This was also my first computer. I remember we had one of those 5-gallon water bottles where our family used to put their loose change for years. I was told that if my brother and I would count it and wrap it we could use it towards the purchase of the Apple IIGS we had seen in a kiosk presentation in the mall. There was around $670 in it! This was back in 1986. I had it for years. I soooo wish I still had it.
The Apple IIGS holds a very special place in my heart.
The IIgs had some cool games for it too. I liked 'Gauntlet' and EPYX 'World Games'. WorldGames had a bull-riding game, and the bulls had names like 'Ferdinand' and 'El Toro'. The same software also had cliff diving and sumo wrestling.
The IIgs was a unique machine for its time, because it not only was a Apple ][e compatible but also a Macintosh hybrid. It was release in 1986 it was the first (before the se & II) to use the ADB ports, appletalk network booting an a colour display. It was the solution for that time !
OMG, the first computer I ever used. The Apple IIgs is what I used at a volunteer job, creating flyers for a non-profit organization back in 1988. The IIgs is the computer that I learned on and it started my computer hobby.
