it would be great to know more about the expansion not only the new campaign.. also 8 missions aren't really attractive when you already have a map editor and I'm sure people will make lots of interesting missions themselves.. gameplay improvements and additions are what I believe should be the most important aspect of the expansion and none of that was covered.

Definitely. The game as it stands is shallow and boring. Another boring, cheesy campaign wouldn't even get me back into the game. They need to give depth and character to everything (beyond tooltips with meta-humour about why there is gold lying around everywhere) or this game will never be as fun as it could be.
Some better roleplaying elements, some mini-games, an extension on the hero promotion gimmick between missions, ANYTHING to let the player engage more with the game.
