  • good to watch the old stones, with the man brian jones playing,he could play any thing ,i like the stones always will ,but not the same without brian jones.

  • Fuck you Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Richard Ashcroft wrote one of the most beautiful songs in recent history, and you both stripped him of his glory, you old, gutless bastards. You couldn't handle the fact that the song he wrote was having such success, so you went and fucked it all up for everyone. Yeah, because you sooo desperately needed those royalties, like you don't have enough from all the other overrated shit songs you cunts wrote. Fuck off, rollover & fall in a pit of rusty needles

  • @Leclerc2342 Your 'BITTER SWEET SYMPHONY " IS signed Jagger /Richard...this is the reason is so good...BE INFORMED BEFORE TO WRITE,DULL....

  • @nokingnolies Hey fuckface... Ashcroft obtained the right to sample Andrew Loog Oldham's orchestral version of "The Last Time", and when it became a huge hit, Jagger/Richards and Oldham decided to sue, claiming that Ashcroft abused his privilege to sample... The original orchestral arrangement is 1 riff looped for 3 minutes. Ashcroft took the main riff and used it as the basis for "Bitter Sweet Symphony". Jagger & co. won in court, and then went even further by getting the songwriting credits

  • @nokingnolies Be informed before you write dumbass

  • Rumors floating about that Keith Richards and Mick Jagger are meeting in NY this month (January) to discuss a new CD and then a new tour -yes, in 2012. A 50-year anniversary tour in the makes for the Rolling Stones. Any fans out there? "Oh nooo, could this be 'The Last Time'"? ;-)

  • sooooooooo Geil!!!!!!!!!!

    thx.

  • I absolutely love this video.

  • this is one of my favs by them!!

  • mick ♥

  • @BassBarney why the f*** did i not understand ur comment

  • @housemonzter In fact, much people thinks that RS ruined The Verve but really was RS Manager, a very sad, sad story. Both bands are great, sorry for Richard Ashcroft. Maybe you can undestand better if listen Last Time of Andrew Oldham Orchestra (RS Manager) search it.

  • housemonzter,its just big business..

  • Why did the Verve get sued?? This sounds nothing like Bittersweet symphony.. Someone please explain!

  • @housemonzter

Bitter Sweet Symphony, according to wikipedia, "is based on music from an Andrew Loog Oldham adaptation of a Rolling Stones song, 'The Last Time'".

Andrew Loog Oldham was manager and producer of The Rolling Stones.

Basically, the Stones' manager created his own orchestrated version of this song, and then The Verve sampled that song to create Bitter Sweet Symphony. Google/YouTube it!

  • excelentes pero the verve es the verve...

  • brian jones was way better than mouthy jagger, RIP BRIAN.

  • Amazing work The Verve, you create a song to remember, much better than this.

  • @Zacker18 if there was no Rollingstones there would be no Verve.

  • @Zacker18 just pisses me the stones claiming credits for bittersweet because there is a kinda pastiche in the first part. anyway pathethic, centuries ago that was actually expectable.

  • Su satanica majestad!!!

  • aww that smile 0:29

  • Brian Jones!!!!

The man, the myth, the legend ; )

  • Is that George Harrison? :o

  • The Bittersweet lawsuit isn't about this version of the song.

  • maybe the last time i dont know...... oh no, oh no!

  • i think the stones should have let them have that song....cuz....they never made it anyways lol

  • The Rolling Stones Rock !!

  • I guess if I imagine the verses slowed down, I can vaguely hear the resemblance between this & Bittersweet Symphony. But, for the Rolling Stones to sue over it & win...(?!) The judge must have had one of those old-school contraptions that slowed a 7" record to a 12". I'd like to hear how it sounds. If anyone has the tech., feel free to upload, then inform me of it ;-)

  • Can anyone else see the resemblance between 0:16 - 0:19 and the first line of Bittersweet Symphony? Cos I can.

  • @fifaclubXD: Lol. You have so much to learn.

  • @MusicalElitist1 No seriously, listen carefully to the first cupla lines, slow it down in your head and then you'll hear the resemblance

  • jones was the best musician in the band, they didn't dis him, the drugs did...

  • I love 60s music and I respect Rolling Stones music, some good tracks. However I think Jagger and Richards are horrible and very selfish. They treated Brian like crap, Jagger was a d*ck to Marianne Faithfull and other women. Jagger, with his business acumen, didn't help other 60s musicians from the sharks managers, only himself.

To really stick the knife in they claim copyright for The Verve's 'Bitter Sweet Symphony'. I've heard both songs. They sound nothing alike. wth? o_0

  • 0:46 - 0:49 Jizzed in his pants

  • Brian Jones is the fucking man.

  • this sounds nothing like bittersweet symphony

  • Comment removed

  • you know whats scary? jagger looks older, but not that much different. but boy he sounds the same.

  • mick is the man

  • 0:28

    :3

  • Brian was da man before Keith

  • Comment removed

  • geez the camera man has to stop putting the camera on bill !!lol

  • only one Brian Jones! All the rest can fuck off!

  • @mcmango84 idiot

  • please watchers, keep your fingers crossed, and this could be the last time

  • Fuck Mick Jagger, BitterSweet Symphony is true (Y)

  • aweesome!

  • I guess back then the Stones knew they had it whenever Bill Wyman unconsciously locked the base in those 87 deg.

  • ahhhhh Miiiiiiiick, I'LL try very hard to please you..... :)

  • THE VERVE!!!

  • actually view # 3333333-3333336

  • I don't mind mimed songs for TV only, not concerts obviously.

  • why fucked my dad my mum so late?

  • @BassBarney

    420

  • @BassBarney why did my dad fuck my mum so late ? * is that what you mean

  • @BassBarney well judging by you're brilliant grammar skills, many

  • @BassBarney how do you know it was your dad

  • WOW!!!! I AM SMILING...STONES FOREVER!!!!

  • the legend stones

  • This song and preformance are amazing ! I cant believe how different they all look.

  • @meucury8eye

Yea, it´s only 46 years ago!

  • @meucury8eye , U may not realise, but in those day , they mimed. but still well done.

  • Fantastic song and performance. Too bad it was all downhill from here performance-wise. I am kidding in a way but isn't so much cooler to see Mick stand and dance a little instead of seeing the overwrought flamboyancy his performance has become.

  • I definitely hear where Richard A. of the Verve got his inspiration from for BSS, but seriously, the songs sound NOTHING alike. If you compare Katy Perry's "E.T." with Tatoo's "All the things she said" - now THERE's a rip off, no question about it, but these songs are TOTALLY different, different genre different interpretation, different use of the same intro. What the BSS whole melody consists of is barely the first few seconds of intro of The Last Time.

Too bad that Andrew LO is such a doushe

  • @TheGuardianizz pompous ass

  • A great song ...

    The Rolling Stones Forever .

  • the rolling stones were cool as fuck in the 60s !!! i think they lost something when brian jones died ! he was the man !

  • 2:15 Rock´n roll face

  • 2:22 Rock´n roll face

  • cool

  • In which moment does it resemble Bittersweet Symphony?

  • @Aleols1 Listen very closely

  • @Aleols1 Listen to the riff of this song, then listen closely to the guitar part of Bittersweet Symphony.

  • They were consummate musicians, they spent years starving in filthy bedsits just making music. They were heavily into the blues studying every chord of all the old blues records - they hated pop

  • Bill Wyman must be a pro at poker.

  • @ciaobellakate The Engine Room Should be Blow Decks. Wyman and Watts defined it. :)

  • @Anselcat1952 - Greatest rhythm section in rock history, agreed! I saw The Rolling Stones' entire career. The rock bands' rock band. Let us not forget Keef Riffhard. Saw Keith Richards in concert in 1979 with his pick-up band, The New Barbarians. To me, Keef is the heart and soul of The Stones. Brian Jones was actually the founder and the most gifted musician. Missed him bigtime since 1969. Peace.

  • @ciaobellakate would love to see him and Entwistle in a standoff

  • I read that the name "Rolling Stones" from Keith Richards book "Life " came about as a fluke.

  • @zzhamstring yes, the name was chosen at short notice after I think a Muddy Waters tune 'Rollin' Stone Blues'.

  • THIS GAY < MIKE AND THE WHOL IS TOTAL SCAM / SHIT

  • Solid, solid tune! One of their best!

  • Our dear friend Jagger isn't the best dancer but a very very very good singer :D if you ask me, MJ dances better but I don't want to compare legends!

    LOVE THE ROLLING STONES!

  • Is it weird that I think Keith looks better AFTER he started hitting the hard drugs?

  • @steviea427

You're not the only one. Early 60s Keef is adorable but around '72 he is all sex.

  • @ciaobellakate Yes, I couldn't put my finger on it but that is exactly right.

  • beatles are finished, stones still going strong, they were all good, don't put them down.

  • Beatlle wannabees

  • @jacquelineholguin

Actually, they didn't. They were never into pop and although they were friends with the Beatles their early stuff is heavily influenced by blues.

  • i saw them unloading thier gear out of a bedford tk van in 63 or 4or5 at rochester i was with my girl friend jane bennet no other fans were there and as we walked on Bo Diddley came out of the Gaumont exit to help them in with their gear, then Jane was 15 wot year were you born jane ?

  • I like how well he plays the high hat

  • Move like Jagger! :P

  • god loves the stones

i long live for thire new hit cd od tunes

lets go mick keith charlie and ronnie

    BRING IT

  • R.I.P. Bryan

  • Keith is so cute I could eat him.

  • <3 this song :D

  • Actually was Andrew Oldham Orchestra and was made in 1965.

  • They didn't sue The Verve. The "orchestra" that did an instrumental version later that sued.. Keith Richards shared in mid 80's that he could care less...

  • My mom worked at the Ritz (bingo hall) in Kings Heath Birmingham in the early 60`s when they played there. She said they were overpaid scruffy buggers .. LOL if only she could see the future !

  • @m2mark1

Maybe your mom is overpaid and a scruffy bugger...

  • @rockthistown17 yeah and she caught the clap of your dad.....but you never knew him did you..

  • @m2mark1 sweetheart, you are right. I love women like you!

  • Can't believe they sued the Verve over this. Ridiculous. Not enough piles of cash Jagger? Lost a bit of respect for the Stones today. Still love the music though...

  • i dont hear the similitude, seriuosly

  • that stage is cool

  • About Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve):

Although the song's lyrics were written by Verve vocalist Richard Ashcroft, it has been credited to Keith Richards and Mick Jagger after charges by the original copyright owners that the song was plagiarized from the Andrew Oldham Orchestra recording of The Rolling Stones' 1965 song "The Last Time".

To get money they do anything. As they have the best lawyers, they can sue them...

  • LOVE THE TIMES AND ROCK WAS SEXY AND STIMULATING. SEX WAS FREE LOVE AND ROCK & ROLL. THE TIMES WERE SO RAW IN EDGY ROCK. BEATLES WAS NICE GUYS AND STONES WERE BAD AS HELL FUCKS. LOVED THEM. SO GLAD THE DRUGS DIDN'T KILL THEM. YET, FEITH SURE LOOKS LIKE DEATH. LAST TIME BABY ......

  • 0:43 does Keith Richards say "Oh Yeah.." instead of "Oh no.." and then try to cover it up by chewing his lip??? Brian is quality in this clip lol!

  • check out those lips on such a young Mick, at 1:40?

  • i love that the first line is a paradox

  • 240p?, no this is RSp YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • @MXInmortal Resolution HD: Horrible Definition ! haha

  • Agreed Drag - Brian WAS the Stones - he was the creator! Keith has always just played licks

  • Keith Richards' middle finger is worth millions of dollars.

  • @MacDragard If your talking about the main guitar, its Brian, keith got credit and he played like 4 chords.

  • bittersweet symphony :)

  • !!! Charlie smiles at 1:43 !!! Wow ^^

  • I'm feeling like a star you cant stop my shine?

  • @ChristmasCreature if you listen to the Stones " you are a star "

  • if you came here for the verve then search for "Andrew Oldham Orchestra - The Last Time".

  • @989Saher Thank you.

  • @989Saher

OR you could view this video in youtube/html5 format, change the video speed to 1/2 and the similarities between the bittersweet symphony's opening and this song becomes more obvious.

  • wow, brian IS the definition of cool! first real rockstar and without doubt the best! rip

  • I was the doctor who delivered Mick Jagger. Am I cool yet?

  • @JaysGOP would make you at least 89 odd?

  • @crankfrank76 Jesus you're stupid.

  • @JaysGOP the dotcor who delivered mick jagger is probably already dead

  • @jim1992jacobs No, I'm the doctor who delivered Mick Jagger.

  • @JaysGOP ......SURE YOU ARE COOL ....YOU'RE 6 FEET UNDER 50 YERAS AGO. RIP

  • @GOLDENFLYWARRIOR Does your down syndrome prevent you from detecting sarcasm?

  • @JaysGOP ha really? it's more than cool!!!

  • @JaysGOP thanks man:)

  • @JaysGOP You must be about 90 years old... I appreciate that.

  • @JaysGOP even his mother wasnt brave enough to breast feed him

  • @JaysGOP god...how old are you cuz heslike 80 or 75

  • @LawsonMovies Its really astonishing how you people don't understand sarcasm.

  • Pretty cool in that this is live. Syncing was so common on television back then.

  • loved the stones when they were young, raw, and rockin. before mick jagger decided prancing around in tights was cool.

  • Awesome song! Still, I don't see how this is similar to Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. Sure there are some of the same chords but there are plenty of songs that use those chords as well.

  • Rolling Stones - The Last Time <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Bitter Sweet Symphony

ROLLING STONES LAWYERS ARE IN MY FUCKING ASS

  • @grez14 Well, the Verve used a sample of the instrumental version by "the andrew loog oldham orchestra"

(Oldham was the Stones manager at that time) and if you hear this version, then you will understand the laywers - the sample dominates the song fron start to finish

  • to Ed

  • Exactly what part of the song sounds the slightest bit like bittersweet symphony

  • @pjf585

I can hear it, though the lyrics and mood are radically different to the point where its own mood is further radically different as a result.

Listen at the beginning and when jagger sings "I told you once and I told you twice". It's there. Whether it's enough to give anyone but The Verve the rights is another matter.

Part of this is the general problem with all modern IP law. While Jagger, etal., probably deserve something, it's not likely to be even close to "everything".

  • great song

  • This sounds nothing like Bitter Sweet Symphony. Damn you Rolling Stone's lawyers!
