

  • I remember when I was about 12 yrs old my parents wathced the show & told me about it. Now at the age of 35, I looked it up & there I was was.....its insane!!!! LOL!!!

  • OMG....I was the kid pointing at something??? When it reads directed by George Bloomfield, this is crazy...my parents still shop there to this day!

  • you were that kid? wow. in a small way you are a part of my life. i mean, that kidwho doesn't instantly remember that kid pointing at something?

  • Whadda guyyy!!

  • Ha, ha, ha!! How ironic!!! I just finished watching THIS episode on TV, less than 10 minutes ago!! LOL! This is one of my top favorite shows.

  • the one with the hooker who moves in to kensington, right?

  • Yep, that's right.

  • well good job identifying it! you only had a quick fade-out of King embracing the ladies for reference.

  • Loved this show growing up.

  • me too. no matter how bad it was, i strangely never missed an episode.

    thanks!
