4:22 YouTube video: Jerry Reed introduction; at 1:58 singing his 1971 hit "When You're Hot, You're Hot" in Toledo, 1983.
March 20, 1937: birth of Jerry Reed, American singer and actor (d. 2008); known for "When You're Hot, You're Hot," Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1972.
Shabbat does not begin in Royal Palm Beach, Florida until 7:58pm- Crazy Kenny finished his job @ 6:29pm. He still got perfect timing... When you're hot... you're hot. I almost had one hour and half left on the clock...
Hey jedzxor....i was at this concert at the Lucas County Rec Center and still have the ticket stub. Are you from Maumee by any chance? Thanks for posting this as i have told the story of how he made his entrance in a Mack truck!
Sorry, but the GRAMMYS don't agree with you as this song received A Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1972. Jerry Reed, born Jerry Reed Hubbard on March 20, 1937. American Country music singer/guitarist/session musician/songwriter/and actor who appeared in 13 films. He also got A Grammy for "EAST BOUND and DOWN" the theme song for SMOKEY and THE BANDIT, in which he co-starred. Jerry died on September 1st, 2008 at age 71. Go to Jerry Reed wiki for more info.
He was doing a show at a hotel i did room service in I went down to watch him practice and he ordered some food and invited me to eat with him. He was truly down to earth and loved his fans.
I think I can safely say that there will never be another Jerry Reed. He had a style all his own. I'll miss his great talent and his great sense of humor.
I saw him in 1985 @ the SEMO county fair in southern Missouri. He had 3 other gutiar players in the band on that tour, but he played lead on just about every song the entire show, I mean PICK'N THE HELL OUT OF THAT GUT-IAR!
I remember this song from the seventies. I saw him in "Smokey and The Bandit" with my dad. I have a cousin who wrote a song for Jerry called "Forty Four". I think it was the flip side to "She Got The Goldmine (I Got The Shaft).
he truly was always a great entertainer, he will be missed, we are lucky we have this technology today that lets us see him and whomever else whenever we like.
I'm just having fun with y'all since I'm originally from Cincinnati. Now, Detroit is a whole 'nother story! Thanks for taking hapless Rudi Johnson and ancient Jon Kitna off our hands....we have a Super Bowl to win this year. Will the Lions even win 3 games this year? Hmmmmm...
Rest in Peace my friend. We met in Houston just after "When You're Hot, You're Hot" was recorded. I've been a huge fan since then! We will all miss you.
I've always loved him even though I was an infant when he sang live...My dad and I used to sing together when he'd drive me back and forth from A&M. Thanks for posting this!!!
2:35-2:43 is just what I like about Jerry Reed...always having fun on stage. Saw this video 100 times and it still makes me smile...thanks Jerry!!!!

brad paisley's pretty cool. listen to throttleneck and i'm still a guy. great stuff...

Brad Paisley is like Jerry the last of dying breed, sorta similar guitar styles too
jimmyischill5790 3 years ago 2
jimmyischill5790: Speaking of Brad Paisley, he played a small part of Reed's "The Claw" last year at the CMA's, in tribute to Reed.
Also, Brent Mason can play that Jerry Reed-style guitar pretty well too!
