@PSNChrree I finally found 1 page on the TGS that the trailer was revealed stating this.
And OK, its a reboot. They've already said they're keeping the personality, and gameplay, and from the trailer, it's obvious they're keeping the old Dante, i.e. he gains the power of Sparda, as origin stories tend to do. What this seems to be is a rewrite of the origin, but I don't think it's voiding the old games. Dont hate on something you know nothing about.
That's just what you hope but they didn't say that. He smokes and wears different cloths and that alone shows changes in the personality. The producer even said that he gives a shit about what the fans want and that alone is enough to hate on it. Also a protagonist has to be someone you want to identify with but this Dante is ugly as hell. Even the music sounds not quite as good as in the old games. The only reason ppl start saying it's so cool is because of the graphics.

And most importantly, does the gameplay not look good? I enjoy games because they are enjoyable first, storyline second. The gameplay of DMC5 looks like it will be just as good as the old series.

Take The Darkness. The trailers, and even the Demo were entirely different from the finished game, which turned out to be much better than the demo led us to believe.
On the other side, Haze had a great demo, but was a terrible game
Sure the final game can always be different but as far as I know they don't want to change much anymore. I do hope that they change the look and make the character evolve into the old Dante but I highly doubt it. I'd prefer if this game would be a flop so that they forget their idea of a reboot. I don't see why as a fan I should support such things. All the fans complain about it but in the end they buy it anyway and change nothing. I'd rather see a sequel than a reboot.
@PSNChrree Like I said, from what I've read online, that this is not a final reboot, i.e. they aren't planning on killing off the Dante-Nero line. So you'll probably get to see your sequel.

He doesnt have Rebellion or his 2 normal guns like always. But his new sword/ changing into different weapons should be fun to master and make cool combos. I will just wait and see. Virgil's supposed son Nero is called Dantes half brother in the game. But they do not know the truth behind it. Like in metal gear solid or COD Devil May cry is a big story. Each game we played of it tells different sides from the facts.
@ChaosAint0 OK, well... I played the game again and did some research and... Hes probably virgils son. Mostly because his DT is a version of Nelo Angelo (Vergils DT), and its even right handed like Virgil when Nero is left handed. And he uses Yamato, which is virgils sword. Plus hes referred to as a descendant of Sparda like 100 times. And it would make no sense for him to be Dantes son and have all of Virgils stuff. So my other statement is retracted.

Dante's mom was Sparda's last before he finally kicked it, right? So at minimum he'd be as old as Dante/Vergil. I agree he could be Vertgil's, but he could also have been just a random Halfbreed that beg the universe for help to save Kyrie and the remnants of Sparda's Life-force/Power answered the call.

Well, despite what I've said before, no-one can really prove anything. He could be Sparda's son (Sparda is spelled with a 'D'), Virgil's son, or maybe even Dante's. He has Sparda's blood, that much is certain. The only way to figure anything out and be sure of who Nero is...........is to wait for DMC5, IF they bring Nero back to discover his past.
@mantis1jim Actually we won't need to play DMC5. Don't think it'll ever come out. I read a DMC3 manga and apparently Virgil was with a girl in the beginning. This was around the same time he met the main villain in DMC3 (can't remember the name). From what I gathered based on those few pages of the manga, Nero just might be Virgil's son.
@NeroFan67 His arm changed, meaning he got possessed. They pay tribute to many of Virgil's lines. If you played the games and payed attention you would see it's Virgil who possessed him. One big one is Nero ONLY saying Jackpot in the last fight while using DT. Also another famous line from Virgil "Power give me more power."

Nero is another son of Sparta, he isn't a son of Dante or Vergil they just haven't explained who he really came from (mother wise) he could have a child with another human before just randomly leaving them and going with Eve
way i see it, no one actually sats that Nero is a son of Sparta, its just mentioned that he's a possible descendant. All that means is that at some point before he met Dantes mother, Sparta had been with other humans, and since it appears that demons can live for an indefinate period of time, this could have happened hundreds if not thousands of years before hand.
Nero uses Virgil's soul for his Devil Trigger and supposedly Capcom officially announced he's Virgil's son, but I don't really buy it. I think he's Dante's son but uses Virgil's attack style. That's just my theory.

There's one problem with your theory, Dante may be good looking, but lets face, this is a guy who fights Demons and doesn't even break a sweat, he'd probably kill the Woman he was sleeping with, he may have control, but lets face it, that'd be like trying not to crush a flower (No pun intended) while you're sleeping with your Girlfriend/Boyfriend.
That, and you'd think Dante would KNOW if he had a kid, wouldn't he? Or at least mention having a Girlfriend at some point.
Maybe, unless he just slept with a woman and ran away from her before the morning came. By then, he wouldn't know she was pregnant. And I don't think Dante would really mention doing this kind of thing either. It's more of a personal matter to him. Replay DMC4 and you'll see that one scene after you fight Dante, where it seems to slow down a bit. Not sure what that was really about, but maybe there's where they both realize they have some connection. Didn't say it was right. What do you think?
The fact that Nero somehow has Spardas blood does support your theory, not to mention the fact they both dress much the same (Genetic habit?) and have white hair. However, as far as I know, Neros' arm just recently changed, Dante however always had his Demonic powers, Nero it seems just got his, not only that, but he reforged Yamato, something it seems no one else could do, maybe not even Dante, although a rise in power from generation to generation could be possible, I doubt it

The fact still stands though, Dante is just to strong, as I said before: he'd probably kill the Woman he slept with, further more, Dante was more then a bit of an ass when he was younger (Check 'DMC History' in DMC4 extras) odds are, he couldn't get a girl then, and what girl would sleep with a guy who walks around with a giant ass sword on his back... don't answer that... We'll probably just have to wait for DMC5 and hope that it explains more of Neros past.

I just thought of something, Dante and Nero have VERY different Devil triggers, in fact, Neros Devil Trigger bears little or no resemblance to either, Dantes or Virgils, it could be, that Sparda was a very busy guy and had three kids, lets think about it, Dante never mentions Virgil, could be he has one sibling (male or female) but never talks about him/her, Dante is that sort of person, still though, we could discuss this matter, but in the end, we'll just have to wait for DMC5

You're right, we should wait until DMC5 IF it comes out and IF they go more in depth with Nero. I just want to point out that Nero's DT does kind of resemble Dante's from DMC3, but just a little. And he can't be a third son of Sparda. From what I can tell, he either died or disappeared long ago. Nero looks to be a teen so he can't be a third son. It's true Dante couldn't get a girl, and Virgil hates humans, so I don't know about that. Still, I find it interesting to discuss this kind of thing.

But wikipedia can be edited, I'm more than certain he's Sparda's son. I haven't played many of the games, but my sister has beaten all of them, infact she's playing DMC4 for the forth time. And Vergil couldn't have had a full grown son by now.

they are human, their mother was human. father was a demon. so they still age and all from what i know, plus the aging of characters tells you how much time has gone by if you pay attention to them and certain events. like Lady, she was there before Dante decided on Devil May Cry as a name, and then Trish you came afterwards. both still fairly young, Lady especially since she's pure human. not much time has passed at all
apprently from what someone else said, capcom announced that Nero was suppose to be Vergil's son. hence similar demon arm, devil trigger, yamato, "more power". but i guess they kind of forgot about how much time has passed and just made the character. that's my guess
Either way EVEN IF he doesn't follow the story line I love nero to bits. He was an awesome character to play as and it really added to the Devil May Cry experience for me =) So I guess it doesn't bother me if he has nothing to do with it haha. I guess we'll see though in the next game! (assuming they're making one...which I bet they are =))

Dante's mom was Sparda's last before he finally kicked it, right? So at minimum he'd be as old as Dante/Vergil. I agree he could be Vertgil's, but he could also have been just a random Halfbreed that beg the universe for help to save Kyrie and the remnants of Sparda's Life-force/Power answered the call.

Well, despite what I've said before, no-one can really prove anything. He could be Sparda's son (Sparda is spelled with a 'D'), Virgil's son, or maybe even Dante's. He has Sparda's blood, that much is certain. The only way to figure anything out and be sure of who Nero is...........is to wait for DMC5, IF they bring Nero back to discover his past.

@mantis1jim Actually we won't need to play DMC5. Don't think it'll ever come out. I read a DMC3 manga and apparently Virgil was with a girl in the beginning. This was around the same time he met the main villain in DMC3 (can't remember the name). From what I gathered based on those few pages of the manga, Nero just might be Virgil's son.

@NeroFan67 His arm changed, meaning he got possessed. They pay tribute to many of Virgil's lines. If you played the games and payed attention you would see it's Virgil who possessed him. One big one is Nero ONLY saying Jackpot in the last fight while using DT. Also another famous line from Virgil "Power give me more power."

Nero is another son of Sparta, he isn't a son of Dante or Vergil they just haven't explained who he really came from (mother wise) he could have a child with another human before just randomly leaving them and going with Eve

way i see it, no one actually sats that Nero is a son of Sparta, its just mentioned that he's a possible descendant. All that means is that at some point before he met Dantes mother, Sparta had been with other humans, and since it appears that demons can live for an indefinate period of time, this could have happened hundreds if not thousands of years before hand.

Nero uses Virgil's soul for his Devil Trigger and supposedly Capcom officially announced he's Virgil's son, but I don't really buy it. I think he's Dante's son but uses Virgil's attack style. That's just my theory.

There's one problem with your theory, Dante may be good looking, but lets face, this is a guy who fights Demons and doesn't even break a sweat, he'd probably kill the Woman he was sleeping with, he may have control, but lets face it, that'd be like trying not to crush a flower (No pun intended) while you're sleeping with your Girlfriend/Boyfriend.
That, and you'd think Dante would KNOW if he had a kid, wouldn't he? Or at least mention having a Girlfriend at some point.

Maybe, unless he just slept with a woman and ran away from her before the morning came. By then, he wouldn't know she was pregnant. And I don't think Dante would really mention doing this kind of thing either. It's more of a personal matter to him. Replay DMC4 and you'll see that one scene after you fight Dante, where it seems to slow down a bit. Not sure what that was really about, but maybe there's where they both realize they have some connection. Didn't say it was right. What do you think?

The fact that Nero somehow has Spardas blood does support your theory, not to mention the fact they both dress much the same (Genetic habit?) and have white hair. However, as far as I know, Neros' arm just recently changed, Dante however always had his Demonic powers, Nero it seems just got his, not only that, but he reforged Yamato, something it seems no one else could do, maybe not even Dante, although a rise in power from generation to generation could be possible, I doubt it

The fact still stands though, Dante is just to strong, as I said before: he'd probably kill the Woman he slept with, further more, Dante was more then a bit of an ass when he was younger (Check 'DMC History' in DMC4 extras) odds are, he couldn't get a girl then, and what girl would sleep with a guy who walks around with a giant ass sword on his back... don't answer that... We'll probably just have to wait for DMC5 and hope that it explains more of Neros past.

I just thought of something, Dante and Nero have VERY different Devil triggers, in fact, Neros Devil Trigger bears little or no resemblance to either, Dantes or Virgils, it could be, that Sparda was a very busy guy and had three kids, lets think about it, Dante never mentions Virgil, could be he has one sibling (male or female) but never talks about him/her, Dante is that sort of person, still though, we could discuss this matter, but in the end, we'll just have to wait for DMC5

You're right, we should wait until DMC5 IF it comes out and IF they go more in depth with Nero. I just want to point out that Nero's DT does kind of resemble Dante's from DMC3, but just a little. And he can't be a third son of Sparda. From what I can tell, he either died or disappeared long ago. Nero looks to be a teen so he can't be a third son. It's true Dante couldn't get a girl, and Virgil hates humans, so I don't know about that. Still, I find it interesting to discuss this kind of thing.

Anyway, it's true that Nero shouldn't be fully grown if he was Vergil's son but that's as realistic as Dante and Vergil's existence. Sparda disappeared 1,000 years ago right? plus, there's also Lady, her looks help discern some of the time that has passed, which is very little
but, even if he is a demon, it still jsut doesn't make that much sense to me, he is also part human as well, like human aging but demon strength thing. but...i dunno, they just probably didn't work out the details on it just yet

they are human, their mother was human. father was a demon. so they still age and all from what i know, plus the aging of characters tells you how much time has gone by if you pay attention to them and certain events. like Lady, she was there before Dante decided on Devil May Cry as a name, and then Trish you came afterwards. both still fairly young, Lady especially since she's pure human. not much time has passed at all

Either way EVEN IF he doesn't follow the story line I love nero to bits. He was an awesome character to play as and it really added to the Devil May Cry experience for me =) So I guess it doesn't bother me if he has nothing to do with it haha.
