people talk about madonna shows in the context of a concert, but really they are more akin to an art installation. her concerts are more like theatre, and she is using her music to tell the story. Thing is a lot of gaga fans lack the sophistication to really understand that.

Madonna is a great artist and is respected. But Madonna has sold 300m records which means she is considered "popular" . Its worth considering that the beatles were similarly criticised during the sixties because they too were "popular" i think history has a tendency to be kind to artists of all persuasions.
