I tried to reinforce a flimsy torqe converter flex plate that keeps cracking because of increased power from engine mod's. it's out of balance now I know what to do. Thank You.
hey man check out the channel fiatnutz. The guy owns a machine shop somewhere in Cali and he records most of his major jobs to create quick videos of how its done and some tips and hints on how he specializes his customers stuff...pretty professional guy, races his own built Fiat and he definitely knows what hes talking about
Turning the whole thing down removes more weight than drilling all the holes and doesn't reduce it's strength as much. Since it's already turned down to the starter ring it could be turned down on everything else leaving the starter ring the same, but thinner everywhere else.
But, I'd also highly recommend using a real balancer for something like that instead of just drilling more on the heavy side until it looks right. Might have spun to 9K, but it's hard on bearings.
i had machined the sides to the width of the starter ring BB92, so drilling was the only option really (tested to nearly 9k rpm, as shown in another vid on here)
you could try the m/c wheel balancer or a (similar designed) aeromodeler,s prop balancer eh
and i think the counterweights need to be the same weight as the piston/rod assy (so i guess you would need to similate then on the crankpin, roofing lead and jubilee clip maybe ?)
Can someone explain whether this is a successful request, I have heard that these have no function. Could it be different with Honda's engine?

I seriously hope that didn't go in an engine.

you best tell the factory not to drill the heavy side to balance them too NBSV1, and 10mm thickness on a cast iron f/w is plenty thin enough imo

great job but wouldnt it be safer not to drill holes in it but to take it to a lathe'rer

know anything about balancing cranks ? ive seen motorcycle wheel balancers
simular to this with four precision bearings mounted with the axle resting
over them, i wonder if it would work
on a dirt bike single cylender crank,,,
and would i need to turn the rod where
it rests between the halves for balancing?

yeh, then you have to drill material from the heavy side untill the chalkmarks are randomly spaced
aelknarf 3 years ago
that couldn't have balanced it? it simply highlighted the heavier side didnt it?
