This is how i see it :

The guy is an asshole, he knows his girlfriend will be angry if he doesn't do anything at the date.

Then he sees in future his girl die so he decides to enjoy his last day with her since he knows she will die (he doesnt tell her ofc !), he prepare all, he kiss her, he embrace her. He discover she is kind and he can do what he wants, so he want to conclude, he follow the girl like a dog and got hit by the car.
