He died for "no crime at all"? Yes, he did. By his own choice. What does any of this have to do with him being a LDS, it just makes him an idiot. They didn't make him give up his religion; he committed suicide. If it is by the book you go by, or by the Bible I read, he is doomed to hell either way. He wanted death, and you believe as well, suicide is unseperable from punishment. He is in what you call "spirit prison." And if my book is right he is in what you call "outer darkness." That is all.
@EpicPranks01 Really? You're going to make that argument? He stood up for what he believed in, which unless you're a neo-nazi, is probably the same thing that you believe in: that what was happening in Germany was wrong.
If you really believe that any God (Christian or otherwise) is going to condemn to hell a 17 year old kid for having the guts to stand up for what is right, you need to seriously reevaluate your belief system, because I know of no God that would do that.

I read the book its very good its called the boy who dared very sad I loved and respect Helmuth Hübener very much and I'm sorry for every thing that happened to him and his family
Helmuth Hubener was a hero; and today I know he would only say he was doing what was right, and remain humble, but... His story yes was one of hundreds, but it is amazing to recognize what he did. He acted alone, then Rudi and Karl joined. The church was lead by a Hitler follower.
And isn't it wonderful. A better Germany, yes, our country has been redeemed. But I hate the predigest coming with being German. Being called a Nazi by non-Germans... Well.. I'm sure some of us know the feeling.
@Cate5651 Obama was thrown into a situation that made him look bad. While George Bush was in office our debt increased by almost 8 Trillion dollars alone. Obama's was about 3 Trillion. Most President's were around 2 Trillion. And Obama is dealing with an extremely tough situation, and is also being held back by Congress-- which is currently being controlled by the Republicans. Mostly because of the tea party ordeal. Damn Republicans.... Compassion is what democrats have.
A biography about Helmuth Huebner shouldn't portray what we wish he believed, but what he actually believed. To say he was influenced solely through his involvement with the Church of Jesus Christ is likely an overstatement-especially when we consider that he stood alone in his actions. However, the language of the letter in this video indicates that Huebner was involved in the LDS community and that it influenced his thinking. To try to indicate otherwise would be untruthful.
@sperckensiedoitch By your words alone, you have convicted yourself as not having even seen this documentary. Yes, he was LDS, and Yes his being LDS didn't solely influence his belief that the Nazi party was bad. That is common sence. He was LDS though, and his belief if the church still stands. These are facts.
No worries, man:)! I've seen it, and enjoy it. I also think that the history portrayed is accurate, and that, being a movie produced by members of the church, it need not apologize for it's particular portrayal of the story (specif. through a lens of latter-day saint faith). I was just trying moderate between some of the viewpoints posted here, that's all.
@sperckensiedoitch ok. I see your understanding and respect it. The film however, has very little to do with the LDS faith. The young man in it just happens to be LDS and just happens to have had a lot of courage. That is all. Nothing more. It's just a story of one of the members of our church in that time period.
As a German and former Mormon, I wrote an article about Mormons in Nazi Germany. I found out that Helmut and two other Mormons were the only Mormons in Hamburg who fight against the Nazi party. His branch president was a Nazi, and cast out jewish members. Two days after Helmut was arrested, this guy excommunicated him. And another guy from his branch in Hamburg would kill him for what he had done (telling the truth to German people). Ask me for more information about it.
What fucking diff does it make if he or his pedophile predecessor estalished the danites, Old Bringem Young controled them did he not? There is not a more murderouse, theiving, controling cult on the face of the earth than mormons. Bringing up mute points to try and discredit the truth. Only makes you look like what you are, a brainwashed fool!
@MrWant2watch Nope I am the opposite. I know what I believe and why. Somebody tells me something and I study it out for myself. You base your chip on the shoulder attitude on here say, rumor, and speculation. Brigham didn't order any murders, and Brigham did not control any Danites. Other Christian sects bash us for some of our beliefs but don't realize they believe in the same things we do and the practices of Old Testament Prophets. I have a list of tons of other LDS biographies if you like :)
I think it is unfortunate that a multi billion$ corporation is so desperate to sugar coat there past. That they will use publicity from one brave kid, that I guess happened to be LDS.
What about the innocent people that was murdered by Brighams danites, Did you ever here the story of Tom Lewis the 24 year old mormon that was held down and casterated because he wouldn't relinquish his fiance' to bishop Warren Snow. The Mormons are just as bad as the nazis ever thaught of being!
@MrWant2watch Hmm, Brigham young did not establish the Danites. Wow, you are misinformed. The actions of some members over 130 years ago were theirs alone and were not condoned by the LDS church. You obviously are very uneducated in theses subjects and make yourself look like an idiot. This film is only one of hundreds of true stories. We have the right to make films about our history. This young man was a righteous kid. You don't even know what you are talking about. do your homework buddy.
I am fortunate enough to have a copy of the DVD. I would say to anyone who sees this: buy it. The incredibly courageous story of Helmuth Hubener (who paid with his life aged only 17), Rudi Wobbe and Karl-Heinz Schnibbe deserves to be known far more widely than it is. The DVD is available online from LDS bookstores. Sadly, the last survivor of the three boys, Karl-Heinz Schnibbe, died only a couple of weeks ago aged 86. May their memory live forever.
I'd been wondering about whether or not to purchase the DVD, and now I definitely WILL be doing so, and researching further into the story of Helmuth Hubener.
@alma43454647 ....What do you mean done in the US.... (No I'm not asking you, I know.)
We aren't in a holocaust.
Or facing a mass murderer as our leader.
Or have people being executed for their standing up against the government.
We have Obama, who was made to look bad in a situation Bush caused. And has had to deal with ever since he came into office. Trust me, our national debt isn't a holocaust. It's a screwy old Bush damnation.

Regardless of his church affiliation, this buy was a total hero. He stared the face of death and he overcame it!
