@pelpois it may reduce the life, but think of how many more games you can play with just that one disc till it dies. Say you use one disc for 50 games.Lets say the average PS2 game runs $10 now. Instead of paying 51*10 for the games, you're paying (1*10)+(50*blank_DVD_price). then you pay $10 for another few hundred games of enjoyment.

Guys, this isn't for piracy, id doesn't work for games you burned from ISOs. It only works if you insert the same game. This is so you can boot modified versions of games (like custom Guitar Hero songs) or so you can get several copies of one game running on multiple consoles. I used it so I could do a 16 player LAN of Timesplitters 2 with one disc and several copies.

no, only the same game will work. Like swapping an original GH2 game for a hacked version. Or you can use a ps1 game to play homebrew such as SNES station or a burned ps1 game

Your not really "BACKING UP" anything and i put a lot of emphasis on the phrase BACKING UP because you dont back any thing up considering you have to have the source disk that you paid for before you can use the burned disk so really think about that before the next time your bout to seriously FUCK UP YOUR CONSOLE

Haha, i see what you mean. This is not just something stupid like backups, whats the point of that! EX: I have guitar hero, i put it into the computer using a speacial program i can read all files on disc. Then i edit or put a different sone witht he nots on the disc. I reburn to a new dic. Then i do disc swap with the original disc, and now you can play edited sone....ect.... DO you see now?

haha hes got it but he left out the most important details. first you have to mod your ps2 so that when you open it, it thinks its still closed (see the little piece of toilet paper in the disk tray?) and then you have to make an exact copy using dvd decrypt or alcohol 120%. what i did was replace one of the key files in my agent under fire game with a custom file so now i can just run backup games without the original.

I really think this is a waste of time. Why would you go through the trouble of downloading a game if you have to have the original game its self??? Its easier to buy swap magic and magic key or slide card (depending on which system you have) . Not only will you not need the original game but you can save alot of money and time just by downloading any PS2 game you want.

actualy you just need any disk to place in, then you remove any disk then put in burnt disk. The only problem is ps2 will only start with a ps2 disk in it, So as long as you put in any ps2 disk, then swap, you are good.

The way I see it, you'd only make backups of games you already owned if you wanted to protect the originals from damage. But surely, slapping the original against the laser lens and the inside of the tray whilst it's spinning is going to cause more damage to the disk than simply leaving it in the tray and not bothering to swap it for a backup? Just a thought.

As a follow up, you're a lot more careful when removing the original than a lot of people I've seen do it on here. So what happens if you start off by booting with the original, for example Guitar Hero, then swap it for a backup of a different title? Does that work or is the PS2 cleverer than that?
