That is one of the reasons why ancient greek science looks so much like that of the Qu'ran. They share the same hits and misses. It describes how they went up a high mountain with a bag(sheep's stomach) and measures the differences in pressure. They did the same on the ground, and were able to calculate the differences, and thus estimate the pressures high up.
The quran says NOTHING about this. Does not mention higher pressures, only places where it is harder to breath.

In the middle ages(at the time of the Arabs), the Quran says somethings additional, if it was exactly copied, why would doctor Keith Moore give due credit to the Quran, he even gives due credit to the Greeks, but says many were wrong, that should be enough proof.

Quran is book of Faith as it says 2: 2-4. Much of the language is parables. God put us on earth to test us; so giving scientific knowledge defeats Allah's purpose. God left it to man to discover as says 96: 4-5.
To prove against Quran, there must be something factually wrong. Hindu texts say humans are 1.4 million yrs old, Christians say humans are around 8000 yrs old, believe Dinosaurs existed then! Both false. This is not the case with Quran. It does have stunning prophecies such as 30: 2-4.

Of course the theory of Hippocrates about the "semen" of women is a bit oversimplified, because he couldn't have possibly known about the individual sperm and eggs, but it's not exactly incorrect either. Women have the eggs which men fertilize with their semen. So he was right that it's not just men's semen that starts growing in women's wombs, but both female and male have their own secretions which are needed to create new life.

For example, does it say anywhere in the Quran that a child is born when the sperm goes inside the egg of a woman?

When in reality the sperm needs to fertilize the egg which is inside the woman's womb. Of course the people didn't know that in the old times, because they couldn't see the egg. When those verses are analyzed critically, the critics notice that they don't match with the MODERN view on the embryological stages. They match with the erroneous ancient theories that the greek and the roman philosophers came up with before Quran was written. I have read the Koran, I even bought one and I can say that I have read a great deal. I am not only looking at smear websites, ex-muslims have confirmed these things, There are even other muslims who disagree with each other. God is true. I believe that Islam is true. The Quran is a book of truth. The Taurah, Zabur, and Injeel (Torah, Psalms of David (peace be with him), and Gospels of Jesus (peace be with him) were the revealed books of God. There similarities is due to them coming from the Almighty. All righteous men are Muslims (those who have submitted their wills to the Divine.) If a person chooses to believe or not that is their choice. And science is a proof of the power of the Lord.
DrQamar: Dr Naik is trying to convince an atheist of the uniqueness of the scientific knowledge in the Koran. You argue that the fact that the Greeks came to the same conclusions more than 2000 years ago is irrelevant, since Muh. did not know about Greek science. In order to convince an atheist with this line of thought, you first have to answer the Qs: Why believe in Islam when the knowledge you need is revealed through science? Second: Meet the burden of proof and prove to me that the Koran is
not simply a Man-made document constructed from previous historical, theological and scientific documents, but indeed a revelation from God. Then and only then will Naik's arguments carry any weight at all!

I'm afraid this is not actually true, a vast majority of Muslim countries are incredibly safe, for example Saudi Arabia one of the few countries where you could walk out in the middle of the night dripping in jewellery and feel totally safe.

Muhammad's failure to mention the ovum, when describing the process of conception, is clearly an error. This error is due to his 7th-century view of things. He didn't have a clear notion of conception being a merging of the male and female gametes. Can't blame him. It WAS rather negligent of Jibreel, however.

@BesACB It is also very clear that the Qu'ran got its knowledge (both false and true statements) about conception, fetal development and other things from Hippocratic Corpus, which had been translated and brought to the middle-east before the prophet Muhammad was even born. This Dr.Zakir Naik just ignores those facts, and thinks it is more likely Muhammad got its knowledge from god, then from a book which he and his people had access to in the time he lived.

@TheKap1an lookup The Hippocratic Corpus, alot of volumes(almost all) had been translated both in syrian and arabic before mohammed was even born. That is one of the reasons why ancient greek science looks so much like that of the Qu'ran. They share the same hits and misses. For example, the greeks knew ALOT about developing fetuses and the cesarean section , which alot of muslims claim to have been prophecised by muhamed while that knowledge was wellknown by then. It describes how they went up a high mountain with a bag(sheep's stomach) and measures the differences in pressure. They did the same on the ground, and were able to calculate the differences, and thus estimate the pressures high up.
The quran says NOTHING about this. Does not mention higher pressures, only places where it is harder to breath.
Carpets are flat(unless rolled up).
When a carpet is 'laid' it is flat for SURE.

As for the 2 seas, it says theres a barrier preventing the 2 seas from mixing, that was found out by oceanography.
And the Quran states that the sun has its own orbit, no one knew that at the time..

Its the Bible that copied from the Greeks. If the Quran copied then it would have the same errors, eg. the Greeks say the women had semen, it says that in the Bible, and more aswell.
In the middle ages(at the time of the Arabs), the Quran says somethings additional, if it was exactly copied, why would doctor Keith Moore give due credit to the Quran, he even gives due credit to the Greeks, but says many were wrong, that should be enough proof.

Division of seas are natural phenomenon’s caused by different densities (saltiness) of the 2 seas, discovered long before any of the holy books. First descriptions were from the "Sea Peoples" and Greek mythology. It was also recorded in Egyptian hieroglyphs when this was observed where the Nijl meets the sea.

Also link me 1 scientific paper which states that mountains help reduce the effects of a earthquakes.

How nutfah which basicly means a collection of male and female sperm turns into a cloth of blood, which then turns into a clump of meat. Then the meat gets some bones inserted, after which the bones are clothed with flesh. Then it says something like we bring another creation forth.
This looks VERY much like a short greek version out of the Hippocratic Corpus

Quran is book of Faith as it says 2: 2-4. Much of the language is parables. God put us on earth to test us; so giving scientific knowledge defeats Allah's purpose. God left it to man to discover as says 96: 4-5.
To prove against Quran, there must be something factually wrong. Hindu texts say humans are 1.4 million yrs old, Christians say humans are around 8000 yrs old, believe Dinosaurs existed then! Both false. This is not the case with Quran. It does have stunning prophecies such as 30: 2-4.

Of course the theory of Hippocrates about the "semen" of women is a bit oversimplified, because he couldn't have possibly known about the individual sperm and eggs, but it's not exactly incorrect either. Women have the eggs which men fertilize with their semen. So he was right that it's not just men's semen that starts growing in women's wombs, but both female and male have their own secretions which are needed to create new life.

Or that scholars couldn't think that much, when they were able to realise that earth was actually round without any firm evidence? I've seen the parts where embryology is "detailed". First of all, it's not detailed, it's ambiguous. Secondly there's scientific flaws in that record. For example, does it say anywhere in the Quran that a child is born when the sperm goes inside the egg of a woman?

@scorpio881 No, There's not. Why? because it was an ancient, wrong idea, that a human child is formed from male sperm only. When in reality the sperm needs to fertilize the egg which is inside the woman's womb. Of course the people didn't know that in the old times, because they couldn't see the egg. There's lots of other mistakes also. Especially In the "embryological" record. You should read some of those texts and not just dismiss them as propaganda. Just to test your faith if nothing else.

There is mention in Qur'an about mixed congealed fluid in chapter 76.
Qur'an is mentioning embryological stages as a Glory to God, not for us to learn embryology so it mentions how a human is formed in different stages.

When those verses are analyzed critically, the critics notice that they don't match with the MODERN view on the embryological stages. They match with the erroneous ancient theories that the greek and the roman philosophers came up with before Quran was written. Just google the article "Does quran have any scientific miracles" and the first on the list is an article by Avijit Roy who examines those verses critically.

There's no suggestion that he rose above the ancient misconception that the seed (male) settled into the soil of the womb and there developed further. No actual conception, i.e. no actual meeting of the male and the female gametes. An obvious error in the Qur'an.

from the translation of Rashad Khalifa, Surah 13:3 claims that Allah created ALL fruits in pairs (male and female). This is entirely contradictory to what modern science has revealed since many fruits are hermaphroditic (ex: peaches, nectars), 10% of which are unisexual or bisexual.
I'm sorry but Qur'an is wrong, period. No manner of apologetic 'interpretation' can change that.

God is true. I believe that Islam is true. The Quran is a book of truth. The Taurah, Zabur, and Injeel (Torah, Psalms of David (peace be with him), and Gospels of Jesus (peace be with him) were the revealed books of God. There similarities is due to them coming from the Almighty. All righteous men are Muslims (those who have submitted their wills to the Divine.) If a person chooses to believe or not that is their choice. And science is a proof of the power of the Lord.

I'm afraid this is not actually true, a vast majority of Muslim countries are incredibly safe, for example Saudi Arabia one of the few countries where you could walk out in the middle of the night dripping in jewellery and feel totally safe.
