  • I like this vrsion, but it doesnt sound round without the crackliness of the original

  • baba booey

  • @RTRYTEK TA TA TOOTHY

  • This version definitely has more soul.

  • Stern today!

  • This is better than the original, the Beatles should have sounded like this. My Bumpers is in very good condition except I ruined it by putting my signature on it! There was a follow up album to it another double sampler. can't think of the name of it though. happy Christmas to all Bumpers fans.

  • Which version is better? The Beatles'? Spooky Tooth's? I like Spooky Tooth's very much, but it took John Lennon to write such an interesting song.

  • I forgot how good this is! Have it on Bumpers which I bought in '70.

  • @BA97000 same as, I also have the album The Last Puff

  • @BA97000

I thought I had the only Bumpers album left which has been adulterated by passing it around.

    It's a great album.

Spooky Tooth do this song justice!

  • i remember this from "Bumpers" - the Island label sampler from 19xx. The best on the sampler by far (ie. it's the only one i remember).

  • WELLLLL LIKE 5 HOURS LATER WHEN YOU GET TUNED UP .

  • Killer Beatles cover and a hugely underrated album.

  • @Wattsomatic John Lennon said that it was the best cover he had ever heard. Even suggested it might have even been better than when they (The Beatles) first recorded it.

  • Remember staring at the cover of this great album, black lights and a bong - Heavy stuff. this one and Wrong TIme - love that early raw shred guitar - A few tokes and you were THERE.

  • Singer sounds amazingly like Eddie Vedder.

  • Fuckin heavy!!!

  • Help! and We can Work it Out was made for Deep Purple

With a little from my Friend was made for Joe Cocker

I am the Walrus was made for Spooky Tooth

  • @HumbertoGillanLennon Beto, you have that right!

  • So fuckin raw! i was lookin for this song all over. now i can finally waste away in its magnificence.

  • The visual ie ugly, but,Spooky did this better than the Beattles ever dreamed .

  • @garebear1015 Yes, Yes. This song sounds so great on LSD. After all this time, it still sounds so great. Thank you, Spooky. You're right. They do it better than the Beatles. He really sings the song. Yes, Yes. Lamar (65)

  • I was there when they did that. Wish you could have been there.

    LSD.

  • I was there when they did that. Wish you could have been there.

  • Time is no object to this music.............it stands the test.

  • It will last for a thousend years.

  • This has got to be the best cover ever.

  • Luther Grosvener was one of my favourite guitarists from back then, but then he dissappeared and I think changed his name to Ariel Bender and played for Mott The Hoople. I think he could have been amazing if he's stayed on the "heavy" side of things.

  • This song IS good. Even better is "better by you, better than me"

  • @puddelisa

"better by you, better than me"は「Spooky Two 」のB面3曲目ですね。

It is "Spooky Two " Side B #3.

I have the LP record :-)

  • I love the Beatles, they made made this tune for Spooky Tooth.

  • spooky tooth take a great tune to another level......follow that kids

  • 4:36 is the most magical part

  • i really do not remember this version, but i guess from back in the day i am lucky to remember anything! i am looking out of window pane!

  • Probably the best cover ever made. Soulful.

  • Heavy influence on the Boris/Merzbow cover, entitled 'Walrus'

    but...damn, this is good too.

  • Cover version or no - this is the best version - got to be.

  • John Lennon had said that this was his favorite version.

  • love this cut better that the beatles

  • Just an awesome cover, my favorite. This whole album is fantastic

  • Groovy...

  • the Beatles will always have a monopoly on this tune, but man, this rocks in a special kind of way. sparse & hypnotik.

  • this is the nicest verssion of the song ever.

  • Seven minutes minus seven seconds. No doubt, this is the heaviest version of this song you're likely to hear. Captured John Lennon's respect!

  • Seven minutes minus seven seconds. No doubt, this is the heaviest version of this song you're likely to hear. Captured John Lennon's respect!

  • this is the way it sounded then.....there was no immediate tomorrow....

  • Spooky Tooth was one of my favorite groups of the late 60s. That said, please realize that it is much easier to creatively cover someone else's song than it is to originate the concept in the first place. This is a classic composition and to me, the original studio version is pure magic.

  • CRANK DAT SPOOKEH TOOF

  • I remember the day I bought this album........I heard this song and had to have this album before I smoked another one

  • transported back to my crazy youth...thanks

  • I heard them last time in 1975 and Tooth continue to be better and better.

  • this is so straight

  • Better than the original.

  • I like both versions equally. The story remains the same and the wisdom is in the lyrics.

What you do to others you do to your self. The different styles of presentation are superficial. To do the song credit you have to know what it is about. Beatles knew what they were about and so did Spooky Tooth.

Love this version and the original.

  • EXCELLENT version by the Tooth !

  • This version of "Walrus" will always be the best. Mike Harrison (featured) did a really good version of ' Smokestack Lightning" If you have not heard it-check it out. Then check out the 13 minute version by the old 1960's U.S. band by the same name - Smokestack Lightnin" - Enough said.

  • @fenlandfolly is it mike harrison solo or is he with Spooky Tooth?

  • To kuritizzyflush - Hey man isn't it ?? Yeah. , MC5 were pretty good - a bit like Pink Fairies who they kicked about with in U.K. Think Grand Funk Railroad and then you will be talking.

  • To shaung ?? Hi Kid, Silly post, what about?? Are you felling silly?

  • One of my late brother's favorites. R.I.P. Geoff!!!

  • The best "I am the walrus " after the Lennon/mc cartney one....

  • Excellent version Just remember John Lennon wrote it! not really heard a bad version of the song just one of those excellent Beatle songs that's timeless.

    Gibby pubjamsessions com

  • spooky tooth`s version of "I am the walrus" tears the beatles version to shreds...it perfectly epitomizes the dread contained in the lyrics.

spooky tooth did for "I am the walrus" what joe cocker did for "with a little from my friends" (the woodstock version): they took the song and made it their own.

    this is a classic.

  • @shotdonkey Yeah those Beatle dudes couldn't write lyrics or melodies or sing or play instruments. No influence on music whatsoever. DA

  • @kurtizzyflush

that`s not what I said, not at all. however, spooky tooth turned "I am the walrus" completely on its head; which is no mean feat! have you ever tried rearranging a well-known tune? well, then you`d know.

as for joe cocker`s version of "with a little help from my friends", he singlehandidly builds an aural sculpture out of something that starts out as basically nothing more than a naff little tune!

    I rest my case herewith.

  • @shotdonkey Oh goody! Another never has been never will be blowhard "musician" with a straw man argument. Youtube should change it's name to "respond with nonsequiturs tube".

  • Man!!! I bought this album when it came out. I'll never get tired of listening to it.

    Awesome band.

  • Who the f--k wants to know the Beatles version? This is the real one - enjoy.

Spooky were one of the great bands in early 70's U.K.

  • @fenlandfolly You probably think the Louvre is a bathroom in Paris.

  • @fenlandfolly What a silly post

  • @fenlandfolly This is a cover of the Beatles original. Both are good.
