None of this is actually irony. It's just plain bad luck/unfortunate. E.g A traffic jam when you're already late. That;s just bad luck, not irony. the type of irony you are attempting to describe is situational irony, not dramatic irony. dramatic irony is when a character in a drama does not possess the knowledge that other characters and/or audience does. still, it is not either. the only irony in the song is the verbal irony when the guy in the plane crash says, "Well isn't this nice?" because he is saying the opposite of what he thinks. Actually I think ironic is a fitting word. I always thought (/speculated) that she was thinking about these events whilst having something else in mind that she hasnt told us listeners, probably something to do with life has a funny way of helping you out when you think everythings gone wrong. And this extra unknown thing makes them ironic. we just dont know what it is! Like some crazy, almost divine, reversed dramatic irony!!! Does that make any sense? :) Probably just me. Love the song!

Irony is NOT something that shouldn't have happened but did. Irony is when something CONTRADICTS THE PURPOSE, such as, a gun safety instructor shoots himself in the foot because the safety wasn't on. This is ironic because the thing that was supposed to keep him safe did the exact opposite. The safety didn't keep him very safe no did it?
