@KristopherJones0229 really? She's slightly stiff because the movement is extremely fast and a particular kind of movement....not because of 'lack of diversity'...... I know plenty of completely diverse dancers...even hip hop dancers..who would be slightly stiff after only 7hrs of reheasal in this particular style of hip hop. And it's funny you say that bc most people I've showed the video to agree that she really got the vibe of the song and detail in the litlte movements. so ummmm..try again

@KristopherJones0229 making completely inane/unfounded comments about lack of diversity proves nothing. She wasn't stiff when she did 'I got you' was she? That was also it was NappyTabs choreo wasn't it? Hrmm.. it was....as I said it has more to do with that particular style of hip hop and that type of song. Roman's Revenge is a hard song to do choreography that is outside your genre to and she held it down. You also insult contemporary dance by insinuating that there is no diversity within it.

@KristopherJones0229 you need to chill with the hating bc it's a bad look. Apparently millions of DIVERSE dancers and nondancers agree that she held it down bc they voted for her. Maybe you need to go back through the season to see that there were some dances that were close to this particular style of hip hop.... and many hip hop dances that were lyrical hip hop.... she did better than some and worse than others but it doesn't mean she didn't deserve the props she got.

@asielle ummm no...sorry she didn't deserve to be hyped up sooooo much. all she did was contemporary for most of the competition. and when i say no diversity i meant throughout the competition duh. there were people like Tadd who picked up choreo like that and it was great and got barely nothing, while Melanie coasted (and I mean what I say) coasted through the competition and was praised. Have no reason to hate on her she is a good CONTEMPORARY dancer...

You're communication skills are lacking..She didn't coast....she got praise bc of her skill beyond dancing..her ability to PERFORM is what got her praise. I agree that Tadd deserved a lot more credit than he got..but him deserving more credit doesn't mean melanie deserved less. Especially bc it was a season full of superb contemporary dancers&still stood out

I said they should not have hyped her up. I could care less that America disagreed with me, I voted for America's Best Dancer not America's (over-hyped) favorite dancer

@KristopherJones0229 from your responses I can tell that you're one of the newbies who hasn't followed the show well. I have watched the show since the very first episode....I've seen every season and I can confidently say that I wasn't 'blinded' by anything. And as they say time and time again....the premise of the show isn't america's BEST dancer.... it's america's FAVORITE dancer....because 'best' is a matter of perception and is not measurable in this type of show.

People aren't searching for someone to vote for because voting takes time and energy..people are drawn to a dancer and choose to vote for them. There have been many episodes over the year where I haven't particuarly been happy with any dancer so I didn't vote..bc voting isn't mandatory. I'm sad for you that you believe the world to be so weak minded that they would vote for someone just because. Grow up.

People voted for her because they weren't seeing Melanie the versatile dancer, they were seeing Melanie the contemporary dancer who has the backing of the judges every episode. No constructive criticism...only ur amazing no need for improvement. That hip hop routine says otherwise...

@KristopherJones0229 you also seem to be neglected the fact that regardless of the praise or lack of praise a dancer gets...AMERICA...votes them through....and througout SYTYCD history it has shown that if America loves a dancer.. they love them regardless of the judges' opinions. There are plenty of dancers who have dominantly done their genre throughout the competition....and they still didn't win.... so what you're saying still holds no weight. America has voted....and they disagree with you

@lifeinstripes Why would this stop anyone from saying she can't do hip hop? Just because you "draw" a style doesn't mean you can DO the style. She's all arm movement and head-thrashing. That, my dear, is not hip hop. I think I saw one weak attempt at a chest pop. Zero swag. If it was anyone else, the judges would have been brutal in their critiques. She's a great contemporary dancer...nothing more. Even her waltz was a series of contemporary lifts, almost no waltz.

@lifeinstripes Lots of people get though Vegas who are only good in their own style. Does Jose' ring a bell? Iveta? Clarence? Melinda? I could go on. Melanie is a spectacular contemporary dancer & she won the hearts of America,which is all that matters on the show. Why is it so painful to admit she can't do everything? Most people can't; nothing to be ashamed of. If Nigel really thought she could "nail" HH, she'd be doing it on the tour. She'll only do that fake HH with the kiss, not this one.
