As for the video I can't believe that GTi did as well as it did, especially if it was a standard 197. I just couldn't live with an EVO, it's too much effort. Got a Golf GTi pirelli with 300bhp (ish) and it's so easy to live with and cruises lovely.
i like the evo but the mr is shit. has the biggest turbo lag. and you see that because it took a bit for a 294hp evo to pass a 198hp gti. i have drivin both of them and off take off or a rolling start the mr goes no where. you get a much better responce from the gti.

That's not true. The DSG is the fastest shifting transmission in the world. The drive on them is very comfortable and solid. They are cheap but I don't believe VW's are reliable by any means. I have both evo and vw's at least be biast when it's true. BTW you spelled Saleen wrong guy.

@lardauk i dont understand what u were trying to say with the last sentence but ill answer the question i think u were trying to ask. with the evo its not about flashy intiror or how nice the dash looks or plaid seats its about functionality. the rocaros are better then anything in a gti or subaru, the dash is what it needs to be nothing more, the gauge cluster is bright and easy to read. thats all i need. most if not all evo owners are performance nuts so its the perfect car for them :)

I own a 08 2.5 rabbit they are the same thing as the gti but they keep changing the names. A vw r32 an vr6 will some alot of new cars. We raced a 09 mercades Benz the very same day I bought my car
rabbit isnt the same as a gti. rabbit is a 2.5l inline5 engine and i believe the 08 has 170hp. the 08 gti on the other hand is inline4 but turbo'd and produces 200hp. oh and suspension/brakes are different as well...among other shit

Dude...FWD is not better than AWD on the track, on the freeway or in a straight away it depends because most AWD cars are specificaly built for the track and muscle cars are mostly used in drags etc. etc.. Yeah SAAB 9-3 can beat both of those cars in stock form, but my viggen lost to a highly modded 08 gti off the line he had over 15K in mods and he did not win by much.I was able to hang on the freeway thanks to the 21 lbs, I think the OG 9-3's are lighter than both cars anyway and amazingly built way!......better

I run 13.7's with just chip, intake, exhaust in a mkv. Sorry but from a roll the only stock evo that can take me is maybe an evo 9. This is a 6mt also. The 2.0t is alot more powerful then the 1.8t. Basic bolt ons puts it at the same power level as a k04 equipped 1.8t.

I think you're mistaken and may want to do a little research. The modded golf would have severe trouble hanging with Evo in standard trim never mind modded. The 10.5t Evo MR turbine has quick spool up, not too much off the k03, the only turbine in the MR series which has severe lag is the Garret GT28 fitted to the MR400. Even if you did catch a 400 off boost, when he spools up you wouldn't have a hope.

My brother owned a MKIV 1.8t tuned by Jabbasport, 3" system, remap, carbonio induction etc. I recently sold my VIII FQ300, there is no way my brothers golf could get near it even when it was standard 305bhp/300lbs. I mildly modded it & sold it, it would have been more than safe to assume it'd be knocking on 400bhp.
A revo remap on the 2.0 FSI only sees around 280lbs which isn't even as much as a starndard FQ300.
I know revo stats but my gti has apr chip which is expensive but its really good i know the evo has great handling but it also depends on the driver to make it handle good i am a better driver than the guy with the evo that i raced dont worry im getting my R32 which is better AWD system then the EVO the AWD system on the R32 is the same one they use on the Bentley GT

Dude...FWD is not better than AWD on the track, on the freeway or in a straight away it depends because most AWD cars are specificaly built for the track and muscle cars are mostly used in drags etc. etc.. Thats why they have different classes for each type of race/car, to distinguish which is better for what.

Yeah SAAB 9-3 can beat both of those cars in stock form, but my viggen lost to a highly modded 08 gti off the line he had over 15K in mods and he did not win by much.I was able to hang on the freeway thanks to the 21 lbs, I think the OG 9-3's are lighter than both cars anyway and amazingly built way!......better

im a vw tech but you dont have to be VW AG certified to know that a 3.2L tt will walk all over a 2.2 turbo (AMS's stroker evo) not that you have it anyway but its still a fact. a built V8 would rape either in my experiences but then again, to most japanese enthusiasts racing from a 60mph roll against a V8 isnt pussy-like because they have to get their giant turbos spooled to make power.

I run 13.7's with just chip, intake, exhaust in a mkv. Sorry but from a roll the only stock evo that can take me is maybe an evo 9. This is a 6mt also. The 2.0t is alot more powerful then the 1.8t. Basic bolt ons puts it at the same power level as a k04 equipped 1.8t.

dude i have a mkv gti and with just a chip you will own the evo 8 beacuase the mkv gti has much better turbo beacuse theres hardly any turbo lag on gti as where the evo has shitloads of turbo lag

I think you're mistaken and may want to do a little research. The modded golf would have severe trouble hanging with Evo in standard trim never mind modded. The 10.5t Evo MR turbine has quick spool up, not too much off the k03, the only turbine in the MR series which has severe lag is the Garret GT28 fitted to the MR400. Even if you did catch a 400 off boost, when he spools up you wouldn't have a hope.

Im talking from experience.
My brother owned a MKIV 1.8t tuned by Jabbasport, 3" system, remap, carbonio induction etc. I recently sold my VIII FQ300, there is no way my brothers golf could get near it even when it was standard 305bhp/300lbs. I mildly modded it & sold it, it would have been more than safe to assume it'd be knocking on 400bhp.
A revo remap on the 2.0 FSI only sees around 280lbs which isn't even as much as a starndard FQ300.

With 4wd transmission loss and maybe 200kg weight difference it would be pretty even but that's on a FQ model, not MR which is vastly different.
Any Evo would outhandle a Golf. Anything after an FQ300 and you would have no chance atall.

I know revo stats but my gti has apr chip which is expensive but its really good i know the evo has great handling but it also depends on the driver to make it handle good i am a better driver than the guy with the evo that i raced dont worry im getting my R32 which is better AWD system then the EVO the AWD system on the R32 is the same one they use on the Bentley GT

GTI with chip and exhaust or whatever he said has no chance against the stock EVO. That EVO in the video was having mechanical problems or he didnt go at it. OR the GTI was heavy modded (with a bigger turbo then the chicken egg sized stock one).

Secondly, believe it or not, evos are not THAT fast, it's just that they can launch fast. From a roll, lightly modded skittles can hang with them, lightly modded (IHE, chip) GTis and Jettas can hang with them..

The R32 is not true AWD. The AWD only works when the traction becomes and issue. Anyhow..don't give the GTI too much credit. I've driven both GTI and EVO and EVO MR and there is no comparison.
