I haven't been able to find the clip yet, but the violence concluded at the Spencer house with Laura putting baby Lulu in her infant carrier and setting her in the closet with Foster guarding her. She went downstairs with the shotgun. One of the bad guys was about to do away with Luke when Laura blasted him. She saved Luke's life as she always would but resented him immensely for bringing violence into their home again. She kicked the blood stained rug and Luke to the curb.
This was in 1995. Luke and Sonny were in the midst of a mob war when Sonny killed another mob chief. This clip is that guy's goons taking their revenge. What's more, 3 major stories converged or kicked off at this point: Stone and Robin (Sonny's assistant and his girlfriend) turned out to be HIV+ (he later died), Brenda (Sonny's girlfriend) left him because he refused to be honest with her about his life, and Laura kicked Luke out, also unable to deal with the violence.

They shot Brenda in the shower? How bad was the damage? Did anyone die?

Only the bad guys died. Brenda hit the floor a split second before the guy started shooting. She got cut from the broken glass, but that was it.
