  • So, seizures can happen anytime? Why does it happen? And why can't people remember them?

  • Looks like what my little sister does...

  • TOO OLD

  • @roidavidsen what is the purpose of your video?

  • stupid fuckn parents worring about every damn thing their child does

  • hi im an epileptic my self and im making a video about epilepsy, and thought to ask if i can use that clip in my video ? ofcourse i must ask you first

  • and if my sister doesn't respond to teh medicine or the injection, we call 911. Paramedics may need to use oxeygen on her.

  • my sister's warning sign of a seizure is when she moans "nooooooooo," followed by eyes twitching, holding mouth closed, and lips turning purple. Scary thing is that the only thing you can do is hold her head still, lay her on the side, and let it happen. with my sister, be prepared to clean up a big mess.

  • I hope she will be ok! Are sezisure dangerous? U would think they would be.I have a friend that has them so bad she can't drive. It's relaly sad. :(

  • ARE YOU STUPID?! my sister has seizures! your daughter is twitching IN WATER and you sit there. put the camera away dumb asss!

  • @cutiepiex4you Well there's really nothing you can do during an absence seizure. And they're usually harmless, they don't even make people fall like grand mal seizures do.

  • My twelve year old has had these seizures since he was about four. We found out he actually has two seizures for everyone we see. I hate it for him, hope your little girl grows out of it.

  • this is called petit mal, an epileptic attack.. i think its not harmful... but you must be treated with antiepileptics

  • @blaaz1988

The danger from these types of seizures is more from environment like in this video she's in the pool and could of easily lost her balance or been knocked over.

  • god bless her hope she feels better. best wishes hun also shes very pretty :)

  • Thank you for posting this. I am having such a hard time getting ppl to understand that this type of behavior is a seizure, even though I have described it in detail to them, she has been accused of "faking" because it doesn't last for very long (she just turned 3 at the beginning of the month). I have yet to catch one of hers on video so that they can see her unique seizure behaviors. I hope that your daughter is doing well and thank you again for posting.

  • she's so cute i hope all is well God bless :)

  • Ok I get this once in a while, iam talking and suddenly

everything goes blank then everything comes right back

together, actually i use to get them as a kid but my mother

did not notice them,Another thing i just look at something

and stare at it and get lost specially really bright lights.

  • as a special ed major who has febrile seizures and frontal lobe simple partial seizures I have been studying this type in a course... my question is for a teacher how can you determine if the child is having difficulty focusing due to a hearing impairment or potential ADHD etc vs. actual absence seizures due to their difficulty in determining. Any tips are appreciated.

  • My son starting having these when he was 7. Because they did not seem to impair his learning ability and weren't a danger to him physically we decided not to put him on any meds. He was having maybe a dozen of these a day same duration as your daughter. He is now 11 and hasn't had a "space out" for months. They started tapering off after his 11th birthday. I hope your daughter has the same result as she gets older. Best of luck to you.

  • I get these. Constantly. I twist/pull my own hair and click my tongue, though sometimes I just fully blank out. Mine seem to last a little longer than this though, upward of 2-3 minutes on a bad day.

Glad to see that you are at least able to control them. Hopefully you can get rid of them entirely.

  • thas crazy

  • I had these when I was a bit older than your daughter . Dont feel like she abnormal or anything . As I got older they went away . With these types of seizures something triggers them , or at least in my case they did . When I took on large amounts of information was really my only trigger .

  • you should see the EEG when this seizure a curse...

would make a very nice screen saver...

  • Amalou, good luck with your dd. It has been a long toad, but my dd is doing well less than 1yr later...

  • @hummingbird678 watching these videos about me cry my son has the same kind of seizure and all they keep doing is switching his medication itll work for a couple months then gradually get worst.. why do these kids have to have these problems its not fair.. good luck and god bless

  • Hi my daughter has seizures exactly like these ones, she just been dianosed with absence seizures.. going for an EEG next thursday.. we had no idea it was this til i went to see her head teacher.

  • I seriously didn't know these were seizures...I aparently do this quite often >.<

  • @DanceLoveLily

    They are easy to miss for sure. I hope you are able to get them under control {{hugs}}

  • Thank you for posting this. Most people have no awareness that these are seizures! Her seizures are very similar to my daughter's. Praying for the best for your little one.

  • @qtpiegrl14

They are very subtle and hard to see if you don't know what you are looking for. That's why I posted it... it isn't just a freeze and stare which is what people assume it will be. She is mostly controled right now (no non-induced events reported on her 6hr Telemetry EEG) but we can still induce them so they aren't GONE.

    Thanks!Prayers for your daughter too.

  • thanks for posting this! My 5yr old had her first petit mal seizure about a month ago. Or at least i thought it was her first because it lasted almost 3 min. but now that i'm watching this, i'm remembering a few times where this has happened and i was totally unaware of what was going on.

  • Since this video she has been on two different Medications (Zarontin: didn't work for her at all) (Depakote: works but we are tweaking the dose since taking her off the Z completely)

  • @hummingbird678 i took depakote and i started having the myoclonic seizures i requested to get taken off the meds and now i take keppra and dilantin the keppra keeps me from getting a depressed feeling which helps cause a simple partial seizure, dilantin keeps me out of the grand mal or tonic clonic seizures. i don't know how depakote is working with your daughter but i wouldn't recommend it. i just thought i would let you know my opinions from experience.

  • How is it possible to tell someone is having an absence seizure if they are still moving and acting like before? Can people talk while having absence seizures?

  • @Buffheart :

Absence Seizures are different in each child...some are completley still and don't move...others have some motor function...and others have quite a bit (like my daughter). the person is unconscious, unable to respond to you... they are not aware of the things going on around them but maintain muscle tone (don't collapse). I can't always tell that she is having a seizure, but if she is unresponsive to her name I can confirm one. She has been known to move and mumble during them.

  • What was the diagnosis if I may ask?

  • @SalemRose88

The Dx was absence seizures...we do not have any more information than that (i.e. what part of the brain) at this time (she was Dx and started meds ~2weeks ago).

  • @hummingbird678 absence seizures tyically involve the whole brain at once from what I understand. They are listed as primary generalized seizures. I have epilepsy as well but do not have absences.

  • @SalemRose88

interesting, I know very little about them. Her first Neuro appt is in a couple of weeks (they wanted to wait 'till she had been on her meds for a while). I have a family member that had/has absence seizures and her activity is in her right temporal lobe... I have no idea what that means, but that what what she told me.

  • @hummingbird678 hmmm that is interesting...Good luck with the appointment. I hope it goes well. I was diagnosed with uncontrolled seizures and motor ticks they believe I might have some activity in my left temporal lobe or close to it.....

  • @hummingbird678 -- a little unsafe in the pool having them isnt it?? i mean not that you can stop it from happening and she has to have a good happy life with play time in the pool and what not but me im a paranoid parent lol. my kid has autism i have just found out and im watching many vids on here some say autism will have siezures so im just watching and learning. god bless you i hope you find her issue and i pray they can help fix it best they can.

  • @mysubsbang

We were told that she was fine to go swimming as long as there was an adult present... Our pool is only 30" deep and it's easy to reach the middle from outside any part of the pool so I am comfortable with her being in it when I am not.

Autism (depending on the part of the spectrum your child falls in) can be more complex (as I'm sure you know) so I can't say if I would allow her to do this if she had Autism... It would depend entirely on what the doctors said.

  • @hummingbird678 -- well thats good. his is asbergers syndrome which the doc said it is a mild form of autism. i have noticed he goes into like a la la land sometimes if he is playing or watching tv i dont quit know if he is having these or not but since i have been watching videos on this absence deal i am rather curious so i am gonna watch more of these videos for different behaviors when they have it to see if his is similar. is this a serious condition i mean if he has this do i worry??
