I went here in june. It was SOOO much fun! And I had a cute tour giude his name was Hunter. And when he turned the lights out it was so dark! When we were on the boat ride, we seen so many fish through the glass bottom boat! It was so cool. Everyone should go there! And so many cool stories, tales and so much more. We also stayed at the hotel called Willderness In The Smokies. it was a BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went there in 1979 and was told of the cave they found in the back left hand side of the lake. More than twice the size and they said that if the water level went down they should be able to access that area. They had the rainbow trout there but as the lake is 97% pure they had to hand feed them. One of the great things I saw on a 7 month tour of the USA. 48 states... Bit differant coming from NZ.
I went to this place with my mom and my grandmother when I was a very young boy. My grandmother was a mean and ignorant woman, and she told me that The Lost Sea was the home of Satan, and that he would get me if I wasn't a good boy. I'll never forget that.
When I went there, the tour guide kept joking with me and my mom because we're from Canada. So he said, "You know what we call Americans who leave to go to Canada? Amcans," and apparently that was funny...but nobody understood what was so funny. Then he turned the lights off, so it was complete blackness, and joked, "Let's go" and many girls began to cry.
@sammelina12 thats awesome. the guides are young and from the area so kind of stupid. our guide didnt understand the irony that the trout were part of an experiment to see if they could escape. they couldnt so they went blind and sterile so they restock them every four years.
@bluehairspaz accually, because the lights in the lake, the fish do not go blind, nor are they sterile. Because there are no fast moving currents and the lake bottom is mainly silt and clay, the fish eggs float to the surface of the lake and the fish mistaken the eggs as food.
@Cavecrzy My tour guide told us the many theories of how caves are formed, which most have to do with giant floods. Haha. She also said the rock down there was Georgia clay... not limestone. I hear she didn't last long there.
i went there last summer. honest to god i saw somthing huge down there. it was crawling on the ceiling toward the back middle part of the lake. it was moving. it looked like a giant tannish lizard the length of a pool table. it had a long neck that was very flexible. i took a picture of it with a disposable camera with a flash as the boat was going back...then its neck started following my direction and it was hissing at me. the picture didnt come out tho. and i dont take any drugs
lol dued ur an idiot. i work there and all the animals in there are bats and rainbow trout tht we stock every 3 too 5 years. If u ever go back request Brandon as your tour guide
I went when I was a kid. Water was a completely different color. Must just be from where the water level is down. ANYWAY. Awesome trip. Half-way down the walk they turned the lights off. haha.
Yeah, that's it. Man it has been almost 20 years since we did the "wild tour". I saw the pit where the saber tooth tiger got trapped and died and I remember the nuclear fallout food. Bubblegum alley was fun. Ruined our clothes. I remember the sauce on the bbq sandwiches was very good. I need to go visit again.
omg cool i just got back frow there 5 minutes ago and the rainbw fish, well there used to be blind fish there but since they have lights in da lake they are now dead and they did an expirement with the rainbow fish
the fish are rainbow trout. they've been scuba diving before but i'm not sure if they've done so recently. i remember hearing once when they were diving where ever they were at started to collapse so i'm not sure. you should visit though. :]
theres a room under the lake twice as big as that one, we did have scuba divers find it but the water was too the ceiling and the bubbles off there airtanks went too the ceiling and caused rocks too fall
