I have the Bossdrum album which I bought in 1992 - great Shamen tracks on there. As for Comin' On, I prefer this version as it is as Funky as Hell and the vibe really gets ya'. Peace, --Davey--
far out remember the shamen did the homecoming gig at aberdeen music hall, just before will sin died...snowballs and pink champagne all round and i danced my arse off
listen to Michael Tsarion on the youtube. He is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Leo Zagami and dr. Bill Deagle are sincere and intelligent as well.
Just another wee comment (can you guess where im from?)
I took part in a competition on Radio 1 in 1993 to win a copy of "Different Drum" and a Shamen waistcoat with pockets kinda like a police vest type thing.
I won!! lol
Spoke to Joe Wiley of Radio 1 that evening, she was very nice.
Went to Rezerection at Ingliston later that summer, gave a friend the waistcoat to wear..and he lost it..out of his face...i mean...isnt life a bitch!! Still got the CD Mr C signed though...EBAY..lol
This was yet another brilliant "remix and additional production by The Beatmasters".How did they do it man? They turned excellent Shamen album tracks in to "top pop chart hits mate not 'arf. ;) The Beatmasters just seemed to "know"..
I remember Move Any Mountain remixed by the Beatmasters included all the best melodies that the Shamen had created themselves. They just arranged them in the right order added a bassline and "different drum"'s ;) And hey presto a MASSIVE hit. Inspirational Stuff ;)
I used to manage the Beatmasters over when I was over at X-Rated Management (after their Shamen faze) & both Paul & Manda were really nice. They told me so many stories about doing these remixes in the studio & Mr C loving them but Colin always saying "I see you've done the usual hatchet job?" LoL Sadly, they've disbanded, but i'm trying to get Paul back into the edit realm again!
Actually with most of the Shamen mixes, the Beatmasters rewrote 90% of the backing track - in some cases there was nothing left of the original at all - and ALL of the songs were way better for it!! They understood the music better than the band did themselves!
Nothing beats the "Fatman". I wonder if the Shamen ever done any remixes of the "Fatman"? I doubt they will ever reform & perform live. Although I can envisage them playing live simply as silhouettes similar to what Kraftwerk do. I think even Colin & Mr. C would be hard pressed to say they are as influential as Kraftwerk. Greensoul.
Mimed, I'm afraid. :( As much as I love this song (and it's possibly their best), it's a shame they didn't play it live - this is the Beatmasters Beat Edit version, I believe.
