  • she is chinese. Whether U people like irt or not. Just bec she can't speak the native language,,doesn't mean she's any less a chinese. As a matter of fact, here in the Philippines, we considered u guys as 'chinese' ..,. as immigrants and 'guests' in our lsnd.

  • We could agree that piano and violin are "things for rich people" so not everyone could take their roads! But I think strict parenting could be almost a benefit for children. For sure, forbid to go to the bathroom during practicing is a bit extreme but if we consider only school performances Amy Chua has my greates accolade. I was like Sophia in my childhood but when I went to the high school my performances went down. I wish I could have had a mother like her. PS: I write from Europe and I'm 23

  • @WhiteBlueTiger88 well I would like to have her at the end of the book as a mother, where she realizes how 'Chinese' and 'Western' parenting are both not the be all and end all :)

  • I watched about 30 seconds of this video and wanted to smack her.

  • @Hadra568 i hate women like her, people like her, such as also with Amy Tan. typically bitch promoting her dumb fuck shit. probably has contracts to make money off it and teaching people dumb shit.

  • @TheCoolfez I agree with you. If they didn't earn that much (both parents being professors and all) I don't think Amy would have the capability in the first place to invest so much in their children's future in music. I daresay that they are just lucky their ancestors worked so hard, Amy too, so there is no problem drilling whatever knowledge in the sisters. I want to learn the piano and couldn't due to a poorer family background, but it is probably late now anyway.

  • @lenangjf Excuse! The thing is its yourself. Excellence is not a ACT but an HABIT

  • I live in beijing and have never seen more depressed, lifeless and soulless children. Their whole worlds are circumscribed by parental control. I feel sorry for them. And my Homeschooled kids do, too- twice as much!

  • @LioraLand they go to my school and are just the opposite...wanna meet them before you judge?

  • I'm Chinese. I have heard of her book and no Chinese that I know gives a shit about her book.

  • @dilegentelectron that's kind of the point of the video, that China (or rather, Chinese people) perceive this behavior as normal...

  • @xInterlude No, the Chinese don't view it as normal. This lady is not even real Chinese. She can't even speak Chinese. She only wants her book to sell well.

  • @dilegentelectron of course, she just wants to promote she stupid propaganda, cash in mad giver herself and ego boost claiming herself as Chinese. it is fare more depressing then impressive for her career move.

  • I enjoyed her book...I don't see why people hate her so much

  • She should not be considered 'Chinese' because she married a freakin white guy and i doubt she can even read and write Chinese well.

  • @guitarhamster102 I just read her book, and in it she said she doesn't even speak Mandarin...but she has her daughters learn the language.

  • @AhLing09 yeah, she's just a Chinese wannabe. Bitch ditched her own culture and expects her daughters to atone for it.

  • no one gives shit on her book in china

  • Immigrant parents from Asia who comes to America, always want to retain their culture. The way they were raised is the way they raise their kids. I'm from Philippines. My parents were so strict and I'm glad they were. I have raised my kids the way I was brought up but along the way I had to adjust because my eldest rebelled. I was a Tiger mom (though I was born under the year of the snake). Reading the book of Ms. Amy Chua is like reading about myself.

  • I am Caucasian and I found all her ideas commendable. My kids will be raised in a strict manner no matter what nationality/race my wife will be.

  • @TheNexusnexus7 u do know that her daughter's success is not due to her rules and strict parenting right? It is due to how rich they are. The daughters are world class piano players and really smart due to the fact that they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on world class tutors and coaches and fly them all over the world for competitions.

  • Amy and Wendy Murdoch (I don't know who the lady is to the far left on the stage) make me sick. They're a couple of self-loathing publicity seeking idiots. For all this pride in being Chinese, I bet they never, when they were single, ever gave a bachelor Chinese or Asian guy a chance in the dating scene.. Charlie should fire the guy or lady who booked these fools.. he usually runs a good show with interesting guests.. well, not this time unfortunately..

  • she is normal.

  • Everyone forgets to mention that the piano thing, the famous norms she speaks about are only applied to Chinese rich people. The rest of the country lacks those benefits working hard hours to survive. Whenever you heard about the piano or violin classes, you know for sure that people has a lot of money, the rest is blah blah blah.

  • wtf this bitch is fucking crazy

  • NOT NORMAL, SHE HAS BEEN OUT OF CHINA FOR TOOO LONG. PRESENT CHINA IS NOT LIKE THAT. I`M EVEN A LITTLE BIT SHOCKED BY HER. SHE GETS SOME CRITISISM IN CHINA AS WELL

  • @3232066 Present Chinese parents still push their kids very hard, at least mine do. However, she does get criticism in China, you're right. In China, her book is used to explain why Chinese parents should give their children more Western freedom.

Btw, typing in all caps is bad.

  • @3232066 since there can be only one child in the household now, the child is treated like royalty arent they xD lol. im chinese though living in singapore and i was shocked when my cousin told me the exchange programme students from china told her to follow her dreams and say that their parent are very supportive and never push them at all and stuff oAO wieeeerrrddd
