  • Makes me feel eternal. all this pain is an illusion.

  • it's odd the that the golden ratio also describes the helical arc and curvature of the DNA strand.....to....

  • Good video work man. the end with the clouds, is the gates. Good work

  • just perfect.

  • I am too high.

  • At 2:00 going on to 2:01 , what kind of (if it is) an effect that makes it sound like something that you would hear in a demonotic temple? I know its already in tool, just what would it be?

  • @Xanedon122798

Probably some kind of wood aerophone, most likely a didgeridoo or "didge", a woodwind Aborigine instrument.

  • Comment removed

  • @Xanedon122798 seems to be buddhist monk throat singing.

  • I love this song. It is so soothing in a way that I feel calmed and at peace. Like a childs first lullaby.

  • @athena437 yes you are right

  • i might be the only person who enjoys this song a little more than parabola

  • @hollynychole i enjoy it a lot more but i still like parabola its kinda loud tho this song i literly fall asleep to every night.

  • @hollynychole No my friend... I like Parabol a lot more than parabola

  • @hollynychole im there with ya mate, this tune just soothes my mind. Makes me feel eternal and all this pain is an illusion

  • @hollynychole

    Nope your not.

  • @hollynychole well your not because i like parabol more than parabola too but they go perfectly well together dont they?

  • great band.... both shows were poor.... at the very bottom of my list of great live shows.... maybe they should stay south of the boarder if they don't care to put on a good show ... and not take away fans cameras... every concert has the same thing... no pictures... but they went to far

  • @Gesus1337 what are you talking about? what happened?

  • then again when they came to saskatoon.. and the front doors of the area had buckets of cameras the security took from all the fucking fans.. and the loser himself complaining about pictures being taken... no chairs on the floor.. just nazi security walking around kicking people out for taking pictures... my ex got kicked out on the last song.. and like a fool i followed her out... and miss lateralus .... epic song...

  • danny fixing his drums when they were in edmonton.... a few years back... maynard filling the gap.. with some silly talk... "how do you get a dog to stop humping your leg? ........ pick it up and suck its dick"... that great joke still didn't mkake up for chairs on the floor like a fucking neil diamond concert.... i have the third eye tattoo'd on my side... and some wrinkled face monsters from a tool shirt with needles in there mouth on my back....

  • @Gesus1337 I would have liked to see that show regardless, stupid that I missed it while they were here. Same with SOAD recently. Damn!

I bet the problem with the Saskatoon concert you mentioned was probably more the venue policy than the band's, they are often shitty about that stuff. Same with the security.

  • Fuck drugs just listen to tool :) and get high on music <3 tool rights such beautiful music

s those of you that disagree go listen t the bieber kid

  • “I think psychedelics play a major part in what we do, but having said that, I feel that if somebody's going to experiment with those things they really need to educate themselves about them. People just taking the chemicals and diving in without having any kind of preparation about what they're about to experience tend to have no frame of reference, so they're missing everything flying by and all these new perspectives. It's just a waste. They reach a little bit of spiritual enlightenment, but

  • they end up going, 'Well, now I need that drug to get back there again.' The trick is to use the drugs once to get there, and maybe spend the next ten years trying to get back there without the drug.”

    -Maynard James Keenan

  • @BigBoomSkaters So I think you're missing the point entirely.

  • @IceburgFanell ive seen that wuote so many times alright yeah im gonna admit i have done a coupe drugs but it aint worth it if you dont know what your getting yourself into like Mr. maynard himself said

  • @BigBoomSkaters That is true, and fair enough, I just wanted to say something (well, copy and paste what Maynard said, lol) because left alone generalizations like that are self-defeating and only foster ignorance and close mindedness. Although I do agree that drugs in the wrong hands can be a very powerful (self-)destructive force, (I believe) we cannot deny the incredible experiences and insight they can provide when used properly.

  • This song is so beautiful :)

  • My brain is imploding every time I listen to it, there's nothing up there now

  • this is the Best Opening to parabola i have ever heard. i love this band.

  • @buckeyes2387 its the only opening to parabola.

  • I never really pay attention to the videos uploaded here, I usually just grab a link of a song I like to show to a friend in an IM or on a message board, etc. Regardless, I'm very impressed with the visualization you applied to this song.

Thanks for making stop and appreciate the look you put effort into accompanying one of my favorite songs. You did a great job with this.

  • lol noclimax fucking boring

  • @EchtePoekel lol

  • love Tool's slower stuff. its calming!!!!!

  • @killemo213 tool is my tool when I embrace myself with lsd. sorry had to be said.

  • @thatskateshow well, as a pilot in training, i dont do drugs. and as myself, i look down on druggies. i love TooL for what they create with their instruments. magic. not some sound that allow druggies to have a good time.

  • @killemo213 ok

  • @killemo213 faggot

  • @yovioleatuzorramadre Really? Using homosexuality as an insult is so childish. Grow up.

  • @SkullcandySteve1 Is Healthy, tool fans know it.

  • @killemo213 you dont get tool for shit

  • Not hearing Parabola after Parabol is like a coitus interruptus.

  • @DieHardGardenFan yeah! Coitus Interruptus SUCKS! Especially if engaged in aural coitus with Maynard!

  • @DieHardGardenFan Lmao, did you get that from The Big Bang Theory? xD If not, never mind. If so, I love that show. Lmao.

  • @DieHardGardenFan toooooootaly agreed =)

  • If you liked the images in this video, FUCKING SMOKE DMT

  • So familiar and overwhelmingly warm

This one, this form I hold now.

    Embracing you, this reality here,

This one, this form I hold now, so

    Wide eyed and hopeful.

    Wide eyed and hopefully wild.

We barely remember what came before this precious moment,

Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside...

This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone in

This body makes me feel eternal. All this pain is an illusion.

  • This song is awesome. Shows how tool can be both angry/industrial AND soft/soothing :)

  • Why am i thinking India?..........

  • badass

  • my weeding song =)

  • @diablo234 I lol'd

  • I don't understand these 3 people who gave this song "-"!

  • @Agugasek I can. They suddenly had a spasm, flailed around randomly and accidentally hit the dislike button. Tool can do that. Their music is the #1 cause of random spasms in my life. :3

  • @Rabidbadger011 Then they had to have the speakers turned off...

  • this song is overpowered with just about every emotion that you can think of.

  • way too low on the volume.

  • Why dont you just put a eye in a pyrimid and shout illuminati?

  • MJK voice is sweet.

  • you guys should hear the Lustmord remix of this... it adds a whole other layer of intensity and profundity. Tool is sacred.

  • The artwork? Simply wonderful.

  • watch it with shine on your crazy diamond

  • i wanna meditate to this

  • My favorite song :D

  • i cannot think of a better intro to a song besides this...

  • ill never forget the first time i tripped to lateralus.

  • If you have this song syched with itself starting the second track at 1:23, it's perfect

  • ▼

  • That's kind of cool, if you play both parabol and parabola together they kind of synch

  • thank you for taking the time to make this video, i think is great!!!

  • Seriously, whoever made this video is awesome.

  • the fibonacci sequence goes 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13. put those track numbers 1st (or second).

  • yeah init whats fibonacci were not all italian?

  • That's the name of the man who studied mathematics and nature, and came up with the sequence {1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ...}. The golden ratio, or φ (phi) is the limit of F(n/F(n-1)) as n approaches infinity, where F is the Fibonacci sequence and n is any integer.

  • @jspade1019 He didn't discover the Fibonacci actually.

  • if you notice in the parabol/a video, mantra comes first. there's an alternate track listing for lateralus. take the fibonacci numbers and put them either before or after the non-fibonacci numbers. side one: 1 the grudge 2 eon blue 3 the patient 5 schism 8 ticks and leeches 13 faaip side two.. 4 mantra 6,7 parabol/parabola 9 lateralus 10,11,12 d/r/t. it's too perfect to be an accident.
  • perfectly what? do the numbers mean something?

  • fibonacci?

  • @hornsofarabbit

But Mantra was in Schism's music video.

  • they did. it's called intension.

  • Very good song for meditations . Take care and peace .~Cathy~.

  • Mmmmm.

My brain is fried. No, it's baked. Baked nicely until golden brown.

  • great job on the video man

  • this is the song i want played at my funeral.

  • this album/tune never ages. It was written timelessly - and will always be an experience that feels like the first time.

-perhaps the first time of every experience

    :)

  • my wedding song :)

  • Shit!! Really?

    Coolest wedding song ever.

  • @ArtemisDomain fuck yeahhh saw that and was just like.. go you tool is my shit!

  • @ArtemisDomain

..because after the wedding, the pain is no more an illusion -.-

  • I have like 5000 plays of this song on winamp play count. Just can't get enough of it. I can listen to it for hours on repeat...

  • HOLY SHIT DUDE thats a lot

  • Holy shit dude you're like obsessed and stuff.

  • Excellent. 5 Stars.

  • parabol is like a interlude in the album that is like parabola but not as heavy

  • yeah it is just the intro to it... i love it... honestly i cant listen to parabola without parabol before it

  • wall actually if you watch the parabola music video you hear parabol first but yeah i agree with you SOAD256, it is sorta like a interlude.

  • Obvious statement but yeah, TOOL does that a lot. Even in live shows they play soft intermissions into their next song. Some are meant to be there like this song and others just soft rhythms.

    It's a TOOL thing I guess.

  • I dont get it, whats the difference between Parabol and Parabola?

  • parabol is like the beginning of parabola

  • tool rapes

  • haha true! they take any bullshit wrapped around your eyes and mind and fuck it up!

  • What an amazing song. Tool is without a doubt a band like no other. Their music and videos are like..no they ARE masterpieces...it will be a while until another band like them comes around.

  • this is the kundalini lifeforce

  • i likey much better than the original video!

  • tool isnt just music, those guys ROCK by any standards. the music is so complex i doubt if any other bands could replicate them. lyrically forget about it, i enjoy having to think about what they say. Deep, they are and if you cant understand what they say or even recognize that fact you probablly like little wayne's simple ass instead of andre3000. its very simple, leader vs follower!! some people have no choice but to follow while others see the big picture and can lead themselves.

  • you said it

  • DAMN RIGHT!!!!!!!

  • im happy that there is a band that does music like this. Seems like there should be more tool type bands, whatever the type is.

  • Listen to Aghora : )

  • Keep talking,it just keeps showing us how very simple and stupid you are.

  • Can you swim?

  • i dont think he can =P

  • i love this song.. is really awesome. <3

  • eh?

  • does anybody understand my comment? i said tool is creative and good. not directly, but i alluded to those facts.

  • This is so gucking good! Give me lsd

  • Just because you do not understand the complexities - I suppose all the more reason for Youtube to have an IQ test before being able to comment videos. It would honestly weed out people of the category you lay in.

  • understand the complexities...

you tool fans over analyze everything, do you?

  • Tool is the only band presently making music as an art form, between their lyrically driven songs backed with mesmerizing instrumentals and the videos conclude the full package. Sure some bands have one of the three but you'd be hard pressed to find a band that focuses and succeeds on each of the categories.

It isn't about over analyzing, you either get it, or you do not and you obvious do not but that is ok - differences make the world go around or something like that.

  • Overanalyze? Even if that's true, it's still much better than under analyzing and therefore being completely uneducated and unaware. Just because you can't understand the potential deep beauty to be felt in a song doesn't mean the rest of us don't. I highly doubt your ability to connect to anything based on your comment. You must be one of those simple minded people who are content to be amused by substanceless garbage. So shut up and go watch some prime time tv and let us enjoy ourselves.

  • You just don't get it...do you? I hardly see how you can equate a lyric site with schooling. It just sounds so fucking stupid. I went to school thank you. All the more reason I see the value in song and the concepts. Tell me something, if you don't see any deep meaning in any of Tool's songs, then what songs DO you find meaning in? There are many more that beautiful and deep, but I'd be curious to know what your take on what moving and spiritual music is. Go on, dazzle us.

  • too literal too undersatnd the depths...huh...open your "other" mind man

  • Transcend beyond this reality and find that all is just a dream, and we are nothing more than the imagination of ourselves.

  • from creation to death...

    wonderful

  • Fooly & cooly...

  • Tool is the greatest band ever!

  • this song is so amazing when you're high, aweosme while sober as well.

  • the first time i listened to sober i was high!

jk. my fav. tool song is eulogy. great...

  • Thats a fucking great video...thank you man

  • hermoso!!!!!!!!!!!

  • May be the best song ever! "so familiar and overwhelmingly warm" Parabol is heaven sent.Tool and Deftones rule the earth!...TY MJK and Chino, you give me spirit and focus.

  • skoakes

Don't you know it? It is so true. Amazingly sung by TOOL! He puts truth in his music for us to find it he opens our chakras with his music and art...TOOL is healing music.

  • the sexiest song ever

  • beautiful video...

  • total harmony

  • there is nothin in my mind that can explain, its like im zoned to complete steadyness but nothin there i like this feelin,

  • What this guy is trying to say, is that it feels like focusing your eyes, and seeing nothing. Like looking into infinity, and seeing nothing all at once. Zero and infinity existing with one another. (yeah. i'm shroomin hard)

  • makes sense... tough to do while sober

    familiar AND overwhelming ;D

Great job... keep spiraling, my friend!

  • smooooooooooooooth

  • what there albums are all insane

  • Tool may only have 4 albums but there ALL worth it imo Aenima was a little eh tho i still liked it tho.

  • 4 albums? I thought they had 5...

    Opiate

    Undertow

    Aenima

    Lateralus

    10K days

  • Excellent, but please don't forget Salival! It has one of the best songs to laugh and sing with:

"Would you like to glide on and slide a mile six inches at a time on Maynard's Dick?"

  • Plus, the live version of PuShit on Salival is like a religious experience. It made me cry the first time I listened to it.

  • yea the live version is powerful like that, my favorite song of all has to be Third Eye [Live] with the intro by timothy leary, its just too savage

  • Yeah I was thinking about mentioning salival too, but seeing as they hadnt even heard of opiate I decided it was a lost cause.

  • What?I think Aenima is their best album.

  • fantastic job. did you use the cd slip to make that? however you did it it was fitting for the song, cosmic awareness... spiritual awakening, life death and the universe. best album of all time!

To all you non Tool people, i highly recommend this album "Lateralus". It is truly a spiritual experience.

  • I love parabola but is this like another version of the song?

    Or a differant one...

Its got the same lyrics tho... =S

  • on the lateralus cd, this is the intro into Parabola. "Parabol/Parabola"

  • Thanks alot ^^

But since ive made that comment i have actually bought the album and Aemina :P

  • I love tool but what is this song?

I downloaded parabola and it apears to be a heavier version than this... Can someone tell me the name of this track?

  • Yea, support the band by buying the records. I can assure you it's worth the money.

  • This is a two part song.

    1. Parabol

    2. Parabola

    Secondly, go buy their Albums.

    1993: Undertow

    1996: Aenima

    2001: Lateralus

    2006: 10,000 Days

I agree with rounder, these guys are living legends, and somehow, with every new album, they are better than the previous. If you like tool, maynard also signs for A Perfect Circle, some good tunes by them as well.

  • Done ^^

  • Love this video and alex grey's work. I had a trip one time almost exactly like this. The whitle light that shoots from the head came a little more out of the left-center of the top of the head rather than from the exact center. Not sure if that wass subjective or not.

  • Possibly because you are naturally right-sided (brain wise) and your pineal was simply illustrating the point in a way your altered consciousness could relate to more easily. Nice vision, few people get that style or epiphany.

  • wow. how can one tell if they are left or right 'brained'? I WANNA KNOW

  • The best way I know is to ask yourself do you prefer literal or abstract forms of expression. I.E.: reading a book vs. watching a film. Literal people (like myself) prefer reading a book whereas "right brained" people prefer abstract expressions where their mind fills in the blanks. I'm also very introverted ergo my propensity for independent communication versus open forums.

  • ^ O_o what?! i could really only decipher a small amount of the last bit of your post. -_-

  • i think our minds fill in more gaps when reading..

  • very fantastic, i love tool, and i love all of alex greys work, ill hav to agree with the other comments tho, you should make a parabola

  • That was awesome. You should definitely consider adding parabola to that.

  • anyone else notice that this song sucks without parabola, and parabola sucks without this song. I have to listen to one right after the other

  • with a name like 'subwoofer87' you probably have trouble even understanding what the song is about, this song is a song unto itself, and to say it sucks says a lot about your intelligence.

Smoke some DMT and then tell us all it sucks. I bet you couldnt.

  • i have to agree that if one or the other never existed, its counterpart could also not exist. However, I have no problem listening to this version all by itself. The lighter and deeper intro version is rly what makes the better part of the entire set.

  • beautiful. this makes me cry

  • that was a fuckin trip

  • is this off the parabola dvd?
