Apparently Jones did a number on Grace and Tim Stoen, and convinced them somehow to put his name on the birth certificate. They agreed, then when the custody battle started he said "I'm the boy's father. They gave him up to me." Apparently the two of them are still close even after their divorce, because they shared a hell no parent should be in.
FYI: Jackie Spier, Congressman Ryan's aide, was elected to Congress last year. So there's another good person in Congress now.
I think Congressman Ryan was extremely naive in a lot of respects. He should have listened and left that very night. I would have and what a hideous waste of all those lives and potential.
All of those deaths could have been avoided if they hadn't killed Ryan. If they hadn't and let those people go, then they wouldn't have had to commit suicide.

The moment at 1:30 gave me chills, it's so sad that these people died just one day later. Man that's creepy, I feel so sorry that nine-hundred people died because of a freaking mad man.

THis being a good upload and documentary, i really like the effort you put in cutting this documentary and uploading it to YouTube. The fact sound is missing in pt. 6 is a lame - hopefully - misunderstanding which i hope you'll get fixed as soon as those idiots dosn't see history as a trademark...

Pretty hard considering I have no control over it. If there's a lot of data in a particular upload, it can fuck up the video like that unfortunately.

This shows you what cult leaders use as a weapon to control people, its the spirit of rejection. The people Jim Jones took to Jamestown , were mostly poor, black and fatherless. People with no identity , looking for somewhere to fit in. And if you look through these mega churchs , you would find they are made up of the same kind of people. The only difference is , the kool aid they drink is a false doctrine, but just asdeadly and corruptable and the preacher gets away with just as much.

@algwad - Her name was Alicia Wilkinson. She was very self-conscious about a burn scar on her face, which was the result of having been burned as a child. The people's temple choir made a great album called He's Able. Do a search for it here on youtube. It's good stuff - with the exception of the 1 song that Jim Jones sings on it.

I mean if he did, then this tragedy would never have happened. I wish there were more congressmen like Leo Ryan who was willing to help the people who elected him. Apparently Jones did a number on Grace and Tim Stoen, and convinced them somehow to put his name on the birth certificate. They agreed, then when the custody battle started he said "I'm the boy's father. They gave him up to me." Apparently the two of them are still close even after their divorce, because they shared a hell no parent should be in.
FYI: Jackie Spier, Congressman Ryan's aide, was elected to Congress last year. So there's another good person in Congress now.
