I started with Disciples 2. A really hard game. Disciples 3 is more easy to play and to understand.. but thats not so bad to complain about. Effects obviously are better than 2 and I love the story too.I think the gameplay is good. Don't feel so bad about Disciples 3... because Elemental from Stardock also went down burning. I didn't follow the progress of Disciples3 but the developers from Stardock spent way too much time on graphics and almost nothing gamers requested from the forums entered into the game. Elemental was suppose to be the first 64Bit game... yet this also was just a myth. :(
Today I worry about Heroes_6 because those developers are adding a stupid morality scale instead of listening to the fans. HELP
This game is way better than Heroes of Might and Magic but unfortunately Disciples 3 is full of bugs even the patched version. I heard that this game doesn't earn a lot of money and they discontinued the support in this game. I really love this game.

I played Disciples 1 , Disciples 2 and now i am playng Disciples 3 and i must say this is the best one yet. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing and combined with the beautifull graphics it takes you to a hole new level. I lote the atmosphere, the battle style is now more adecvate (hating the powerups but hey it is something new so.. ) and more realistic. The only downside is the very long campaine (and i mean hours of play not maps because it has little maps).
@iLikeBeerAndSex i think this is not the best, you see in 1 and 2 you were fighting like standing in one position and it was cool this was the thimg in those games what i loved, there were more than 3 sites who you can chose the best was in 2 because there were the most of them, and here you can have 12 fighters in your team this suck there are tooo many, the batles are like in Heroes(HOMM) this game is more like Heroes than Disciples (sorry for bad writing but im not from England or America)
i think that the new fighting style is a bit better looks more realistic unlike the second 1 u have to be 5 metres away to hit him with a sword but its still a good game
I am HoMM fan like most people I understand why heroes are one of the greatest games ever. But what disciples had me hooked on wasnt the great strategic manovering it was unique look/feel and the dark fantasy story. After I finished the whole campings/expansions I fogot it existed, I hope they can implement the fantasy /story into more strategic enviorement, so the game could live longer.

i love the grafics and i hope it can be a fun strategy game for once. i tried homm once long ago (dont remember wich) but dident stand that when you have walked a certain amount of "squares" you needed to rest. would be fun if some strategy game someday could change my opinion about it to make me like it.

Great news for Disciples series fans.The addon of the Disciples III Resurrection is going to be released in December. The great news about it,is a new balance system,they have changed balance which was in Renaissance, old features came back, now some units will need 2 leadership, as it was in previews Disciples games. I agree with UnderGeorge.... the graphics might look good , 3D and stuff but they turned the game into HOMM. This is NOT the disciples i loved so much . The first parts (1 and 2) are amazing games! With their own magical atmosphere. I wish they hadn't changed the fighting system... This game is lame, I've never followed the disciples franchise but im not new to turn base strategy games. This game DOES NOT HAVE MULTI-PLAYER and tries to add in rpg element. Its like Heroes of might and magic 4 w. one slight difference, bad gameplay, bad army mechanics, and terrible unit balance. Not to mention the ai is just bad; as ai units will attack the closest thing to them. I believe it took them 12 years to make this? sad...
This 3d is ruining the game I played the first one loved it. Got the second one thought it was alright. Now this one just looks terriable. This is just another ending series. Plus i think it's like a 40 dollar price tag on steam I think I'll pass and find torrent. This is very disapointing
Morons, I just had a look at the graphics in disciples 2 and its disgraceful bile compared to this. This has the most unprecedented beautiful 3d graphics for this sort of game.I had the same complains when homm5 came out, and rightfully so, everything looked like WOW with its cartoon boxiness and sharply outlined characters and towns.King's Bounty is the same. The 3d graphics are just not good enuf to pull itself off.This game however is gorgeous, you people need to stop living 10 years ago. .
I enjoyed Discples 1 and 2 (and expansion) very much so prolly give this a try...
But, sometimes the change to 3D doesnt have to be the step in right direction....
Also the new combat system kinda disapointes me. i liked the original "stand and kill" combat (it was smthing different compared to all those HoMM games).

I'm big Disciples game fan from way back, i just started playing this and i think is one of the worst PC strategy games i ever came across. Ok the artwork is great and the sound is pretty good so gj on that, but is such a shame that the rest is pretty much crap. I could probably write a essay on the things that are wrong in this game. Imo this game is a fuck up. 3D transition did not help the game. It destroyed it. Wonderful graphics? Maybe, but it dosen't give the 2d artwork atmosphere. New fighting system? Please now it's HOMM not Disciples. Not being able to place the rod where you like? that sucks. Characters are well transitioned into 3d? No, they lack character. Bugs? yes plenty (having 12 units with leadership 3? LOL) As a Disciples fan I must say: This is shitty HOMM rip-off, not disciples.

I'm not happy about the new 3D engine. Looks like they've tried too hard to emulate the latest HOMM installment. The previous 2D interface was simple, elegant, stylish and it just worked. And the battle screen had a very delightful "Disciple" flavour to it, that seems to be gone now. To be honest, this new battle screen looks lame to me. I'm going to say pass to this one, I'm afraid.
What i would do to make this game better. I would first make the map the size of a whole planet so you can rotate the planet and choose what countrys or regions to take over. Then i would allow free roaming with no end of turn cycles but would still keep the day and night cycles. Include weather cycles that can effect a battle like tornadoes etc. Resourses and armies will depend on how much territory you own. So you can either take over or buy with resourses territories. That's just some ideas.
To claim something has evolved is a very strong declaration. But also bound to personal opinion. Write specifics if you want to be taken seriously by the masses.
I have yet to try it, so do not start a discussion with me but rather inform the rest of why you believe it has 'evolved'.
Dont like the idea of having more than 3-4 heroes in one battle. plus, when u try and equip armor and stuff. u have to think about who gets what. and to spend attributes on all 10+ heroes considering their roles... geez! focus on fewer heroes!

It seems like they tried to make it look like Heroes of Might and Magic and somewhat succeeded at it, but they forgot to make the gameplay just as good. Furthermore, the narrator sounds like he doesn't want to narrate. He sounds waaaay too boring. It's the little things that kills it for me.

I would say that the 3D artwork looks quite appealing. Adds contrast to the game. i am not saying nor comparing the Second Disciples to this one. This is something new, something different. It is always a risk to develop something different based on the successful series. In my opinion the gamble was worth it. I do agree though that adding 3D to HOMM was not a good idea at all.
@MrRockjesus You know it'd be pretty easy to make a wooden comp. I mean at least making a wooden case. Definitely wouldn't have the best airflow though.

Only thing i regret is the unit portraits and some units themselves especially humans.
Where has all those hair, eyebrows, barbs and cool looking characters gone ? Like the Grand Inquisitor ? The Wizard ? Units look too polished and and shiny.
In Disciples II it looked much darker and had a better feeling of magic/sorcery.
I played Russian version for 2 days and I think the game is quite good. Combat system has minor changes and It is even better than before. I will play by all means.
this game looks good,but i heard that the russian version is so full of bugs and glitches...this makes me sad(just hope the international version comes stable)
I don't really like Heroes of Might and Magic and Disciples. King's Bounty Armored Princess is much more better than this.

This 3d is ruining the game I played the first one loved it. Got the second one thought it was alright. Now this one just looks terriable. This is just another ending series. Plus i think it's like a 40 dollar price tag on steam I think I'll pass and find torrent. This is very disapointing

Morons, I just had a look at the graphics in disciples 2 and its disgraceful bile compared to this. This has the most unprecedented beautiful 3d graphics for this sort of game.I had the same complains when homm5 came out, and rightfully so, everything looked like WOW with its cartoon boxiness and sharply outlined characters and towns.King's Bounty is the same. The 3d graphics are just not good enuf to pull itself off.This game however is gorgeous, you people need to stop living 10 years ago. .

I enjoyed Discples 1 and 2 (and expansion) very much so prolly give this a try...
But, sometimes the change to 3D doesnt have to be the step in right direction....
Also the new combat system kinda disapointes me. i liked the original "stand and kill" combat (it was smthing different compared to all those HoMM games).
I just hope this brings something new other than fancy graphics (gogo excellent story - "hopes" .P))

I'm big Disciples game fan from way back, i just started playing this and i think is one of the worst PC strategy games i ever came across. Ok the artwork is great and the sound is pretty good so gj on that, but is such a shame that the rest is pretty much crap. I could probably write a essay on the things that are wrong in this game. And i don't rly mind the 3D conversion and all that, but the game seems rly unfinished and the gameplay very poorly thought through. Akella took a piss!

Imo this game is a fuck up. 3D transition did not help the game. It destroyed it. Wonderful graphics? Maybe, but it dosen't give the 2d artwork atmosphere. New fighting system? Please now it's HOMM not Disciples. Not being able to place the rod where you like? that sucks. Characters are well transitioned into 3d? No, they lack character. Bugs? yes plenty (having 12 units with leadership 3? LOL) As a Disciples fan I must say: This is shitty HOMM rip-off, not disciples.

I'm not happy about the new 3D engine. Looks like they've tried too hard to emulate the latest HOMM installment. The previous 2D interface was simple, elegant, stylish and it just worked. And the battle screen had a very delightful "Disciple" flavour to it, that seems to be gone now. To be honest, this new battle screen looks lame to me. I'm going to say pass to this one, I'm afraid.

What i would do to make this game better. I would first make the map the size of a whole planet so you can rotate the planet and choose what countrys or regions to take over. Then i would allow free roaming with no end of turn cycles but would still keep the day and night cycles. Include weather cycles that can effect a battle like tornadoes etc. Resourses and armies will depend on how much territory you own. So you can either take over or buy with resourses territories. That's just some ideas.

Dont like the idea of having more than 3-4 heroes in one battle. plus, when u try and equip armor and stuff. u have to think about who gets what. and to spend attributes on all 10+ heroes considering their roles... geez! focus on fewer heroes!

It seems like they tried to make it look like Heroes of Might and Magic and somewhat succeeded at it, but they forgot to make the gameplay just as good. Furthermore, the narrator sounds like he doesn't want to narrate. He sounds waaaay too boring. It's the little things that kills it for me.

I would say that the 3D artwork looks quite appealing. Adds contrast to the game. i am not saying nor comparing the Second Disciples to this one. This is something new, something different. It is always a risk to develop something different based on the successful series. In my opinion the gamble was worth it. I do agree though that adding 3D to HOMM was not a good idea at all.

Only thing i regret is the unit portraits and some units themselves especially humans.
Where has all those hair, eyebrows, barbs and cool looking characters gone ? Like the Grand Inquisitor ? The Wizard ? Units look too polished and and shiny.
In Disciples II it looked much darker and had a better feeling of magic/sorcery.
