These musicians have been TRICKED once again by the record industry. If the recordings are not available, they get no royalties. Less than 5% of recordings over 50 years old are in print from the original label. Once the record goes into the public domain the ARTIST THEMSELVES can put the record out and make ALL THE MONEY. Stan Kenton bought his deleted masters from Capitol and released them on his label and made ALL the money. He was lucky, most labels won't sell. In P.D. they're free to use.
I am a PPL member, the individuals on this video do not represent most other members.
The major record labels control the PPL & will gain the most from this extension.
Our royalties will actually get smaller because dead performers descendants will take an increased % of the PPL income. This is paid by the BBC & others, who will not pay more.
The majors will record less new music, because re-releasing the same old music is more profitable.
I save for my old age, the people on the video did not!

This is outrageous. These people make the music we love the way it is. They deserve their rights.

ITS OUTRAGEOUS THAT THE UK GOVERNMENT UNDER GORDON BROWN IS NOT BACKING THIS DIRECTIVE!
Just another case of how The Arts are treated in this country.
